E-Bay Link Is this for real? 170BHP from this engine? If so, what kind of maintenance would be involved? Rebuild every 3000?!!? LOL, what about mpg? --------------------- Here's an update, of sorts, for 31.3. 2013 I was chatting with a friend last night about our all time favourite bikes, and mine is my '93 YZF750. It threw a con-rod chasing a BMW M5 one day and that was that. We were looking at pictures of my old bike on BikePicks.com and also found this thread from 2005. The eBay link obviously doesn't work anymore, but I saved the listing details at the time, including pictures. So for the sake of anyone who might come across this thread, or for some of …

My bike started to leak petrol when it had been running for a bit. The petrol came out of a hole just in front of the carb and behind the air filter. Any ideas what it could be? Another issue is that when I was pushing the bike onto the trailer to go get the petrol leak sorted it was leaking only oil out the same overflow hole!!!! It seems what looked like a petrol leak when the engine was warm was actually a mixture of oil and petrol?!? I'm a bit confused as to how the two could get mixed up and come out the same overflow? I'm new to bikes and would appreciate any help.

oops...Topic should be leaded or unleaded I live in South Africa and we are facing new laws which prohibit the sale of leaded petrol. I'm wondering what effect this will have on my bike. I'm recently purchased a SRX400, and can't seem to find out if it uses leaded or unleaded petrol..... What would happen if I used unleaded petrol in a bike that used leaded petrol and vice versa? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Does anyone know whether Yamaha ever published a manual for rebuilding crankshafts(2-stroke twins in particular)? I know Kawasaki did. The one from Kaw has PN #'s for the various special tools and jigs. any reference on crank rebuilding from any source would be helpful. Thanks

Finally my bike is nearly ready for its first MOT in 15years! I've brought it back from the dead with help from many in this forum...... ...however as always things are never simple! I'm missing 2 spokes from the rear wheel! 2 SPOKES!!! which is an MOT failure i believe. Spoke to Yamaha, and they dont sell individual spokes, only packs, which means spending £25 on a load of spokes i dont need! Does anybody have any spare knocking about?? I've never been so desparate from some thing so minor! (DT125LC Mk3 18inch Rear Wheel Spokes)

Cracked off exhaust studs? Here's my opinion on the best way to get them out. What you need. 1. A nice sunny day with no hangover and lots of patients . (Do not attemt under any circumstances after arguments with wife or in bad mood!!) 2. Can of WD40 3. Hammer. 4. A drill chuck / MoleGrips. ( take apart an old drill or buy a new chuck from a electric drill spares shop. I think the drill chuck is better as it grips from 3 sides. 5. Bastard file (flat). 6. Pencil Torch. ( If you know somebody who is a plumber then get them to lend you one. It's like a small gas flame on the end of a pencil with a lead that runs back to the can. ) Method 1…

Hi All Just a quick query. I have a Thundercat that has had a exhaust problem recently. One of the flanges came away from the rest of the downpipes causing much noise and hassle. I now have another set of downpipes to go on. Can anybody tell me the torque wrench settings for the M8 studs that hold the downpipes to the engine. I don't want to over do it!!!! TA

Hi, bit of an odd one this, as I think that the TRX has started to make a weird ticking noise at tick-over, hard to say with the load-ish pipes. Has anyone else had a similar problem, I think it could be the cam-chain rattling, it's unlikely to be top end (valves) as these were sorted (at great expense) less than 10,000 miles ago. Any advice, info would be great. Thanks Chris

The seat of my XT500 is well worn but in good shape. The problem is that as it has worn smooth, it has become more and more slippery. If I apply the brakes firmly, I have to brace my arms or my b*ll*cks would collide with the tank, and it would be a shame to have a dent in that lovely alloy tank! Is there any way of "de-slipperifying" vinyl, or do I have to shell out for a new cover?

Recently when the weather got cold my mate's '99 Fazer 600 started to have problems starting. He's added a new battery but the same thing happens. Symptoms: Press the starter switch, get a click but starter motor does not spin - he should have noticed this before buying a battery!!!. Keep your finger on the switch and twist the throttle and the starter motor spins over and the engine fires up. Any ideas as to how to isolate the problem further? Cheers
