hi there guys, im new to the website and motorbikes in general, i recently bought a ybr 125 2010 that was damaged, but unfortunately one of the forks was bent. Me and a friend have checked them both and it was only the left leg (as your sitting on it). The problem i have is that it would probably be quite expensive to buy off of yamaha direct, but i can get a good deal for the one i need from a 2009 ybr 125. So my question is, are the 2009 and 2010 forks the same/compatible? thanks Dante

Recently purchased a set of wheels that came off a 1992 TDR125R Italia, so that I can SuperMoto my DTR, the Brembo caliper that came with the wheels also off the TDR Italia, needs a rubber boot, the larger of the two boots on the slider tube, been told I cant just buy a replacement rubber boot, and that I have to buy the whole caliper, which ain't going to happen!! So I was wondering if anybody with knowledge of these type of TDR's or any TDRcome to that, could put me on to a parts list from somewhere, as I can't find one for love nor money, or whether they have the knowledge of compatible boots from other TDR Brembo calipers, or even possibly have a boot knocking about …

Hi, Ive found myself in the situation where I need to replace the rear exhaust manifold (the part between the engine and exhaust pipe), but cannot for love nor money find anywhere online that sells them (so I can get an idea of how much they are). Does anyone on these forums know what sort of price I'll be looking at for the rear manifold? The bike is a Yamaha Dragstar 650 Classic 2001. PS The reason I need a new on is that I was replacing the pipes on it, but the nuts holding the old one on were so corroded that we had to cut into the top of the manifold to get it out. It still holds the pipes firmly as the bottom nut came out without a fight (no movement or give …

  5. Last night when I rode home, my 03 R1 flickered its high beams on for one second and then as I continued it kept happening! At one point all my lights went off for about half a second, which worried me as I was some distance from my house. This happens while I ride and even when I wait at the lights. Any one have any suggestions? Thank you.

  7. Hey everybody. I haven't been on here since my bike broke, but I tore into it, replaced my broken rocker arm, and painted some parts of the engine, etc. Just wondering if anybody has torque values for the head? Also not sure which oil to use. I heard 20 50? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am currently a new owner of a XS 750 after trading in a XT 600 for something more comfortable for the road(4 hours trips on a thumper are terribly uncomfortable). I love this bike but I am having several issues that are concerning me. I recently started the bike and went to go for a quick ride on a nice day during the winter and the bike started popping and backfiring wildly and would smooth out with the choke being applied. I immediatly stopped attempting to ride and parked the bike. I though this could be a temperature issue and allowed the bike to warm for another 5 minutes and the problem was significantly reduced but there was still some popping from 1000-25…

Hi guys , Julien here , Things are going yamanuts at the moment ,yamahas are coming at me from all sides. Along with the 2 yamms i got recently , a friend of mine has got me tinkering with his xs250 . I'v sorted the carbs and now it runs sweet as a nut ( this bike is suprisingly good fun ) but after about ten minutes it starts to cough and splutter and has flattened the battery . It will do this even if you dont start it with the ignition left on . I know my mate has messed with the wiring as he has bobbed this bike so that could be it , and i will go over all the wiring when i get a mo' but does anybody know how to check the generator ? Probably a bit of a pain …

  16. Started by Mr OCD,

Hi All, I have just bought myself a 99 Yamaha Thundercat so thought would join the forum. I got the Thundercat for a tidy sum due to it needing a couple of small jobs... one is that the front brake calipers are binding... the other the downpipe has a tiny pin hole in it... Now tonight I stripped down the calipers and had problems shifting the pistons... I managed to clean them up and get the pistons back into the body but they are still very stiff so I am going to source some others but for now I need to put them back on the bike but I'm having MAJOR problems bleeding them... can anyone help? - not had issues bleeding bike brakes before but these arent hav…

Hi, I've just bought a 1994 XV 535 Virago. The bike has sat used for 5 years in a garage. I collected it on Sunday when the seller proudly announced that he had managed to get the bike running. He had put some fresh petrol in the tank and jump started it using the battery on his car (not sure that's good thing to do?). He said that the bike was running for over 20 minutes as he trying to get some charge back into the bike battery. When I arrived the bike battery was totally flat, so the seller connected jump leads to his car again and with full choke the bike started. I seem to remember being told it's bad to run a motor with a battery of much higher amperage connected, s…

I was browsing through my Virago XV 125 manual earlier and it said that when cleaning the air filter it should be cleaned with a solvent and then soaked in engine oil, with any excess being squeezed out. My question on this is two fold; a) What solvent are they referring to? and Why do you have to soak the filter in oil? Is it so that any debris sticks to the oil? Sorry for asking questions which seems very basic but not had to do any maintenance on my bike before and Im trying to learn as much as possible in a short period of time.

I have bought 2000 Yamaha R6. Presume that bike had OEM pads, so I was also looking the OEM replacement. But since I figured out that I was actually running Lucas (satisfied my needs) and that OEM are more than twice the price I am now looking aftermarket sintered front pads. Also Lucas pads didn't "eat" my discs (they are both well preserved) and they last for 25.000km (10 by me, 15 by owner before me). My local dealers offers as follows: OEM 55€ Nissin 54€ EBC 35€ AP 33€ Lucas/TRW 27€ Carbon Loraine 34€ Don't ask me for a pad type all I know that Lucas are labeld as:MCB611SV Be greatful for any personal or profesional experience
