I haven't changed my oil in my SR yet and have covered about 2.5k miles. I was thinking about 3k would be the time, but I recently saw one for sale stating the oil change every 300 miles? It's a 94 model and covered just over 42k miles. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi guys! I'm quite new too screwing and fixing anything in the engine of my bike (this is my first time,so please forgive my stupidity), and I have not yet gotten a complete understanding of how exactly anything works inside of it. Recently I was out driving in Oslo and my engine died, the bike is a Yamaha YBR 125 '05. I had almost ran out of oul (about 1/4 left) and it may have been a bit warmer then usual. (check out the link for more details) - (thanks to those who helped me out here) I got an idea of what might have gone wrong in this thread, but I think I need a bit more help. I have taken the whole engine and gear unit out of the frame of the bike, …

Morning folks, Well Betty is truly not very well, the big ends on her front cylinder are fooked and was the cause of the tapping sound i had. and yes i know it was all due to me being a cock and not changing the oil and now im left with the bill for sorting it out. But still its a good excuse to get my hands full of dirt and grease! So with the Con rod bouncing about every where like it shouldn't i can only asume at this point that its done some damage to the cam shaft, ive not got as far as splitting the box yet as there is the small task of taking out the clutch / gear box etc to get the motor in two, once ive done this i can see what damage has gone on with the…

Hiya peeps, I own a 1991 pre-divi XJ 600 and I need to fit new fork seals. The questions are, what grade fork oil and how much fork oil would I need in each fork leg? Do I need any special tools to replace the fork seals? I usualy just remove the brake calipers/ front wheel, undo the fork sliders and remove them. I then pop out the old seals, slap in the new ones and bung it all back together . Oh and I put some oil in the forks too . Do I need special tools? Is it a straight forward jobby? Thanking you in advance, Ian .

Half way up a massive mountain in the French Alps last week, my engine temperature reached 117 deg and climbing. I noticed the fan wasn't kicking in and hasn't worked since. Spent the next 4 days watching the temperature reading constantly! Just wondering if anyone knows of any common faults/problems that are known to this model before I start getting into all sorts to fix it? is it likely to be the sensor? Or fan motor? Or would it simply be a fuse? if so, where is the fuse located to check and where will i find the fan sensor? Sorry for the dumb questions, but need to get it sorted asap and could do with any advice that will help save time faffing about. …

Strange thing was happening today, when I came to a stop I would put the clutch on and change down to 1st, but the bike kept trying to move forward even though I had the clutch pressed down? Also as I changed down gears it would rev really high even though I was not applying the throttle? And finally the gear change is becoming increasingly difficult, especially around first and neutral. So much so that when parking up I have to get off the bike and use my hand to put it into neutral. Could these problems be linked at all? Thanks for any ideas

Ive took the cap off an warmed it up to see if any bubbles come out with it not being pressurized, this work on an old mx bike we used too have. But is there a bleed screw on the head or anything? Sorry for the lack of knowlage and if i dont make sense just tell me! Hahaha Any help will be apreciated! thanks

Hey All Am hoping someone could help me here!, I seem to be flying through head light bulbs at a rate of knots, the full beam works but the main headlight keeps blowing. I have been through about 3 bulbs in as many months and dont really notice it during the day with it being so light, it only becomes apparent when riding in the evening. I was hoping someone out there may be able to shed some light (excuse the pun!) on this as to why this keeps happening and what i could check or change to rectify this. Thanks very much in advance for your input :-)

Hi every body, I have a dragstar 125, I recently had the spark plug re threaded on the rear cylinder so I had to take the head off, I have now put it all back together and it seems to struggle starting, but when I eventually get it going after about a minute and a half it fires up and now ticks over after I messed with the idle screw, but if I turn it off and try and start it again I get the same problem, sometimes takes a little longer to fire. It seems to only want to start if I have the throttle wide open, but even then it struggles and if I close the throttle it just spins the starter with not a great deal else. Iv cleaned the plugs, carbs, air filter and petrol pumps…

Hello all quick question need some suggestions. On my xj bike of course there are four carbs, well, the previous owner before me decided to jb weld the bowl onto the carb bottom rather then replace the screws for whatever reason and the carb being aluminum i was dodgy about grinding it off, so my question is how could I possibly remove the carb bowl to clean the float bowl and jets with cleaner without purchasing a new carb? I was thinking maybe just take carbs off, disassemble rest, and on the one with jb weld on it just take the piston valve, spring, and needle out and just spray carb cleaner into bowl from top of carb, let that sit for a couple hours, then open float b…

Hi guys, I'm new here and can't find answers to my question on any of the other forums so please forgive me if I have overlooked it. I've got a 1998 Yamaha XVS650 Custom and I've been having lots of problems with the drive shaft. The part I need replaced cannot be ordered seperately as it comes as an assembly and is hellishly expensive when ordered new. I found a good looking drive shaft assembly on ebay but it's for the Yamaha XVS1100. Does anybody know if the 1100 Drive Shaft assembly will fit on the 650? Any input will be appreciated.

Hey ya My SR 125 has developed a Top end rattle so i striped it down to check the clearance and found this to be out of tolerance by about 2.5 / 3 mm with the amount of play there was at TDC any way i loosened off the lock nut and took out the adjuster to find on closer inspection there appeared to be chips missing out of it and it been hammered out of shape no biggie Ive ordered some new ones any way for the time been i adjusted the clearance back to with in spec put the bike back together and it was running sweet as a nut so i know ive solved the problem but possibly not found the root cause of it at the moment i am assuming that over time they have just w…
