Got this bike a couple of weeks ago and posted about it in sub forum. I've just had some time this week to start working on making it road legal. It'll be used as an off-roader and the XT will still be my commuter bike. I don't have a trailer so it needs to be legal enough to get me to the trails. Here it is in it's initial state. And next to my XT. I've had a lot of info from some of the members about where to begin in my first thread and a special thank you to dt502001 for covering a lot more detailed stuff . Initial issues No speedometer (only an odometer) Exhaust has no baffle Small number plate 6x5 (not road legal 9x7) Rear tyre for race/c…

Well " its taken 3 years,,, built from a box,, this became clear why it was chucked in a garage corner,, Bent valve - all rollers tensioners shot, non maching numbers ,and the wrong number plate, I think someone took all the good bits to build another Zed,,, it was a nightmare to register , Inspection - Nova, dating cert,,, all because of trying to register on that wrong plate,, it was off another Zed900.

On a strange impulse I bought this a couple of weeks ago.... Its an American import, and to my reading of the frame and engine number (CT1 - 120315) it is a CT3 175, circa 1973. It starts, runs and selects all gears. But...(there's always a but, isnt there?) The kickstart flops about and doesnt engage unless you lean the bike to the right. Not ideal. Most of the bike seems to be in reasonable order, and there is some common parts to the TY's I'm used to working with (I have two that I trial regularly) so I thought I'd investigate further. Pulling the side case off showed the problem to be a little more serious than I expected. Finding hal…

ok about ten years ago i was given this xs250 by a friend after my kwak 125 was nicked and burnt out. it was ran for about a month was really spluttery and crap. inspection found that the spark plug had been snapped in the head and then welded together i have never rebuilt an engine before, and i want to, so i figured that seeing as the engine was already pretty much knackered then i would do it to this one and get it back on the road and outta my garage. so engine was taken out the offending spark plug i then set about stripping it down to sort it. the head didnt want to budge but i got it afer a while and much effort to…

G'day everyone, stoked to be apart of the yamaha club. Just pick up a TX500 Have a bunch of questions that I hope you could help me with. but for now I'll ask just a few. It looks to be sitting for a while without be kicked over. (for who knows how long) We are starting off by replacing the battery/spark plugs. To see if we can get it running. Do you recommend doing anything else before trying to kick it over? At the same time we will run some new oil through it, do you recommend "flushing" the engine first? I have read bad things about flushing engines saying it can damage seals etc. Cheers Aaron

Well I bought this bike off a lad at work who blew it up, he is 22 clem after all and blew this up then a kdx200 up before he listened to me and bought a 4 stroke lol, well decided to spend this winter doing this up for myself to see if I can get some of my youth back lol. I havnt got many pics of it but will add more as we go along, so far have took all the panels, tank and seat off and fitting dt125x panels instead, then fully strip powder coat and paint and convert to supermoto as it would not see dirt so might as well have road wheels/tyres. pics so far as i got it, damage to it which turned out to bad so have sourced another engine which will be stripped and checked…

  8. Started on my new project recently, so thought I'd post up in here my progress so far. The idea is to put a 1992 TZR125R 4DL2 Belgarda engine into a DT125R frame, an idea I've had for a while now. I've managed to get hold of a 1992 DTR frame, just need to send it off to the powdercoaters, along with 3spoke TZR wheels and swingarm. DT124R frame TZR 3 spoke Wheels Managed to get hold of a bottom end TZR125 4DL2 Belgarda engine Searched high and low for a TZR125 4DL2 Barrel and Cylinder head, but no joy, so now banging on a 3MB Head and Barrel, which comes a close second best. After a good clean up and paint job on the engine, and finding a 38mm Keih…

Well peeps, i picked up what i thought was a Mk1 RD50MX only to find that its an RD80MX! In need of lots of TLC and missing some vital parts, but no doubt there are precious few of these in existance now. one of the biggest problems im finding is the engine, 80 units are hard to come by and although the DT50 shared engines with the RD50, GT50 and TY50 bikes im wanting to find out if the crankcases, the primary gear ratios are the same for all models of DT50 and DT80 so hopefully i can use the same gearbox. does anyone have access to a microfiche or parts catalogue and could shed some light on this? the shopping list is growing, but wont be doing anyth…

  12. anyone ever built a motorcycle? ether putting another engine into a frame not built for that engine, or built a custom frame? me and my old man are toying with the idea but cant make heads or tales of the govs' Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval (MSVA) notes. Anyone got any advice? if we were going for a custom frame it would be done by an engineering company, probs someone specialising in custom frames - not really the kind of thing you want shabby welds on so on so on. Thanks, Matt

So this is it current condition. I'm hoping to start dismantling it soon. Just got to make some space in the garage to store all the bits. It was left outside for a year so everything is rusted and seized. Engine seems to be seized too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got an sr few weeks ago, it's quite mechanically sound, passed it's mot and that's great, there's a few minor things like I adjusted the clutch lever and the neutral light was always on (now fixed) other than that it's a 1994 bike so bound to have a bit rust, took the seat off, tank, mud guards and under neath the frame is okay, little rust so used a little sand paper, rust killer then gonna paint it (Before it was really rusty) Sanding down the tank, panels etc going to give them a respray since the bike looks like it's been dropped a few times And it's a bit scratched. Other than that been cleaning up the engine which is coming okay (not yet finished) …

Hello sorry if this Isn't in the right spot but I'm having some issues with a 78 dt175 that I purchased recently. I did some minor work to it new gas cleaned the peakcock took the carb apart cleaned it as well as I could(I plan on running a can of sea foam through heard it works wonders) and a new plug. It only starts and run with the choke on however it does start very easily. Also I can't give it any significant throttle or rev it at all really i tried manually moving the piston with my finger but the result is pretty much the same. I can't figure it out at all. Also it sputter oil out the exhaust like crazy I'd appreciate all and any suggestions thanks
