Restoring my 1979 XS750SF to showroom condition. First time restoring a bike. Problem I'm having is electrical of course. It's been sitting indoors for over 2 years. Turn signals come on but do not flash and headlight/parking lights not coming on.. Any suggestions are gratefully welcomed.

Hello all, Im currently building a cafe racer using an MT07. My question is whether anyone knows if the XSR700 Single Seat (as linked below) would fit the MT. The bikes are similar in so many way i suspect it would, but theres just something about the shape of the tank. https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/gb/en/products/accessories/accessories-overview/single-seat/b34-f4710-00-00/ My google searches bring up Jvb moto Super 7 mods, but obviously thats not quite what im looking for. Thanks in advance!

  4. Hi all! I recently bought a 2015 YBR to use daily. It needed some work (a new engine which I already had due to a doaner bike & to fix the brake light from being constantly on) I recently had the engine swapped over and the bike fired up no problem (the brake light is still an issue) Today I took off the rear brake switch and fitted the one from my doaner bike. This did not fix the brake light issue but seems to have caused the bike to cut out after about 30 seconds and the engine warning light to come on (3 long flashes and 3 short flashes which is Fault Code 33 - Problem with Ignition Coil) As I only swapped the rear brake switch I can’…

I'm in the process of re-birthing an 82 xj550 and will be posting some updates along the way. I've started a picture thread in the gallery as well but will keep the technical discussion over here. Can anyone confirm that the crank case and trans are the same between the 550 and 650? I've been debating doing a parts swap on the case I have to upgrade it. If it's too much modification then I'll just redo the bike with the original bottom-end. The original head is in the spare parts bin with a heavily scored exhaust cam cap on #1. I have a decent used head on the way and will hopefully get another 30 years out of this re-build. I found a cam set from a bike with 1000 miles a…

Hi all, I've just got my first (real) bike. It already has some good customisation to the paint and the bobber seat and things. Couple of bits I am looking for some advice on though: It doesn't have any mud guards - anywhere good in UK that does some nice ones? I was looking in to the solid struts to replace the rear shocks - A. not sure if that's a good idea, B. not sure where does good ones? White wall tyres? Have not manage to find any online? Where is a good online place to order general service items such as plugs, oil, filters, brakes and the such? I usually use euro car parts for my car but not sure where's good/cheap for bikes I fo…

Hello there everyone I was wondering if anyone could help me with finding a kick mechanism for my 2004 dt125 I can't find one anywhere. Thanks in advance

Hello I'm sorry I am asking about this on this site but I really need some help. I have just acquired a Suzuki sp370 either 78 or 79 don't know. she is a bitch to kick and was wondering if anyone knew if these bikes had a decompression valve on them. There seems to be a little lever on the cylinder head which I would expect to be a decompression lever but any information that I read about the bike doesnt say it has one.again sorry for asking about a Suzuki on this site.

  11. Hey folks, I picked up a 1982 XJ service manual microfiche card and am going to have it digitized into a searchable PDF. Is there anyone else that has Microfiche that would like to have it converted? It will be more cost effective to do a set of cards instead of just 1 or 2. Attached is the microfiche card I'm sending off. It is in great shape. Here is the eBay seller a few hours away that's selling the cards, he has a bunch of models available for around $6 each. I will purchase the card and arrange for digital conversion for you. The PDF will be sent via email as soon as the conversion is completed and postal mail delivery of the card if you want it. Once I have a…

Hi, today I went to see how is my bike doing. But it didn't even start :D the starter is probably OK, my back light and horn works. But the rest is off. I checked the battery, it is fully charged. Any ideas?

Few problems with the start of my project but eres 1st thing that has me baffled is when I turn my ignition on,I only get a green neutral light lit up. No red with side stand up and down. But I've always been a 4 wheel driver, and knew a car needs oil/battery lights to start/bump... But looked at some on u tube and seem near sure, its not necessarily the same... Can you or members confirm please...

https://photos.app.goo.gl/KijcyxeKijcyxe5Z7Nc8vvS6 Hi. I'm new to motorcycles but am a long time car guy. I picked up a 1979 xs1100 and have come accross an oil leak. It is located in the center of the front of the engine. can someone please tell me what this is, I thought maybe it was some type of oil sending unit.

  16. Started by Oldfjman,

After over 20 years of service, in early 2010 I decided it was time to give my FJ1200 a spruce up and to replace/upgrade a few bits (it had done over 50k miles, but was running perfectly). Since I'd bought an Aprilia RSV Mille as my main "fun" and track-day bike in 2003, this FJ had seen little use other than occasional touring over the period 2005-2009. Other issues that compounded things were that my wife had a Fazer 1000 which I also rode and we had trail/enduro bikes which we rode - at one point there were 11 bikes in the garage. On top of these, I got promoted at work in 2004, then we moved 200 miles in 2006 and work got even more heavy, so less and less of …

Well I made a resolution to get my auld 59 Speedtwin on the road this year. I initially set it up in the style of a Cafe Racer (love the look, but can't afford a Triton). I purchased a set of rear sets and made up the hangers and linkages. I also adapted a seat from a modern Triumph before fabricating a bump seat. Finally I fitted a set of clip ons. I then finished all the wee jobs I needed to get it on the road and about a month ago I took it out for it's first shakedown ride. There were more false neutrals than a Switzerland v Sweden footie game and the clutch was very stiff It was also highly uncomfortable. Back to the false neutral, my belief…

Hello, I am rebuilding a 1980 RD50M, a lot of the work has been done and is looking good but I am short of a couple of parts. I am after, either to buy or borrow to copy are; rear indicator brackets. Also a MPH speedo to buy. I have tried all the usual places, with no luck, even Holland and Belgium. The bike is a German market model hence the rear indicator brackets are different and the speedo. Any help much appreciated.
