Well after the abuse from Tommy here is the thread on the little 50cc scooter i picked up on Wednesday for £35, i only took three photos of it last night as i was doing the forks on Betty as well so i will get some more pics later tonight for you all. She is a Peugeot Trekker 50 in black and red with a shit load of mud and moss (yes i did say moss) got 24k on the clock no tax or MOT and so far ive not come across the keys, and when i asked him if he had them he said yes........some where in that pile. Plan of action is to get this tarted up as best i can with a budget of £100 and then sell it on for a profit (as best i can) so i can put some money into Betty. …

As you all know I have had problem after problem with my XT from the day 1. From minor to major and everything in between. I have spent close to £2k in parts and labour since buying her just over a year ago. The latest problem is the clutch. I can only get 2nd and 3rd gear and there is a rattling sound coming from the clutch area of the bike. Now as you have probably guessed I am not the most gifted person when it comes to the mechanical side of bikes, but I intend to try and sort this problem out myself. I am going to begin by opening the clutch cover and having a look so I can compare and consult with my Haynes. The bike sold on eBay for £605 and I was really tempted to…

So here is my AT1, bought as a non running import from a local restoration business. Story goes that it was only used to drive a mile up a track to the mail box and back again each day so never got registerd in the US for road use hence no title but it did have the C & E 386 to say all UK import duties paid. Plan is to get it registered on an age related number but as I've never done this before I'm learning as I go. As far as I know I will need: 1, dating letter (yamaha owners or vjmc) 2, mot (on frame number) 3, insurance (on frame number) 4, dvla form v55 5, fee 6, tax d…

  6. I'm looking at a new windscreen for my 1986 FZ600 - cheapest I can find is $100 and I'm not paying that for a $900 bike....I can live with the crack, but, there are much cheaper windscreens for the 1986 FZR400 (which look identical to the FZ600 of the same year) - but I'm not 100% sure if it'll fit. So question: Will the windscreen from a 1986 FZR400 fit a 1986 FZ600? *I think I posted this in the wrong section.... sorry mods! Move it if you need to please!

Has anyone ever done a hardtail conversion to an xs500? Will the xs650 hardtail kit work for this?

  8. Hi all new to the forum, thought I'd start a thread on my DT rebuild. I bought the DT about 8 months ago, when I bought it it looked like this. TOP SPEC AS FOLLOWS: Powervavle pegged open, badly! Rusty DEP full system Wobbly back wheel (2 spokes missing) Scuffed plastics Rusted twisted chain Home made number plate bracket that spun sideways Generally s#*t condition Not in the best nick, but I wasn't concerned about that because it cost me £1050 with tax and MOT a full tank of petrol and a few spares! I got it home, fixed number plate, un-pegged the YPVS and got it working properly and used it for work for about 6 months. Then on…

If your carb has a SCREW near the INTAKE MANIFOLD side the Carb has a FUEL RATIO MIXTURE Adjustment screw. Turning the Fuel Ratio Mixture Clockwise LEANS it Turning it Counter Clockwise RICHENS it. The Idle Speed screw is on the Throttle Control Wheel that the Throttle Cable pulls on. The Idle Speed Screw usually has a SPRING under it to keep the setting. Turning that Clockwise RAISES the Idle and Turning it Counter Clockwise LOWERS the Idle. Most of your 250+ scoots come with 30+ mm Carbs. The procedure is the same just that the Fuel Ratio Mixture Screw may be in a Different place. They also have a ACV Valve that looks like a flying saucer attached to the front top…

OK I`ve decided I must do this. This is the target result. Spotted a likely candidate for this project today. Don`t even have to paint the tank.

Finally after 10 months of blood, sweat and $'s the 1973 DT3 is finished. I bought it literally as a frame with a box of parts, which included the engine, seat, and tank. I had to find out what lots of part were as I went along. Like another member said the Yamaha parts list is the most valuable piece of assistance you can get. It's been a steep learning curve and have enjoyed most of it, but the final product is far better than I could have imagined. I was doing it to sell but just cant bring myself to do it, so I'll use it for a little while :-) Hope you like :-) more pics http://s1073.photobucket.com/user/oldfkr/library/1973%20Yamaha%20DT3
