Hi all, I'm new to the forum and I'd like your advice in the virago 535 mods. I'm looking for a virago 535 and I'm wondering if in case I buy a 90 model if I can fit the 95 dual cilinder front brake caliper and disk brake as well the latest starter motor without doing any mods. The versions previously to 95 are much cheaper that's why I'm considering to buy one but then uprate the parts with the newest models ones. Also, I have a bobber project in mind for this motorbike. By the way, any advice when inspecting a second hand virago 535? Thank you, Nelson

Bought this bike on Saturday without knowing anything about bikes, just passed my CBT and loved the look of this bike so much that I had to get one. As I didn't know what I was doing its been a steep learning curve. This morning I didn't even know what a carburetter was. here's a list of repairs/issues I think I've identified: Fuel tap does not fully shut off fuel line leaking - temp fixed and ordered replacement carb overflow does not stop leaking fuel no air filter air filter housing has had hole cut into it - ordered replacement from a breaker rust/ dirt in fuel tank revs 3000 at idle - resolved oil tube that goes to carb was leaking - fixed this a…

Had this bike from new, and after much procrastinating thought I might bring it back to something like original condition. Not much of a mechanic, but know the right end of a spanner and have a bit of common sense (at least I think so), and began the task. This led me to problem #1. speedo stopped working about 20 years ago , cable missing for last 15.When I pulled the front hub apart the speedo gears seem jammed . any ideas how to get them moving or out? Hey peoples! I thought my YBR125 could look a bit better, a bit more "rugged" I suppose... So I bought the following things from eBay: Cheapo lowered but longer handlebar with brace £19 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 Cheapo hand guards although they do protect my hands from the icy winds pretty well £12 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 (In my opinion) Alright handlebar grips £16 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 Gimmicky little dust caps £1.50 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 Finally, a pretty decent waterproof mount mainly for my phone £20 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 The first job was obviously to get th…

Good easter morning. This is my first post other then my new to intro. I have been riding and racing bikes since the 60's in the eastern US so I'm not new to motorcycling. I have a tendancy to be drawn to bikes that few around me have any interest in. Case in point is my latest purchase of a 1987FZR750RT. Unlike the ones on ebay that some owner is trying to sell as a super rare, gift from the god's motorcycle, mine is a well running bike with battle scars from the track that had been turned back to a street bike. I am on the fence weather to put it back on the track (for track days only) or just clean it up for the street. I didn't get to the track much in the 80's as the…

I am fixing up a DT250 and am changing the oil in the tranmission and it call for 1000 cc. I put a 1000 cc in it and checked the dip stick and it goes up half way the the dip stick. The dip stick has a flat on the bottom about half inch up, I am not sure it correct dip stick ,but the oil goes about a inch and a half over flat, What is the reason for the flat in the bottom of the dip stick? Is it alright for the oil to go 1 1/2 over it? Any ideas?? Buckskin

Hi folks. As promised, heres the start of my project thread. I've had the notion for a project for a while, and having always had a soft spot for 400s, I couldnt resist this when i spotted it. Its a 1992 (according to the logbook) Honda VFR400 NC30. I believe the bodywork to be a Tyga fairing, either Tyga or K-Conversions seat unit & exhaust. Heres a pic of the new addition & its stablemate, it feels like a feather compared to the VTR!! The bodywork is all pretty sound. Theres a few minor bits needing attention, like where the mirrors were bolted on. Bike is turning over freely but has stood for a few years so i…

Day two of registering on here and somebody suggested posting my work so as the title says, I'm giving it a go. I've just tried to upload a couple of pictures but they failed miserably so I'll try at home over the weekend becuase it will be nice for you to see where I am stuck when I come grovelling for help (and oh yes, there will be grovelling) I've banged on a bit about the bike and why I got it in the new member section so I won't bore you to tears here. Basically, I bought this off ebay as it was a runner with full tax and mot. I only noticed when I picked it up that the following were missing :- 1 - Front and rear indicators 2 - left hand switch 3 - rea…
