Hi. Does anyone know if the rear wheel from the 77-ish xt500 (with aluminum rim) or even the later-model dtmx rear wheel (also with aluminum rim) will bolt onto a 75/76 dt400 (which comes stock with steel rim)? The wheel bearing ID is the same. I understand that the monoshock dts have a different brake backing plate but a xt one (and maybe one from a 75/76 dt as well) will likely fit. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there, Im new to this form and the bike. I'm looking for the carb setting specs and maybe tips on jetting. The bike runs pretty good but does not like quick throttle bursts and will miss and chug a bit. I had a TT600 and know there is a lot to setting the opening to the second carb, poss problem? Thanks

I've just bought a 2006 xt 225 after years of owning a 82 xt. I've done 2000 k's on it and have found it to be a great all round bike so far ( as I knew it would be). My old xt had a metal luggage rack on the back which I found really useful. I was wondering if anyone out there would be able to tell me where I could get another one? I've searched the net for ages but have had no luck. I like going bush and would like to strap some stuff to the back of it. I'm in western australia so will probably have to order it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Happy riding!

Help !! I have been given a non running 1993 XTZ660 3YF which I was told only needed a cdi unit, regulator/rectifier and a coil. After purchasing these items on e-bay, I realised there is a zenna diode in the place where the regulator/rectifier goes. There is no record of this diode in the Yamaha service manual. Is it just the case of taking this off and replacing it with the new regulator/rectifier or would the diode work with the new cdi unit

Hey guys, I'm looking for some honest advice here. I'm ready to purchase my first and most likely last bike for a very long time. 100% of my riding will be trail. I'm 6ft, 170lbs. So far I have narrowed the search down to the WR and XCF. As mentioned, I'm looking for some honest advice. I'd prefer not to hear go blue or go home. Not only am I torn between the yami and ktm, I'm also wondering if the 250 is enough or should I go to the 450. I have ridden in the past but that was 15 years ago. For all intense and purposes you can call me a newbie. The problem I have is I don't want so much bike that I'll be afraid to hop on the thing but I also don't want to "out grow" tโ€ฆ

I've owned a 2004 TT600R for the last year. I use it for commuting approx. 20miles 3 or 4 times a week. It always sounds laboured when starting although once started it runs fine. I've just had a full service but this has done nothing to make it a more confident starter. It's worse in winter and if left for more than a week it's touch and go whether it'll start at all. It's only got 6k on the clock. I'm aware that previous/original models were fitted with a kick start. Is anyone aware whether or not it's possible to fit an e start 2004 model with an aftermarket kickstart? I'm not too mechanically minded being limited basics servicing etc. Any ideas would be appreciatedโ€ฆ

Need some advice please.... I bought this bike from a friend of mine...He barely rode it and for the past year and a half he hasn't started it. I went to go work on it yesterday and the engine will not kick over. i sprayed Starting Fluid in the Air Filter and she turned over for about 5 Seconds before shutting off. I feel like its a fuel issue. vaccum seemed good going from the engine to the fuel pump...however the flow from the fuel pump to the carbs seems week. it did not change when i tried to start the engine...the flow stayed constant, there was no "squirt" of the gas. before i go ripping off the fuel pump or the carbs, i want to know if anyone has hโ€ฆ

Hi all, anyone know if a YZ 400/426/450 can be fitted with a lighting kit to make it road legal? i was thinking that the set up as fitted to the WRs may fit as the bikes are similar,i wonder if theres a basic wiring loom fitted with plugs to take lights front and rear and the lights are just not fitted on the YZs?

I am based in Zambia and have recently purchased a YZ450F second hand. I am interested in identifying the year of manufacture. I have the VIN and engine number. Can anyone suggest a site that will give me my year of manufacture and exploded parts diagrams for the bike if I input my VIN/engine number. cheers

I just picked up a 1980's Yamaha, possibly a 90 or 50 - cylinder head says 87 cc. I need to remove the engine. The main pivot bolt behind the motor will turn with a rachet, but no matter how hard I hit the end the bolt will not come out. Is there a special trick, or do I just hit harder?
