Well, i am here tearing my hair out and i am running out of time, i am hopeing someone out there can help me. I am due for an extended tour of Europe and Asia next week and my 97 XTZ660 3YF has is causing major concern. The weekend before last i was in Wales. Very wet day and very muddy. I went through a few deep puddles at not an excessive speed but shortly afterwards the bike cut out dead. No electrics at all with the ignition on. Anyway, i found the problem to be the main fuse had gone, but when i replaced it the bike would only start with the sidestand up and when i put it down once it was running it would try and cut out. Furthermore none of the electric…

Went out for a spin with RoadRash & Camas from http://www.trailpilgrim.com today.......Our mission, which we chose to accept, was to get as close to the lookout towers @ the top of Goat Mtn, as we could. We went out through some nice twisties in the country & came across a road-block.....but as usual, 2-Wheels Prevail! So what's all the fuss about?....Hell, there's still one good lane left! That road had quite a bit of debris left from the recent rain & winds...not to mention there wasn't ANY traffic on it! We then made our way up into part of the Mt. Hood Nat'l Forest where Goat Mtn. resides.... Right about here is when Camas de…

Went out today for a spin to visit some old favorite destinations.... Mt. Hood from SpringWater Rd. along the Clackamas River .... Speaking of the Clackamas river .... Snuck the XT onto a section of a Frisbee Golf course @ McIver state park .... & had to get a pic from 1 of my favorite RD roads .... Then like a DumbArse.....I went & broke the fuel petcock lever off when I got home! ....I'll have to get that sorted....& then onto a spanner-turning session with the RD

.....somewhere near Cartagena! I'd seen posters advertising this event but I couldn't make any sense of the directions. So I thought....no problem, just get into Cartagena and follow the bikes! However I was wrong! I get into Cartagena, and the only thing I can see are scooters! Oh....and a bike up a wall! So I keep going and I find a Ninja in front of me....so I start following him! Cos he must be going to the Moto Exhibition surely? However, this dipshit thinks I want to race him through the centre of Cartagena! So he's riding like a Twat trying to lose me.....and try as he may, he couldn't shake off the XT! Every bit of straight he'…

Departed last Saturday for Prineville where my brother lives....as I needed to be in Bend on Monday for a job interview. My timing wasn't bad as I was trying to dodge some snow showers that were occurring @ the pass on Hwy 26. Shoulda seen the looks I got from some punk-ass SnowBoarders in the parking lot of Mt. Hood SkiBowl as I 2-Wheeled through in the snow. I then went just up the road to Gov't Camp to top off the tank, where the pump-jockey referred to me as the StuntMan ..... I then forged on through the wet snow that fortunately wasn't sticking too well to the tarmac. Made it through the pass & out onto the plateau that leads across the Warm Springs …

Is the exhaust system (ie the entire pipe system) of the XT660R stainless steel? I know this is pretty basic question, but I don't seem to be able to find anything on this - not even from Yamaha spec sheet. I know the chassis is steel. Does it mean it will rust away if left outside? The TDM900 is great - aluminium chassis and stainless steel exhausts, great for someone that can't afford a garage (living in central London).

.....for the XT350! For those of you who don't know the history of this bike....the wife saw it stored at the back of an old carpet clearance warehouse in Mid Wales last June. She told me about it, so I went and made enquiries and it turned out that it belonged to the shop owner. Apparently he'd bought it some years previously, rode it to his warehouse, and just never used it. It was 14 years old, original tyres and battery with a verifiable 5300 miles from new. So I made him an offer, bump started it, and rode it away. The rest is history! When I was about to move to Spain, I put it up for sale. But when it came to the crunch I couldn't sell i…

I have derestricted and fitted a DEP backbox to my DT125r and it seems to have made no real difference to the performance because it seems to lose power at 7k rpm. Has anyone had this problem or know anything I can do to sort it. Cheers, Millsey

i have a 1989 dt125r which has a dep exhaust system, performance reeds ,working power valve and when it hits the powerband it goes very well, but when at very low revs it will not tickover and will die when opening the throttle, from about 3000rpm it is fine i stripped and cleaned the carb and found nothing amiss,in fact it was clean so it is not blocked jets ,the main jet is 210 ,when starting the bike does need choke ,but when it has been run for a couple of minutes it will start fine but you have to catch it on the throttle to get it to rev ps i cant give the bike max revs yet due to running in and the engine is turning freely any help would be appreciated

For those of you still stuck in dear old Blighty, and having to contend with sub zero temperatures and all the trails getting closed.....here's something that I'm sure will cheer you up! Took an hour's break from house-hunting, making Spanish friends, and avoiding fuckwit Brits, by taking the XT350 for a jaunt. It hadn't seen the light of day for about 2 weeks, so I thought I'd give it a quick spin down the road. I wasn't planning any offroading, but you just ride along and see trails everywhere.....so you tend to get sidetracked. Firstly I did a couple of miles along the sea front.....roads were busy! Then I found a gentle gravel path near the …

As it's been non-stop since I moved to Spain 3 weeks ago, we decided to have a day to chill out. So I thought it would be a good opportunity to put the 350 through it's paces. I travelled about 15 miles from El Algar to Portman via the dirt tracks....however most of the time I didn't have a clue where I was. I turned off the main road, followed some paths and came across a huge disused quarry which had tracks right across the mountains. Then I came across the remains of what looked like some sort of mine....this photo could have been taken in Wales. After getting out of the quarry (eventually) the roads were quite gentle.... …
