Hello, I’m trying to fix up a Dt 250mx (1R7). I’m missing wheels and they are hard to come by. Does anyone know if wheels off another model would fit. Many thanks, Jed.

For those into engine porn. My 1975 T160 Trident was burning a bit of oil, so having missed out on a few weekend aways due to lockdown, I saved my money and gave the bike through to Grin Triumph in Kennoway, Fife. He is a one man operation with a great rep for auld Triumphs. I dropped it off in March and picked it up a couple of days ago. He stripped the top end and rebored the barrels out to +20 and fitted new pistons. He also fitted new valves, guides, springs etc and vapour blasted all components. Apologies it's not a Yam, but hey...the sharp eyed will note that the vacuum covers on the carb gantry are actually Yam parts, so qualifies

I have a 1974 TX500A as the title says, and the clutch wont disengage. It happened while riding a few years ago. Shifted to first at a light with the lever pulled and it stalled. Ever since that day the clutch wont disengage the tranny. Have inspected the plates and measured everything seems to be in spec. The basket moves upon pulling the lever, however when its adjusted to allow that to happen, the kick start wont engage the motor. I have alot of car and small engine experience, but little with these old wet clutch's. Have put everything together according to the yamaha service manual for the bike and still wont disengage. The basket cover of the clutch separates from t…

I've bought an 'unfinished project' as building one from scratch was going to take too long despite my having collected most of the parts... I might start that after this one if I still have the will to live. 😄 I've got engine work to do. Have done one side, fitted side case and auto lube which was missing when I got it. On the flywheel side the stator wiring is missing a plug and I really dont want to cut the new loom so it's flywheel off to get to the stator. Flywheel came off easily and obviously wasn't torqued up. Then when I took the stator off the screws were barely hand tight, every single casing screw is loose with many of the heads chewed. Thankfully I…

At the start of summer my friend bought a Yamaha Aerox for £600 and it worked pretty much fine but 2 weeks after riding it, it wouldn't start. I do motor mechanics on cars and I've fixed lots of broken mopeds in the past. After it broke down he threw the air filter away and said 'It's f*cked'. I recently bought it off him for £90 and spent ages getting it started then the kick stand went through the new air box I had just bought so I asked him and he said that happened to him as well so that is why it broke down because it got all wet. I got a sports exhaust and it was running fine i got it MOTed and used it to go to work but on the way home last Tuesday it stopped get…

Hi there. I bought a French RS125 and plan to register it in Germany. Sadly do the French papers not list the proper technical information in order to do so. So far I could not find information online, nor does Yamaha return my request for info... Does anyone have a data sheet of that bike? I need to know (and be able to show that those data are published somewhere) about: db(A) during idle and in use Top speed hp/kw rpm All those are listed as zero in the French papers. (.. funny for a bike in at least running condition.) Help is appreciated.

Well what can i say, what started as a post-pub ebay "browse" ended up with me and my dad picking up the XJ650 Turbo from hemel Hempstead this morning story goes it belonged to an emergency response rider who had a heart attack 12 years ago and laid the bike up under a tarp in his garden, sadly he passed away on boxing day and the bike was listed on ebay by his widow, (where after several pints of bitter, i purchased it), so on the back of the sportage it went and after an hour and half (and a burger king) we arrived in hungerford where it was washed off and all the rotten bits assesed. It has 19k on the clock (believed to be original) and a Givi top box mount, …

This is the topic about my first and new project with my XJ600. My everyday bike in driving season (about April to October) is FZS1000. It is powerful and IMO goodlooking bike, although already 17 years old. I have driven 4 season with it and still love it. In winter, I saw the ad that -91 XJ600 is for sale. I thought that this is excactly what I need The right one to fulfill my dream - to build the scrambler by myself. I love to be hands-on, I have a garage and I can find time. It seemed like the chance to create something nice. So, I went to see the bike. It was under the shed and the owner said it has been there about 6-7 years without any drive. Be…

Here we go then, one 1976 V50P going through a bit of a tidy up. stripped down. I resprayed the top of the handle bars. New sprockets. hand painted bits that are not seen, for added rust protection. New brake shoes. and the piston looks like it needs replacing. More soon - Kayos

It's on its way from Colorado to the UK - be here mid/end of January and I can hardly wait! First jobs will be to thoroughly clean it, make obvious repairs - like the rubber parts which have suffered - and then to ride it! After that I'll start the process of really buffing it up. I hope I won't need to do much respraying, rechroming, etc., as it looks really good unrestored. I want to try to keep it that way. Anyway, I'll keep you posted at irregular moments as to how it's coming along. One thing that I'd appreciate... some info from anyone who has an original standard "flat handlebar" YDS3... could you let me have the following dimensions of the handlebar…

Hi and welcome to the start of my project. I found my little beauty leaning up against a shed in my mates Dads back garden. She looks a little worse for wear after being there for about 4 years, but is coming on slowly. I have got the engine running and will post photos and/or videos if I can as times goes on. Here is the XJ as I first found her after pulling the canvas cover off. I then got her home and found a mouse nest under the seat, but no mouse lol! Most things are dried out and seized up but are cleaning up nicely. The carburettors were well dried out and full of that lovely tar like substance which took some cleaning out. I have had a very quick clean u…

I'll make this short. A neighbor's grandson stored his YZ125 MX machine in grandpa's garage when he went off to university, some 10 years ago. Grandpa wants "us" to CONVERT the MX into a docile motorbike he can take to the mountain cabin and putt-putt around on dirt roads. With a cold beer in hand, we uncovered the 'project', and the first thing I saw was its height. Better make a list; #1: PuttPutt bikes do not include a stepladder. Replace the suspension. #2: Grandpa's butt will not fit. Replace the seat. #3: Grandpa will remove all the plastic parts in order to see the skeleton. AGREED! Week#2 I hoped that would…
