  5. Just got a Yamaha YB 100 off of ebay, 1989 29K on the clock and has been dumped by the PO, a young lad who knows nothing about bikes or how to fix them and a Dad who wants his garage back ! So I am the proud owner of a 2 stroke which I haven't had since 1967ish ! Winter is sorted then just need to find out if it will run and ride plus what if anything needs replacing, I will be back with questions about 2 strokes soon. PS anyone got a manual?

  6. You are a lot of things, wrong is not one of them. It was, of course, the 7th. I apologise for my error from the heart of my bottom.

  8. Cleaning? I've heard of that before, is that where the free water comes out of the sky and knocks several layers of mud off the bike? Maintenance - First ride of the day - BOLT : Brakes, Overall condition, Lights & Tyres - do the brakes work? Any oil leaks or stuff missing/broken/dangling? Lights OK? Tyres round at the bottom? Good, ride on! Weekly - quick once-over making sure that everything that should move, moves (and smoothly - lube as required) and everything that shouldn't, doesn't. Also check tyre pressures and tread depth, brake pad wear, oil levels and so forth. It ain't rocket science, even Noise can make it look like he knows what he's doing. Now, about this cleaning thing, how's that work again?

  10. Nope I wasn't scraping my pegs lol, brand new bike still breaking it in so have been taking it easy...... Well sort of anyway! Yeah I thought Ohh shit here we go this is going to hurt, tensed up shut the throttle, dropped a gear and gently rode the back brake trying to scrub some speed. Yes I was looking at the hedge line... Well tree and pilon line.... Looked like a gentle sweeper.... Turned out it wasn't. In hind sight don't play whacky racers on l plates on a road you don't know, pick your lines wisely and last but not least relax and stamp on the pegs if it starts to look like you over cooked if lol. In the heat of the moment I'll admit I was fixed on the tree branch I took out.... The upside is I saved the local council a job cutting it down....

  11. Well, if you're going to be on it for hours at a time, why not go for an old Fazer? Comfy, will go all day and give you a bit of weather protection http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201408256863631/sort/recpriceascdefault/price-to/1000/cc-to/600cc/model/fz/make/yamaha/usedbikes/radius/1500/page/1/postcode/ox44fy?logcode=p

  16. Jimmy mate. Would your time not be better spent undercover at squires? Some might say they could be seen as guilty of deception for selling stuff on plates that is described as "food". The price of a cuppa there could also be seen as criminal. All allegedly of course!
