Hi Everyone, I am looking for a speed sensor replacement for my XT. The old one was damaged when I was removing it from the mount on the fork. The blue wire was ripped from the terminal. As it is a sealed unit I don't think I can service it. Can anyone suggest a way to replace/fix it? Is there another make or model of bike with a sensor that will fit? I can cut the wires and solider another in its place. Can anyone suggest a bike breakers? (£61 new)... Any suggestions will be helpful. Warm Regards

Hi Everyone, I have had this bike since i was a kid. It has been sitting in my dad's shed for about 10 years now. I got my licence last week and want to fix it up so that I can use it to get to work. I got it started the other day and it blew a lot of smoke for about 5min (hardly any smoke after that). It then cut out and would not idle or start without the choke outt. I flushed out the tank, pulled apart and cleaned the carby (it does not have any major marks on the internals (the "O" ring on the air mixer has a small chunk out of it). I was getting alot of fuel leaking out of the overflow pipe, but readjusted the float and it is not doing it as much now. Als…

Hi, I have a Yamaha XJ 900 Diversion S (1996) and the guy who I purchased it from had put on a lowering kit which are the shorter suspension link arms. I wish to put it back to the bike back to its original spec but I need the size of the original link arms. Does anyone know the dimensions of the original link arm, All I need is the distance between the link arm holes. I can work out the remaining sizes. Thanks Derek

Hiya I am having problems when going around tight corners where a small trickle throttle opening is needed, it does not work unless I open it a bit more but this then causes the bike to jerk forward at too high a speed, I have also had the engine stop when slowing to a T junction and pulling the clutch in with the throttle closed but still in gear, the bike restarts ok but I have no idea why it should stop. I did wonder if the spark was weak at slow engine speeds but wanted some feedback before taking things apart. The bike is a TDM 900. Cheers Ray.

First Post! Context: I crashed my 82' xj550 a couple of months ago. I hired a mechanic to fix it up. He did. I moved from Denver to SF, and was unable to get the bike started. I took it to a shop here. They said there are two big problems: 1) the mid-exhaust is leaking and needs to be replaced 2) the jetting needs to be adjusted. Questions: How do i tell where the mid-exhaust is leaking (diagnostically) and what replacement piece should i get? Where should i look for it? How do i adjust the jetting? Any comments are appreciated!! OrganicMuscle

Hi guys. I'm new to bikes and I picked up a 1991 SR 125 in a sorry state. I'm in the process of getting her cleaned up for the MOT and such. I've come across a couple of issues so far, with bolts and the indicators. Please bear with me as I'm still getting the hang of the component names and such. First, the screws on the oil filter cover - one of them is chewed to heck and needs replacing due to the head basically being a nice neat hole rather than a philips head. What size is needed to replace this? Secondly, the indicators don't flash when turned on, they just stay solid. I read it might be down to connections so I cleaned up all the connections and it didn…

When in neutral or holding the clutch in the revs are high, any ideas as to what might be causing this? Also there is smoke coming out of the join between the exhaust and engine, the smoke doesn't smell like it is burning, is it just burning crap off the exhaust or is it something else? Cheers James

Hello I'm in the process of replacing my fork tubes and I've opted for pattern parts due to the cost of the OEM ones. Bought the pattern set of fork tubes as a pair from what I believe to be a reputable supplier (not sure of the rules about mentioning who on here, so I'll wait to be asked) and they're about an inch longer than the ones I've taken off my bike. Also, they're not perfectly identical - though the length and outer diameter are the same and I believe the inner diameter to be the same, one has "YAMAHA" engraved on it in mirror image and the hole at the bottom is a slightly different size. My question is: are either of these things a problem - I bought …

My tw125 has done 23,000 miles and is used during May to October on a daily round trip of 16 miles with some rest days. Occasionally, when I park it on the stand before trying to start it and open the fuel tap, there is a discharge of liquid from a drain tube behind the engine and in front of the rear forks. The liquid seems to be oily water. When this happens, the bike is impossible to start with the self-starter but can be bump started often with some reluctance. I am guessing that the liquid comes from the emission separation box which receives crankcase vapours. Perhaps this liquid syphons off when the separation box is full. Perhaps also some liquid finds its way i…
