    Your thoughts

Had a evo softail for 7or8 years, can't say it wasn't reliable cos it was but when it did need parts I got stiffed! iron head sportsters are a no go unless your prepared to spend every weekend spannering on it,evo sportsters may be a better bet but then your back to considering cost again.like the man said you pays yer money you makes yer choice.
  12. read a couple of articals on this stuff sounds o.k. but costs about £16 for 5ltrs.i just drain the tank and carbs then use the drained fuel in our Gertys car.
  13. I was ten years old and living in Bristol, myuncle took me across cliffton suspention bridge on his motorcycle,i have no idea what make it was but it was big black and shiny ,made a beautifull noise and I wanted one!passed the test in1968 andhave been lucky enough to have ridden everything from brits, japs,Harleys, and back again.i'll be 69 on the16th of oct,and have no intentions of quitting any time soon.

  17. back in the day when we had 2* and 4* fuel I had jap engine bikes that woud'nt start on 'posh' fuel 'cos the combustion chamber was designed to run on low octane petrol.dunno if that's still the case but I just put unleaded in both the bikes and the 20yr old jag I run, all seem to like it fine.
  18. Moto gussie 750 Nevada, looked beautifull but was gutless for a750cc bike.agree with earlier posting re,honda 400 superdog, most uncomfortable thing i'v ever slung my leg over and when you get to my age you've slung yer leg over some dogs !
  19. hi foamy, get hold of a copy of classic motorcycle mechanics, APRIL 2013.there's a great writeup by phil hacker who runs the fj club.he says ,camchains good for 100,000 miles, camshafts never wear out, piston rings good for 180,000 miles.alternaters and starters never a problem.biggest problem will be the carbs if the bikes been stood to long.he also says the earlier models were built to a higher standard up to 1990 is best.check out www.fjclub.co.uk.i recon £,1000 for the fj1100 if it's in reasonable nic is a deal.
