Hello trying to find out were the front brake switch is located or how it work on a R1. The reason behind this is i have modified the calliper to fit my 1996 xj 600 and there is no place for a switch on the master cylinder it self.

Bought a 91J Yamaha XJ600 pre-diversion a few months ago. Sorted carbs brakes, coils replaced cables and so on and on and on..... bloody hell! Can't believe how much time I've put into it (and dosh). Anyway, running like a dream with new oil and plugs and air filter... ACE!! THen the shit hits again....... new battery is FLAT. AA man came and said he thinks it's the rectifier. £65 from local Yamaha dealer / £45 from Wemoto. First though. Are there any ways of testing the integrity of the current rectifier on the bike at the moment? as it would be a shame to buy a new part and find the same problem. ANY advice welcome and very gratefully recieved... Cheers. Justin

I got my SR last October and it seemed to be running fine. After the first few weeks I noticed some problems with it. Firstly I needed to push the clutch lever back out for it to engage the clutch again. I didn't mind this too much at first until it wasn't engaging properly at all. I was thinking I would have to replace the whole clutch. Fortunately when I changed the cable that sorted that problem. Then I noticed that every time my handle bars were turned left the engine would start revving up so on closer inspection I found a tear in the tubing for the throttle cable. I eventually changed the cable last weekend. The main problem I'm having though is the bike started…

First let me say hello. I am a new Yamaha owner (previously had an older 75 Kawaskai. Now running a new to me 2005 Vstar 1100. I have probably a novice question. One of the chrome cover guards on the top exhaust has come lose (1 of 2 screws). The screw threads through another chrome guard. I figured I could just remove the two screws that seemed to be holding the chrome to the exhaust with little effect. While did loosen it a little, I can't get it off to secure the screw through to the smaller chrome plate. Additional informaiton - This is the top chrome plate located approximatly 10 inches from the exchaust / motor connection. Any help would be benefitial…

Hi All. It's been a while since I've been on here. I have a DT 50 1984 model. The plugs keep choking I have checked the air fuel mixture and even changed the carb. It started just after I changed the points. I took it for a spin got 50 out of it . The next day it would not start. I checked the spark and it was intermittent. I changed the plug got a great spark, took it for a spin it ran ok the next day would not start. The same thing happened again. I changed the coil and still the same thing.. Hope someone can help i'm stuck Dave.

Hi everyone, Just bought a 1977 Yamaha dt 125E (I think...2A6 123cc) as a project bike. The previous owner replaced the wires from the stator but they used solid red color wires and i don't know which is which , it only had a simple kick start wiring, stator - kill switch - coil. I've searched the web for clear pics with no luck. any help or pics would be greatly appreciated.

My '76 DT125 turn signals stop working at high RPMs. They come back on as the RPMs come down. It also stops running after a few minutes at high RPMs. It acts as if the key was turned off. It will start right back up. Any suggestions?

I make a range of electrical items for Yamaha twins and single from the 1970's and 80s. I've just finished developing an electronic ignition conversion for the XT500, it fits the TT 500 as well. Its is self generating so runs with no battery, but you can fit the bike's lighting coil and use it to charge the battery and run lights.

i know it would be easier to ask an MOT tester but just thought id ask here since nowhere is open at the moment, one of the only things stopping me getting my bike on the road is not having a brake light sensor on my front brake lever but ive got one for the rear brake, im just wondering if anybody knows if this would pass the MOT or not?

As title suggest, from cold, it starts on the button, runs with choke on for a couple of minutes, turn choke off, runs smooth for the best part of 5-10 mins, then without warning, no splutter or cough, it stops, then refuses to start- no spark. Wait until it gets cold, then, it starts on the the button, runs with choke for a couple of minutes, turn choke off, runs smooth for the best part of 5-10 mins, then without warning..... Repeat until you get the idea, immerse yourself in gloom. I've checked the connections, cleaned etc, checked me voltages, all gravy, and with the coils in a warm state, checked for continuity, again all good, my finger is pointing toward the cdi…

Hello I have a yamaha ybr 55 plate and the high beam warning light is on. But I have no main dipped/beam lights working. Played around with the switches and no joy. It's on its third bulb since I bought it back in October. Is there an electrical fault here? Will be going down to Halford tomorow to try a new bulb.

Hi, I recently purchased a seized MK3 DT125 engine that required me to drill holes in the piston to extract it so it's no longer useable. I measured it and got 55.84mm but from what I've read this is actually 56mm (standard size). Are there any differences between mk3 models and the later model pistons? Thanks, Ollie.

So I was driving along like an idiot had a lil off the line race with another dtr, I got too near my house when the exhaust made a deep grunt , next thing I look and there is a hole in the exhaust next to the manifold ( I think that's what its called ) ( the bit near to the piston ) so my dad took the thing to work , welded it back as a temporary fix until I get a new expansion chamber , now before the bike was quiet and had more power , now its loud , the power valve is defonetely functional , I know they're generally louder when pinned open , the valve still works its just lost overall grunt and isn't as quiet ? Any ideas ? Has my dad restricted it somehow , or is it j…
