Hey guys, So as I'm turning 17 in July I have prematurely started looking for insurance quotes and the best I have so far been offered for a 17 year old with 1 years no claim bonus a bike locked in a garage is £822.27 by Swinton. I have looked on the usual comparison websites and cannot so far find anything lower than this for a fully comp. The reason I'm going fully comp is the bikes worth £2500 ish and I'm rather reluctant to tempt fate with TPFT again this year as I've done with my TZR. Anyone happen to know of any good insurance brokers for a 125? Cheers guys

Hi, i was involved in a collision last year that as resulted in a year long claim, today i recieved a letter from my lawyers saying that i would be better of proposing 50/50. Im just wondering if it goes 50/50 will i have to pay for the rental bike i had during the claim ? and will i have to pay back the without prejudice payment cheque if i accept? Thanks in advance.

As you can probably guess from the title, I'm looking for the best cover for a YBR 125. I haven't got a garage and the bike will be chained up outside my house to a lamppost. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Hi guys I'm looking to buy my first bike and I want it to be the R125. I've found one I love that costs £3600 new. However, because they ran out of UK models, the dealership got a European version in. Same price but has a different paint job that I like more than the UK ones! That's the only difference. I went home, typed in the spec for insurance and got a quote of £1700 a year! This is ridiculous! I am 33, not a 17 year old! Could some of you with experience of these things tell me which of the following facts are the most likely contributor to this high price (or is this a normal quote..?) 1. European bike not UK 2. My first bike 3. Won't be stored in …

Hi all, Got a text earlier from Swinton's. "My SV insurance is due for renewal in 30 day's". I am with Swinton for the SV and it is due to expire on 5 May. With a little time on my hands, a full hot cuppa to one side and a cold kebab left over from tea on my right, I balance the laptop to see what delights insurers can offer me for the SV. Off to Interweb land I go as I shovel a mouthful of cold onions and red cabbage into my rather expansive mouth. I log on to my regular comparison site. Well when I say "regular" it is the one I use if I am thinking about buying a bike and want to ball park the insurance liability. I rework my old quote as it has saved m…

I brought my Yamaha YZF-R125 a couple on months ago and it has had scratches and a crack on the plastic casing over the petrol tank (the bit that is a different colour). I want to take it off and repair the scratches and the crack and then give it a re-spray. My colour scheme is Midnight Black but I am unsure of what colour the silver bits are. Does anyone know what this colour is? And if so where can I buy it? Any help would be appreciated :-).

Well as some of you know i was involved in a bit of a crash back in April where i was hit from the side going through a junction by an old lady in her car. Her insurance company (which happens to be the same as mine AXA) denied she was liable and that it was my fault because i had ran a red light and hit her, which i didn't and so i stated that in my reply form etc. Since then her insurance people have sent an assessor to check the damage on my bike, that also makes it obvious she hit me with all the damage being on the right-hand side of my bike, and when he gave me a quote he asked me if i would accept a "pay in lieu" of x amount if i won the case, which i a…

Hi. I have a DT50 and im waiting on my provisional to come through. When i have got it im doing my CBT. However i cant tax or insure it until i have my CBT. (to tax i need insurance, and to insure it i need my CBT). Im just wondering that if i do my CBT, then come home and buy insurance online, along with tax, will both the tax and insurance be valid on that day to go riding as soon as ive done my CBT? Or will i have to wait for the paperwork to come through the post? Thanks Ryan

Hey everyone just an insurance question as I'm shocked at my insurance for a dt125 06. My last dt the insurance was only £350. Bike is garaged. I'm 27 bought the bike for summer fun. I've got 3 points had a Cbt and a bike for 2 years. So this will be my 2nd Cbt I have to do. But after all that my insurance quotes are £450 plus and I've only put 2000 miles a year down. I'm shocked I have a Honda s2000 which us a group 20 and it's not much more than that. Who do you guys go to. I guess if I'm only using it for the summer I can cancel the insurance for the winter etc

Hey guys. Hopefully this topic will somewhat be interesting. Usually crap at starting threads but this one might start something! HAD a yammy thundercat but sadly came off at roundabout under a week ago and wrote the bike off Stupid petrol or something!!! Anywayz... My bike has been valued at £1400 which is not as good as i hoped but thats something ill worry about later. Problem i face is my bike value with the insurance is only £1000 and there not willing to pay out more than that. My argument with them at the moment is this. I was told it doesnt matter what i value my own bike at because the premium i pay wont change unless the bike is above £1…

I am looking to Insure my Yamaha YZF-R125 and have just had my renewal from Bennetts for £170 fully comp protected with 7 years no claims and I have a full bike licence... I have just done a comparison quote with The Bike Insurer and as always with comparison sites it has come up with plenty of companies I have never heard of as Brokers, but no the insure companies ie. Equity Red Star. Has anyone heard of aQuote as they have offered £125 with legal protection (£100,000. Other than that anyone recommend anywhere else that I can get a quote please?

Hey everyone, As some may have read my bike got stolen a couple of weeks ago. It was a 2005 Yamaha XT125x - red - in perfect condition, full service history, recently had new chain, spark plugs oil, etc, less than 6000 miles on the clock. Anyway, the insurance have got back to me offering a net total of £750 for it (£1150 minus £400 excess) and I think that's a bit shoddy as I think that if I was part exing it I would have got more for it. When I insured it last year the value put on the bike was £1995 (which was probably a bit high) so I kinda thought they would go closer to that? Any advice on what I should do next? Can i decline that offer and they'll recons…
