I have bought 2000 Yamaha R6. Presume that bike had OEM pads, so I was also looking the OEM replacement. But since I figured out that I was actually running Lucas (satisfied my needs) and that OEM are more than twice the price I am now looking aftermarket sintered front pads. Also Lucas pads didn't "eat" my discs (they are both well preserved) and they last for 25.000km (10 by me, 15 by owner before me). My local dealers offers as follows: OEM 55€ Nissin 54€ EBC 35€ AP 33€ Lucas/TRW 27€ Carbon Loraine 34€ Don't ask me for a pad type all I know that Lucas are labeld as:MCB611SV Be greatful for any personal or profesional experience

Hi everyone I seem to be suffering what feels like clutch slip. I can drop the clutch out completely and boot it hard in 2nd, 3rd and 4th and the revs rise but the speed doesn't. Feels identical to clutch slip in a car. Can anyone tell me if: a. it's definitely the clutch as opposed to the chain? No idea how these things work on a bike, sorry! b. is a clutch expensive to replace? Having looked on ebay quickly, I can see a clutch is about £40...so how long're we talking for labour? I'm hoping it's a clutch cover off, clutch out, new clutch in, clutch cover back on jobby c. is it a dead easy job? Something worth attempting on my own? Thanks ver…

  6. I've come across a local dealer with a 1987 FZR - 750 with a 1985 750cc motor. There is 30,000km's on the bike and 15,000 on the motor. Catch is the bike is almost completely disassembled (engine stripped) I will include all the photos I have recieved, I'm wondering what is a reasonable price for this bike considering the amount of work needed to be done, he seems to have everything organized and claims it is all there. His asking price is $800CDN. I would also appreciate any issues or pros / cons if I do purchase, thanks a lot! http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/830/fairings.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/819/engineh.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-ima…

  12. Hi, A little while ago I purchased a 1985 sr250 to do up. I put a kickstarter in it which I got off an XT250 (I think). To put the idle gear for the kicker in I had to pull the clutch out and when I put it all back together with the cover and everything the clutch wouldnt disengage. I was wondering if anyone had a manual or has had this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi again :-) I've not used my bike much over winter, as we had one day of snow and i fell off at a roundabout, so i've been waiting for dry days to build confidence again. I went out on it the other day and it was revving freely for all of my 8 mile journey to the bike shop :-D weyhey! but on the way back, it didn't rev freely, and felt restricted in every gear. so i've been looking up what it could be. 1st. Carbs might need cleaning. 2nd. faulty CDi. Then i decided to take the seat off to see what CDi it was, turns out it's the 4 + 4 connectors which are harder to get hold of :-( Then i noticed a loose connector. Can anyone tell me what the circled bit is…

Hi I am still looking to cure my DT 100 fault. It wil not pull at anywhere near full revs under load on the road. It will rev up on the stand but will just not pull. I have re built the carb, cleaned the exhaust out etc etc. I have put it at the back of the garage since September (in frustration!!!!), but I really want to get it running properly if I can Could I be loosing crankcase pressure? If so is the cure an engine strip down to replace the gasket (s)? Many thanks

Hi.. When people have been looking for more power on the XVS125, has anyone ever messed with the needle, or know how to get at it? I've removed the rubber air restrictor on my airbox, and made a couple of holes in the backplates, and now I'm running lean, until it gets very hot, (a result of the lean stoich) the bike has problems accelerating, and will fart out if not feathered on the throttle. I'm all sorted with getting at the main jet, but there may be instances where I will be running for some time at low throttle and I'd rather not overheat my machine. Can anyone advise me here as how to get to the needle? Thanks.

  18. Hello All, I am new to the forum so apologies if this topic has been covered. I have a DT125x 2004 with crank issues. I have managed to pick up a 2002 dt125r engine, in perfect working order, for less than the cost of rebuilding the 2004. The problem is the the 2004 has electric start, different stator, wiring loom, cdi, regulator rectifier, to the 2002. Is is possible to put the generator assembly and starter motor from the 2004 on the 2002 engine in order to keep the existing wiring loom, cdi ect thats on the bike? Is it as straight forward as it seems?

Hi, Noticed my rear cylinder on my 125 dragstar was really hot today, more so than the front, and thats not with riding, I know the front has more cool air hit it. It was idling and the rear got real hot real quick and the front was quite cool, exhaust was hot and everything, after start up. I had a look at the sparkies, and the front was normal and the rear was wet???? Really dont get how it was hotter if there was ample fuel, is this anything to do with the pipe that attaches to the intake joint? It seems that it leads to the fuel pump via a T junction, (tank to pump - with this coming off it to the intake) I hope there is some sort of valv…
