Hello all! I'm looking at buying an xj900, but I have a question that's been stumping me. Mechanically the bike seems sound, (some astetic issues and wear and tear, carbs need cleaned, but nothing major apparent), but for whatever reason, one of the cylinder head bolts are off, and it's scaring me off of buying it. A bolt and it's nut is off of the engine, and it seems to have been drained of oil, which makes me think that there was some untold problem that required it take all apart. Any thoughts? Other than that missing, the bike only has 20,000 miles on it and seems to be fine. Is it worth a $650 gamble?

G'day everyone. I had an oil leak from behind my gearbox sproket because I had not done the nut up enough (didnt realise untill the oil light came on yesterday). After tightening up the nut I put some more oil in it and took it for a ride. Was good for a while but then the oil light came on again . I checked the level when I got home and it was good. Can anyone think of why the oil light may still be coming on?

Hi All Have just got my YZF back on the road (three/four weeks ago) but now have a prob that just cannot be found or pin pointed to one spot. I have been told by the guy that did the MOT that it could be a number of things that add up to one, both electrical, but would take him a while to find the right fault. This is what happens when riding the bike. Around Town - When in this situation all can be ok but then all of a sudden the engine would just die at a junction and be a bitch to start or I can be just going along at a steady 30mph and then have no power but would pick up again like it had kangeroo juice in the tank, more noticed in higher gears as i would have …

I found a set of front and rear crash bars cheap on eBay, The front bar is a doddle to fit but I can't figure out the rear. It seems the 2 fitting points are the foot peg bolt and the top shock absorber bolt. I just cannot figure out exactly how to fit them. I.e. does the bottom of the bar go to the front of the footpeg or the rear? Also, does the crash bar bracket go between the footpeg and the frame or does it go over the top? Has anyone done this before or does anyone happen to have a photo of an SR 125 with rear crash bars fitted? Any suggestions appreciated. Stu

I have to put my YBR into storage (container in a warehouse) for a month and a half and with good reason the company asked me to make sure I disconnect the battery when I leave it. I do NOT know how to do this and scoured google with no result. Can someone please give me a simple breakdown of how this is done? I'm not too DIY-savvy in the motor department! Thanking you!

  10. Hello everyone, I'm new to this form today, It looks like a terrific resource and many of the experienced and knowledgeable bikers that frequent this forum seem to be incredibly friendly, tolerant and willing to help everyone who comes by into their forums. It would be my ambition to contribute to this site actively myself in the future as it seems like a great community. In this sense I feel bad that my first contribution is actually a request for help, but I could sure use some right now. So I hope a few of you will be kind enough to read on and share some of your wisdom with me. The bike in questions is my Dragstar XVS (2000 model.) I will try to be concise wit…

Hi everyone! I've been pretty much entirely absent recently as I signed up, done the compulsery "Ello everyone" intro then got injured on a fence! (Cracked ribs) Great story that I may go into another day, but I've managed a bit of riding and I've noticed that my XVS hits 60mph then sits there no matter if I'm in 4th or 5th gear. Now this has probably been an often asked question but I was wondering... The XV125 Virago had a TDI unit that dependant on which model you had would restrict the bike somewhat. The TDI TNDF44 would restrict you to 96kph (60mph) The TDI TNDF45 was unrestricted in revs and could (apparently) get a bit more out of her. My XVS125 …

  13. I'm struggling on this one! Only had the bike since March and already I've put 2 new bulbs in (I always run with dipped even in daytime). I've checked earth points I can find - removed and wire brushed etc. battery level is fine. I have noticed that when riding, the brightness does alter slightly. I can't find a logical reason why it keeps blowing. Could it be a less than perfectly flat road? I avoid pot holes but some roads are less than smooth! I'm not sure exactly when it blows as it has happened when in daylight, and I only notice it when I stop behind a car. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The dash does have a small crack in it, but I did seal this an…

HI Peeps, I have just bought a Yamaha Fazer 600 52 plate last week and all was fine but my rear left indicator went last night. Now I have changed the bulbs and tested it again but still not luck. Does anyone have a rough idea what maybe wrong? I guess it is wiring somewhere but don't have a clue where to start. Every other indicator works fine bar the left rear. ALSO - does anyone have the Haynes Fazer manual on PDF? as I need to service the biek anyway. Regards, G

Hi Ladies and Gents. For some reason when I change my bike into gear and the neutral light goes off, so does the speedo backlight. Have done a bit of head scratching but not sure why it is doing this. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

The original tzr 50 carburator is 16mm and i must have 120 jet for not get it overheated or damaged only With a leovince v6 exhaust. How big jet do i need With a 21 dellorto carburator? it came With 92 main jet as standard. Hi, I've just introduced myself in the new member's section and I hope I don't offend anyone by asking for advice so soon after joining. Apologies in advance if I do. I've just bought a 1998 SR 125 for my son. Its in really great condition, 8,300 miles, no smoke, no leaks and rides really well. I have 2 requests for advice: The first is on the choke (or "starter set" as Yamaha seems to call it). Simply put, the choke won't stay out. You pull it out and it just pops back in again. Now, there's an old post on here going back to 2008 that suggests a new "starter set" would cure the problem. I'm just wondering if anyone on here has had the same problem since 2008 …

got new AM26 tyres for the FZ and am going to eventually get the bike all done in Gulf colours. not sure whether to paint or powder-coat the wheels Pros - powder coat = £90 and its all done for me paint cheaper, but I'll have to do do it Cons - heat may affect the alloy wheel paint chips easily but with powder, corrosion underneath may go undetected. what do you guys think?
