  3. Are the carbs balanced correctly? Is one exhaust pumping out more pressure than the other ( palm of your hand near the end of the exhaust). If it is chuff, chuffing all the time you could always paint it in Thomas the Tank Engine colours!

  9. Very true Tommy! We used to go to Southend (40 miles each way) in the evenings with enough money for a bag of chips. No plan B, didn't actually think we needed one. I broke down once but often used to have to share fuel between bikes when one of us ran out of petrol. All that on a 90cc single to start and then the 250 twin.

  11. What about: Lassie Oldtimer FZRal When did things change though? I cant remember riding around as a youth listening to the engine, worrying about the crank seals or debating what was the best oil/plug/timing/airfilter etc. The bikes got no maintenance until they broke.

  13. Ahh yes, thanks Andrew! I'm going to be in Switzerland with work for a few weeks, but luckily it's mid to end of September so I'm still fine for this! I'm now working on the Friday, and there's every chance it could be in London, but ideally I'll try and work from home in Glossop and duck out a little early; purely so I can delight in the full Squires camping experience you all rate so highly... Ha ha! If all else fails, I'll be there Saturday / Sunday.

  17. Trouble maker ;-) Had a look at it and it looks like a nice bike although I must say to me it just looks like a bigger XVS950 and maybe more comparable to the FBob I'm looking at. As their prices new are similar then in this situation I'm probably seduced by the brand and favour the FBob. Also while I'm prepared to take a punt on the 950 and get it without a test ride, there is no way I'm spending 13k on a bike and not riding it first. Sure a used one will be cheaper but as I said I want a few years of not getting greasy hands and no MOT worries. I used to have MG, Fiat & Alfa soft-tops when I was younger so not adverse to getting my hands dirty, so suspect the day will come when I'll start tinkering with a spanner, but at the moment I just want something I can get on and enjoy the ride and the Yam XVS950 is looking more and more like the one..... Oh and when it happens pics will be forthcoming.
