Hello, For the past 7 odd months I've been trying to rebuild my Yamaha DT125RE into a truly unique bike. Paid, bought and then cleaned for £1400 back in 2010 First big think I did was install a Kickstart onto it Then Sorted out a tail tidy for it. Acerbis Enduro Tailtidy

Well this is my new project, 1995 virago 250. Not sure what is missing as of yet but lots of work to do. The engine needs finishing off, previous owner had replaced one piston but needs the other doing. The new piston and rings are present but I have never done one so I'll learn as I attempt. I have the carbs but missing the diaphragm, spring and cover so I'll have to source those parts. Also missing front mud guard and exhaust. I have the header pipes and until I go through this lot, I'm unsure what else. All the chrome bits are rusted and everything else is just filthy but I'm not going to be discouraged, my Bros was worse and now it's a full running bike. Anyway I thou…

Hi guys, ive had a shed load of cars now im moving into bikes. Ive been brought up around them so its about time i started building a bobber. Some of my mates are apart of the vikings M.C. So hopefully ill be able to build a cracking bike. Ive had bikes before but this will be my first custom. The day i picked her up. So first things first i whipped the fenders off. Such an improvement already. I then started to remove all the chrome and respray some of them black. To see what they where like. Ill remove them and spray them black properly soon. My plans are to have as little on the bars as possible so switch relocation was next up. Ive fitted the horn…

As you can see I'm a newby but I thought I'd put my first real post in here. Here goes...................I bought an XJ 600 as a project for this summer - when ever that arrives :(. Of course a non-runner but I'm determined to get it going again. The bike had been standing for 4 years and the carbs had been removed within that time as with most of the other bits and pieces. Not surprising, the bike was seized. I say 'was' because it's now unsiezed after dropping tons of oil etc down the bores. As the carbs were off I spent a few days in September ( The indian summer we had) taking those to bits and giving them a good clean inside and out! So they are ready to go …

  12. Hi I've started a new project a couple of months back, and im close to finishing but running into a few problems so i thought i'd start sharing my progress to get help, and maybe even help others from this experience. I'll start with a couple of pics to show what it was and where im at. It was a chopped down, sought of chopper hybrid, thing. really ruff. in massive need of some tlc. I am making it into a Cafe Racer. I have so much to learn. This is when i got it: Here it is with the new fiberglass seat ready for fitting: Just after it was painted last week(frame, tank, steering clamps, seat): Getting motor in and fro…

Hi, What is the procedure for adding headlight, indicators, brake light and possibly horn (general road legality, MOT passing kind of stuff) to a bike that left the factory without them? I figured that the best way would be to replace the magneto with one from a road legal DT250, which has a lighting coil - problem is, ebay says that all of those (all of them!) are in the states and are very expensive. Short of trawling bike shows for someone that has exactly what I'm looking for, what are my options? Bear in mind also that the bike doesn't have to be practical but it does have to be pretty. Cheers!

Hey there guys. I am currently in the process of making a decision to trade in my ninja ex250 for a yamaha fzr600 to another local biker who wants a smaller bike. After looking at the bike, I have a couple of concerns i'd like to address, and possibly get some feedback on to see if it's worth doing the trade. First thing I noticed was a bar on the left hand side of the bike. It's attached to the fork, and the side of the frame, and looks like a piston. I am assuming it's a stabilizer of some sort, but i've never seen one on any bike before, and when the front wheel is straight, it protrudes out past the fairing on the bike. I could easily see it being a puncture…

Well, as one door closes another will open. As we all know now Betty has rode off into the distance with a new owner with her beautiful rumble still ringing in my ears, as this sad occasion passes by the void she has left has now been filled with Jennifer. Jennifer will be arriving at the house on Thursday where i can study her curves and lines and finally get to see what needs to be done to create a totally beautiful mechanical masterpiece. So what is Jennifer? what does she look like? is she a Yamaha? Well Jennifer is a 1972 Honda CB750 Chopper She's a bit of a dog at the moment and is yet to be UK registered due to being imported from the US but i …

As well as being my daily transport this is also a running project! It has its ups and downs... When its behaving itself it looks something like this: But following a spectacular main bearing failure I'm now in the process of rebuilding the 2A8 engine... Took a few minutes to remove the engine from the bike and get it on the bench. Does anyone know where I can source the correct right hand main bearing with the groove in it for the retaining clip??? 6304NX2 I seem to recall...
