Went out for a ride yesterday with a mate....to have a close look @ Mt. St.Helens from a place called the Windy Ridge viewpoint. We'd heard reports of snow possibly closing the road near the destination, but ran into the white stuff a bit sooner than we thought...... So after deciding that the snow was covering what little tarmac we had left..... We got our bikes turned around & started heading back......all the while enjoying the quiet endless miles of twisties We then found this other nice little viewpoint..... *I've gotta get myself a proper Digi-Cam like my mates! Instead of this dodgy camera/phone ..which fortunately, my bo…

My first bike, dt 125 r, and I can't even get the steering lock to work. I'm gonna contact the guy I got it off but first I thought I'd try here. I turn the bars to the right and revealed is what i assume is the steering lock. I pull the slider back, put the key in, and its not turning. (It is the right key fits well ) I thought maybe i had to get a precise angle with the turning bars so I tried all positions and it still wont turn they key, is it me or the bike?? Anyone with any knowledge of how to help would be appreciated. Thanks alot Also any tried n tested good portable security devices for the bike? I've stripped alot of typical dt par…

I think it's fairly well known that I'm a big fan of Yamaha...both their products and the company itself. In many ways they're the least conventional, and the most innovative of the big four Japanese manufacturers. And in one particular area they stand head and shoulders above the rest...and that's customer service. They stand behind everything they produce...and to them, the customer is king! Example? Check out this service bulletin.... I had the XT serviced last Friday and it was recognised that my model number stands within the range of possible duff ECU's. So the dealer ordered the part, it arrived today, and gets fitted Monday....all covered…

I've got an 89 DT125r with a flatslide mikuni and i'm puzzled as to what the pipe to the right hand side of the venturi is for, on my bike it doesnt go anywhere. Ive had the carb apart and it appears to be part of the main jet circuit. Would just like to kno as i'm currently having a problem with my bike melting pistons (2 so far, but thats another story). If this link works you will see a pic of the pipe i'm on about http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/385238/ Cheers Greg

Hello all, hows it goin? Anyway, just joined as i need some help. Where do all you DT 250 owners get bits for your bike. Most dealers only seem interested in new bloody bikes, especially poxy KTM's. Any info would be appreciated as i was kinda hoping to do some enduros on it and rallies for which its got to be road legal. Cheers and all the best, Rob.

Well, I've been off my XT for a month now.....& I'll be the 1st to say: It's Drivin' Me MAD! I've done a full electrical check on my XT550 after it quit for no appearant reason whilst getting on the Freeway on the way to work one Friday morning........after scratching my head alot, I decided to call a Bike Mechanic friend of mine who actually likes electrical challenges! We checked all the voltages on the signal coils down @ the crank which were fine.....So we then came to the conclusion that the Primary coil right above the motor, was possibly the culprit........2 weeks & $90 later.....it wasn't! .......So now I'm faced with replacing the only possible cul…

As you know, i've just got my bike sorted. Well all was good, done about 70miles on it driving round london. The only problem was my fingers were freezing about 430pm today i thought i'd pop to the motorbike shop and get some inner thermal gloves and maybe to nice winter ones .....anyway the bike would start!! Took checked the lines, checked the plug, no joy! ....so i thought F@~K it, there must be something wrong with the carb. Took it to bits quickly and put it back together and the bikes starts but revs like a bitch. Adjusted the cable and now all good. now, i'm going down the road thinking the bike feels sluggish, i conclude in my head that its c…

Hi there every one need a little help or ideas I brought this dt 125 lc engine of EBAY and I am having a little trouble verifying which model it may be. I will start of by saying it is not a power valve model and I am using the blue Haynes manual as source of my data. The carb seems to be from a mk3 as its 26 mm and the serial number matches( although it this may not be the original). The alternator wires match up with the mk 3 diagram aswell as having an external pick up( could this have been changed to convert tp 12 volt). No mk1,s had power valve right, but what about mk2 & mk3,s are they all power valve or was it fitted to just certain models.Engine number 12W-00…

Hi all, I'm considering putting a YZ250 engine in my SZR660 chassis (660 engine long gone, RD350 YPVS waiting in its place) to go racing in the Bemsee MiniMono class. The only (obvious) hurdle is the cost of a good, late model YZ250 lump. Does anyone have any idea how much a '98-on lump would cost? Cheers, Mick.
