Hi guys back again , I dont know about you guys but everywhere i go at the minute when its wet my rear end feels as though it is on the move ,i go round a corner and i can feel the rear end sliding out and its scary.I first noticed it one morning on the way to work picture it 0530 knocking down the local dual carriageway hit the brakes and turn as per usual but just as i get into the bend the arse starts twitching. i thought nothing of it and put it down to me going in to fast but then it happened on every corner now i think about it, and now every bend it feels like its going. At the moment I'm considering fixing the slightly corroded forks on my '96 XJ600N and the slightly feeble single disc braking. The idea is to replace the forks and yokes with those from a later twin disc model. Then a new wheel and calipers. I believe that fazer or R1 calipers fit the same mounting holes with no alterations but require floating discs which the divvy doesnt have. The problem is, and this is where I'm a bit stuck, what wheels will fit the forks and have floating discs? So far I believe that the TDM850 and thunderace are potential candidates but what others and can anyone confirm that these should work. Cheers

Is there anybody out there who can help me i've tryed everything on the bike, here's the list. There's a good spark on all plugs, The ohms are correct at the coil pick up, The exup is correctly adjusted, The carb sensor is correctly adjusted, The fuel pump and vac tap are working ok, The carbs are clean and there is fuel getting to the float bowls, I've fitted new ht leads. I've also tried to check the cdi,i have 12 volts at the red/black wire going into the coils and when i turn the bike over it drops to 10 volts. Is this correct or should it drop to 6 as a friend has said it should go from 6 to 12 volts when the bike is turned over. But the thin…

I got a thunderace and just changed the clutch plates and fitted new friction plates and stronger springs, i still have a problem with the clutch slipping, unless i am mistaken and its a power band kicking in. I have changed all the clutch lines to braided, changed the master cylinder and flushed the system and replaced with new fluid and bleed the system I also have a problem but its not there all the time it takes approx 3 months to develop, the clutch hydraulic piston on the left hand side pushes to far out and eventually it pushes the clutch plates completly out. You end up with no clutch, until you take the left hand housing off, undue the bleed nipple and push t…

I have the DATATOOL rev lights off my 1200 Bandit. I know that these are meant to be fitted to electronic tachos but DATATOOL say it might be possible on the thunderace to connect to the crank sensor:-below I want to fit a Revlight to my machine but it is not equipped with a tacho? » In certain cases this can still be done but you will need to pick up an engine rev pulse from another source (e.g. crank sensor). Don’t use the coil the signal will be corrupted by the collapsing field within the coil as it fires the spark plug. You will also have to accurately set 4000rpm. Good quality dwell meters and ignition timing strobes sometimes have a revs indicator. Be aware m…

Hi, I acquired a TMAX 6 months ago, and have noticed and experienced a couple of odd things now I'm riding with the lights on. Any help would be appreciated. Power surge: Every now and then the panel lights, and presumably other lights, get very bright. I first noticed this waiting at a set of lights. After a bit they settle back to normal brightness, but will then get bright again. Headlights: After blowing the dipped beam, possibly as a result of one of the surges, above, when I replaced the bulb I noticed something very odd. The configuration of the headlights is, from the saddle, left hand headlight bulb type H7, single filament; right hand buld type H4, dua…

I have a 1982 Yamaha XJ 750 Maxim. I am preparing the gas tank to be painted. I would like to remove the Yamaha logos from that tank, and then smooth out whatever I find under them. How do I do this? Can I just chisel off the logos? what will I find under them? will it be easy to sand, bondo, and smooth it out? AtDhVaAnNkCsE George Clay

Hi guys buggered up another part of the bike now. When I try to start the bike the Relay assembly makes a nasty electrical crackling sound (for want of better words) and there is no compression to be had from the engine. Could anyone tell me what is likely to be the problem and how much it will be to rectify the problem. Cheers Robbie

Hi, has anyone had experience of racing tyres on their road bike, I have just fitted a pair of Metzeler Racetec's to my YZF1000, it appears that the rear profile is more convex than standard as it almost contacts the front of the swingarm, I had to pack the hugger I fitted too as that was rubbing on the centre of the tyre. As the weather is icy at present I have not been able to get a proper feel for the tyres or compare the grip, I do know that the rear will spin out over large metal drain covers though!! Anyones experiences please?

Hi All, Was riding along the motorway the other night in heavy traffic. As I was in a rush I was constantly in the outside lane doing an average speed of 85mph, I found this quite difficult as I feel that my headlights aren't as bright as I would like them. SO Can you fit xenon headlight bulbs to a 2000 YZF-R6, and if so will I need to modify the electrics to cope with any changes in current (if there are any). Cheers Robbie
