Coming off trhe highway stopped at the lhe light and so did my bike. Started ok but rought. Got home and let rev a a highr rpm ang had black smoke come out. It seems to run better now any ideas. ALSO I am in 4th hight rev close to 95km/h when I go into 5 it does not keep its speed it droppes to 90. Ideas Thanks guys... BTW 35000km

I have a xvs 125 and i would like to change the pistons and barrells for the 250 ones. the bikes are nearly identical, but can it be done. Can anyone tell me if this can be done or if anyone has heard it been done before. thanx

Hi, This is my first post. I have an old 50cc yamaha and i don't know what model the bike is. My aim is to restore it, but first of all i'm trying to get a decent spark - so far i've only managed to get a weak spark! The bike's side cover has "yamaha mini" on it, the tank has "yamaha 50" on it, the muffler has "50" on it too. The frame and engine number is FT1-450150. Anyway, i was hoping that someone out there would be able to recognise the model if i posted some images on my web site. Hello, I could use a little help please. My bike seems to "miss" at high rpm and has done so since the day I boght it brand new. It is an '04 TTR 225. At first, I thought that it had something to do with the break in but it is long past that and has been tuned up but is still having the problem. A friend of a friend had the same bike with the same problem (since day one) and he solved it by clipping the wire for the rev limiter. Does anyone know anything about this and if so what color is the wire for the rev limiter??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings from a newbie. I'm about to get a Thundercat and I would like to ask you guys if they know the colour code for it. It is a 1987 model which is burgundy in colour, this looks to be original rather than a re-spray and I havn't seen another cat this colour. the reason I'm asking is because it doesn't have a hugger and when I get one I want it to match. I would also like to ask if it is possible to get a stronger spring for the rear shock, the shock is in good condition but being a fat b*$"ard no amount of preload is going to get the sag right from what I've read in other threads. hi, does anyone have a copy of the stock suspension settings for a 1999 r6 i have had a go at mine and not knowing what i was doing, totally cocked them up!! i would like to put it back to how it was originally!! any help would be brilliant

Does anyone know what the points gap setting is on a gt80? The bike runs good except at high RPM. Anything else I should look for? Thanks in advance.

The specs for my SRX400 suggest that I use "Yamaha 4stroke engine oil types G, Z, X" does anybody have an idea what the ratings of these oil-types are? Are they 10W30? With the current oil I'm using the gears-changes do seem a little chunky. I've googled the phrase but can't get any decent sites. Please help

Hi Can anyone tell me if the xz clutch is the same as the fz 600 are the same I have seen picks of the 550 clutch and they look the same but conformation would be good? I still have the clutch slip prob with the fz and new parts are so expensive I tend to look for a good alternative first Thanks Trev

My SRX400 fires up perfectly now and idles happily until I actually ride it(maybe 1 minute)....then if I stop and let it idle it slowly decreases revs and cuts-out. If I fire it up again I have to give it a little throttle to keep it going. If I ride it a bit more (say 5mins) and stop the bike and let it idle it just cuts-out and and then it does'nt want to start. If I leave the bike for a while (10-20mins) then it fires up easily again, but if I ride it, it repeats the cycle..... Any ideas? I have a feeling it's the carb but I'm not sure? Seeing as I had a problem with my battery recently, could it be that insufficient charge is coming from the battery??? Som…

My question is about manifold vacuum on my triple 750. What is the factory vacuum settings when the bike was new. I only have 8200 miles on the bike but the carbs are from another 750.When I bought the bike I found that the needles had been screwed in so deep that the tips were broke off in the bottom of carbs.So I bought a parts bike with good carbs, and they have been reset to balance the vacuum. They are way off in balance,so I set the vacuum balance to 8inches of vacuum with a sync.tool. I'm thinking that it is to lean at this setting. It's a little slugish right at take off,but gets after it with a little more throttle. I don't know whether to go up or down with the …

Hi Purchased a 1978 yamaha xs250 last week. It has no electrical life at all! I changed the fuses, battery, cleaned the ignition switch, checked two earth connections that I could find, blown bulbs and general wear and corrosion however this has not rectified the problem. I'm not hot on electrics but i'm thinking that perhaps some wiring could be disconnected. Can anybody offer any suggestions or help! Jason

i have a rgv 125 f.u.n. with nackered powervalves and i have been offered a set of 250 powevalves. can anyone out there tell me if they are the same size and are they interchangeable? thanks all Trev
