The good -- Has compression and all parts attached it a complete bike The bad -- has not run for 17 years & radiator core is broken This weekend i pulled the tank and splashed some fuel down the carbs, hooked up the car battery (not running) and hit the starter. engine turning over but not cranking. it sounded like the starter was spinning so pulled the alternator and then the starter and check the starter gears teeth, All good all ther…

Hi guys ! I've introduced myself and my bike in the new members zone and I think this is the right place to continue the discussion regarding the restoration that I'm planning to do on my bike. It's an XT 600E 3TB from 1994 with electric start. The bike is at a service shop for first maintenance and repairs since I got it but I plan on doing future maintenance and almost all repairs at home in the future. (I didn't want to mess up something with the brakes for example and have a small accident because of that and I preferred someone with deeper knowledge about four stroke engines to have a look at it first). There are a few important things to fix and repla…

A little bit of back story: I traded a blown up 92 RM125 to a guy for, what he said was a complete, 1979 DT175 with no papers. Had a look over everything and although the ignition wasn't assembled, it looked all there. Came with two "parts motors" so what the hell, right? After having it in my garage for a couple weeks while I finished up a couple repairs on my other ride, I finally got to actually dig through the parts box and run some VIN numbers to see what I had. Turns out the bike is a 78 and the engine numbers match! Also, turns out its got everything to make a complete bike. Catch is, its all for 3 different years. Closest I can figure is, he had the 78 …

Well its home and..... em.... well... OK its a shed. It has not had a lot of love and the person I got it from has bought it to fix and bottled it after working on it a tiny bit. Good: Engine is oil tight, looks unopened save the top end Really good spark Frame looks good and straight, No bad rust anywhere Bodywork is complete if a little 'weatherd' Bar basic fixings its pretty much all there. Suspention sound and working Forks have minor pitting outside of the seal area, look oil tight too. Bad: Don't think it will run, fuel in it was yellow....... Petrol in the gearbox Water in the 2stroke tank E…

Right here goes, Had a sudden want for a bike last year, and a good friend had just finished his xvs650 build, after seeing that I knew that was what I wanted! So the search started and I was struggling to find anything for under 2k! And I didn't want to chop up that much money, but then on an app called shpock a bike turned up, been sat for a while, bottom end knock, spare engine and then a spare bottom end with a brand new crank (fitted by Yamaha specialists), basically we filled the back of a transit connect all for £450! Needless to say we drove off like we stole the bike

I'm hoping to have the bike finished by the summer of 2017.including a few choice mods such as a belgarda 4dl front wheel, usd forks, renthal bars,MT-03 headlight, trailtech Vapor computer, also I think I'd like to make it a darker shade of blue. Here she is in her standard glory

Hi This post is of my Yamaha XJ6-N which im hoping i can turn streetfighter. I purchased the bike new and I have only been part of the bikers community for 2 weeks as ive just recently passed my test. Anyone in the Surrey/London area will know the likes of Newlands Corner, Box Hill and obviously Ace Cafe. Ive been to these places quite frequently the last few weeks and i havent seen many XJ6's about and the ones that i have have been left factory standard. Ive allways been one too tweek about with a lot of my cars in the past and now im on the bike nothing has changed. The aim really is to get the bike noticed a lot more at the meets and to try and bring out my creative…

Hi Guys, it was recommended that I moved this post here as it was more relevant. To cut a long story short, back in January I bought a 650 V-Star classic to replace my current Hyosung GV250, since then the latter has been sat around the garage collecting dust and wasting away. I had tried to sell it numerous times on eBay but I never really had any offers that I felt were close to what it was worth (granted I went a little overboard with modifications, but it was my first bike so I reserved the right to act like a child on Christmas). Time went on and the bike was still sitting under an old duvet in the garage, unused - After I had finished adding extra bits to the X…

Hi there guys, So I've started my first restoration on my little dt50 I picked up for 50 quid. I never planned to start a project but I always liked the little dt and when one came up at this price I thought well why the hell not. It didn't take me long to strip it down to the frame but thinking I've picked the wrong time of year as its very cold in my garage Can anybody advise me if I should get the frame and swing arm painted or powder coated? Also I've been searching for a new rear shock as mines pretty shot. I've taken the carb to bits just yesterday and its cleaned up very nicely however when removing the insulating ring…

The dealer sticker was a great score...i also have my late bro in-law 1980 zuki a100 and had the sticker on it ...i was able to peel it off and get it reproduced as this bike came from the same dealer. i think it adds to the look

Hello everyone, firstly thanks to everyone on this forum of their indirect and direct advise that i have scanned through for hours and hours to get me through the thick and thin of this project. So here goes: i purchased the bike in this condition, it was a non runner and had apparently been sat for at least 5 years. It cost me £350. The teardown begins...... rust rust and more rust i couldnt get the back end off without chopping the frame, and as i wasnt going to be keeping it it seemed the fastest option anyway. i had to weld nuts on to origional nuts and bolts to remove some of the engine mount bolts and the nuts holding the pipes on where…

Sorry drewpy new to forums and didn't know the drill. Thanks for your reply Paul having real trouble logging into the site having to change my password every time I try to log on anyway back to the bike will measure the carb and get the number off it. The bike has a expansion pipe fitted it came with a rear silencer in the box of bits but it's a right hand exit and the expansion pipe finishes on the left hand side of the bike. Will post photos soon as I said the bike was bourght as a project nice blasted and powder coated frame and fully rebuilt engine and box so a great base to start with it needs a seat cover and a few bits and bobs I would prefer a airbox Paul but if y…
