After successfully restoring a 1964 Yamaha YDS3, a 1972 Kawasaki H1B, a 1964 Honda CB77 my next project is a 1968 Yamaha YR2C. I have rebuilt the engine and Hydra blasted it and it looks better than new. This bike only has 10,000 miles on the speedo so mechanically was sound and in good condition. It doesn’t even need to go over size just a new set of std rings and a hone to bring it up. I am after an air filter as one is missing and I cannot find one anywhere, I would take 2 as the one I have really needs replacing so if any one could help I would be very appreciative. Starting to dismantle Images of motor after Hydra Blasting and…

Hey all, about 2 monthe ago I bought an xj600 1998, it was an unfinished project so I thought I'd try and get it back on the road. After a bit or research I found it hadn't been on the road in ten years all the wireing was duff (indicator turned the head light on the pass switch was now horn and so on. So I took off the carbs and cleaned every inch of them. After that the wiring harnes came out. Looked all through that and wired all switches correctly. Then I had an issue of the main fuse blowing as soon as I turn the key. 28 fuses later I narrowed it down to carb heater relay. Now to get her running air box was knakered so I got some pod filters for the top of carbs, loo…

Hi, im new here. I have a question, I recently got a yamaha fz1 2005. I jumped the thermostat radiator cables in order to have the fan always on, I did the same on a sv650 2000, but this time did not get the expected result, after that, no more rpm reading, the needle was dead. I after discovered that the problem was the water pump, so maybe the thermostat was ok. I did not get the fan on, why? I removed the jump and ended wiring the fan just directly to the battery, using a switch, after that the electrics seems ok, just the speedometer that won't turn on. Does anybody know what exactly happened? I checked the fuses and seemed ok. thanks.

Hi all, I've been restoring a DT50MX for the last year or so and after giving it a run around the block it's clear that not all is right with it! I suspect it's carb related, it runs ok at small throttle openings but anything more than that and it just bogs downs and will die unless I back off the throttle, occasionally it will rev out so I'm wondering if it is suffering from fuel starvation (when it dies it's similar to running out of petrol). So, where to start? Should I alter the height of the float in the carb? Any advice / suggestions welcomed! Cheers.

Hello all, very happy to finally have a Yamaha xs360. Love the way it looks. I recently purchased this motorcycle and it is not running. I would like to get the proper manual for it. It is a 1977 Yamaha xs360. It came with a manual for a Yamaha xs360c although the bike is not an xs360c. Is the manual the same for all the 360s? Or do I need to find another's manual? Thanks for any help

I have a Yamaha YBR125 with a bit of a dilemma. Under the exhaust used to be a piece of metal welded to it with a rubber stop which held the centre stand in place. Long story short that metal has fell off the exhaust so the stand hits the chain now going too far up into the bike. I’ve tried thinking of ways to stop it but can’t come up with a decent solution. Been using cable ties to hold it in line with the side stand. Anyone got any creative ideas? I’m a guy with little tools so unable to drill holes or anything and would like to keep the main centre stand on. Thanks! wont let me post any pictures D:

Hi All, well i pretty much covered everything in my Intro so we'll get straight to the point. This Project Bike was my dads. When we picked it up there were enough parts to probably build two bikes if there had a second frame. Towards the end of dads life he was in so much of a hurry, the Yami was assembled as quick as possible so hopefully he would be able to ride it before he passed. unfortunately his illness stole this dream of a few laps on the Broadford classic track. When i summoned up the nerve to go into dads shed after he passed my heart broke as i saw this, Dads project bike that he worked on right up until he went into Hospice / …

Right here goes, Had a sudden want for a bike last year, and a good friend had just finished his xvs650 build, after seeing that I knew that was what I wanted! So the search started and I was struggling to find anything for under 2k! And I didn't want to chop up that much money, but then on an app called shpock a bike turned up, been sat for a while, bottom end knock, spare engine and then a spare bottom end with a brand new crank (fitted by Yamaha specialists), basically we filled the back of a transit connect all for £450! Needless to say we drove off like we stole the bike Started the strip down completely pulled it to bits to see what I was dea…

So, got myself an '83 TR1 that i wanted to bring up to date and turn into a bit of a street tracker look First job was to offer up the new front end I will be using - a 2004 GSXR750. Replacement bearings is all that will be needed (apart from maybe reducing the height of the head locking nuts) Image resized to : 52 % of its original size [ 960 x 720 ] Then the strip down started. Electrics aside, which were a mess, there were no hidden nightmares Image resized to : 48 % of its original size [ 1024 x 1365 ] Image resized to : 52 % of its original size [ 960 x 960 ] Image resized to : 52 % of its original size [ 960 x 720 ] Over the next few days I'll be…

Hi All So this is my first attempt at building up a road bike I picked up this SR125 from a friend that owns a bodyshop for ..... Free He had too many projects and needed the space so took delivery and stayed in the shed for roughly 5 years. How it looked on delivery day Essentially all complete however the battery was dead as and he couldn't find the keys - not much of an issue Only 15k and a bit rough around the edges but most parts are going to be replaced so not too worried So a few weekends ago it was time to drag - yes drag out the shed with rusted beyond belief chain and flat as a pancake tyres All the plastics removed, headlight, ind…

Hi all, I've got a little bit of a project on my hands. I've been given a DT175 by a friend of ours - originally for a go-kart but I've decided 2 wheels are far more fun. Anyway when he dropped it off on first inspection everything looked a lot better than he had originally described. The engine was purring away really nicely for something that had been sat for 12 years or so! As a type the frame, swing arm, tank, handlebars and a few other bits are getting sandblasted ready for a re-spray, carb is off having been cleaned and awaiting a new gasket before it is reunited with the engine. I'm playing the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' card on the engine, and leaving i…

So this DT always pulled better then my 2nd one with a rebuilt engine..which could mean it was running bit lean. Ive never opened the engine and always had bit of a piston slap noise..but ran it about 2000km (only used for short trips). Then just over a year ago got a weird noise after a 1st gear power wheelie in which I probly wasnt quick enough into 2nd. Decided to park it until such time I could give it proper attention. Head and barrel off and found huge play on conrod..piston and bore not too bad..so engine will be split to do crank. Will post more pics to keep u posted.

2 post in one 27/3/2017 Hi All, I have just been given a bike and its an FZ750 i am planning on trying to get it running as it has sat in a shed for 17 years,, i do like a challenge, though i will need help. The good -- Has compression and all parts attached it a complete bike The bad -- has not run for 17 years & radiator core is broken This weekend i pulled the tank and splashed some fuel down the carbs, hooked up the car battery (not running) and hit the starter. engine turning over but not cranking. it sounded like the starter was spinning so pulled the alternator and then the starter and check the starter gears teeth, All good all ther…

Hi guys ! I've introduced myself and my bike in the new members zone and I think this is the right place to continue the discussion regarding the restoration that I'm planning to do on my bike. It's an XT 600E 3TB from 1994 with electric start. The bike is at a service shop for first maintenance and repairs since I got it but I plan on doing future maintenance and almost all repairs at home in the future. (I didn't want to mess up something with the brakes for example and have a small accident because of that and I preferred someone with deeper knowledge about four stroke engines to have a look at it first). There are a few important things to fix and repla…
