  1. Started by wild foamy,

Hiya peeps. Im starting to look into insuring my DT project, but the cheapest quote i can find is for £107 from Swinton (FC), im 21 now with 4 years no claims, on a full licence, my old man is paying just less than £70 to insure a 1100 moto guzzi with 0 no claims . i know its not exactly a massive premium, but for a 50 that is going to spend most of its life indoors with an annual mileage of about 2000 it doesnt seem worth it O.o. has anyone had any luck with some other companies?

  2. being 20 sucks. test rode a new z1000sx yesterday, beautiful bike and loads of power (i want to upgrade from my FZ6) but the cheapest insurance i can find is £3300! will have 5 years no claims come August, and will be 21 - not that that is going to be much of a help! anyone think of any similar bikes that are in lower insurance groups? Lee, might be phoning you tomorrow! haha Matt

  3. Started by Noise,

Just had a phone call from Lee Minions at Bike sure and i have to say i'm very impressed! I had my renewal quote from Hastings direct which was £141 TPFT which was back when Betty was standard and no mods. But with Bike sure they got me fully comp with crap loads of extras like being able to ride other people bike (with their permission) with TPFT cover etc plus all of Betty's extra bits for a cracking £135! Well done Lee and thank you to the chap who sorted me out (for got his name) so give him a Ginger nut biscuit from me.

  5. Started by Matthew Duncan,

As some of you may know before i got my FZ6 i had a SV650... well i still have it and she now runs beutifully. my old man was asking if i was going to insure it this year as he was wanting to use it now and again when eh fancied a change from his st1300. Would he be able to take out a insurance policy in his name, just for him, even though im the registered keeper of the bike? Fankkks

  6. Started by marcus1994,

i recently changed my honda city fly 125 to a yamaha ybr125 but i can't workout why my insurance has gone from £400 a year to now almost 900 on the yamaha. Any advice would be appreciated. Im 19 years old and have 2 years ncb.

  7. Started by jimmy,

Reading a thread on a.n. other messageboard Basically the thoughts were, on selling a bike with a nominal term of ins left, that it was cheaper to allow a policy to run down than it was to cancel the policy with the associated admin charges. There seemed to be an agreement that this was the way ahead, although not strictly legit. The water was muddied somewhat with a link to a case where someone left his policy to run, but the new owner crashed the bike and was not insured. Bear with me, but the original Ins company was forced to pay, and they have stated that they will be chasing up the first owner as he did not cancel the policy. He is now possibly facing financial r…

  8. Insured my bike only to find the policy starts 5 days from when I wanted it to. Couldn't understand why as I had put the correct date on the form. So I phoned them up to amend it. So to sort their mistake out it added another £130 onto my policy. I couldn't believe it. I then said I will get cover elsewhere and I want it cancelling. Then they kept phoning me back to 'explain' why they added £130 extra to my policy. I told them I wasn't bothered about their explanation, they phoned me back four times the idiots. When they finally realised I wasn't as stupid and gullible as they thought they then tried to charge me a £58 cancellation fee. At this point I lost my temper, I t…

  9. Afternoon guys, Remember my 'new' FJ-1200 ? Applying for UK reg. through DVLA and they want MOT cert (check!), proof of identity (check!), application form (Check!), original former reg.docs (Check!), HMRC vat sorted (Check!), EEC cert of conformity (Check!) and .....................................................valid insurance cert. I'm a client (was with 2 bikes for 6years) with Bennets and they won't F**&^%$£)*(&^% touch me - 'No Sir we wont accept you with chassis nbr. only' - Ok so if DVLA won't give me a plate without insurance - and you won't insure me without plate - How the F$^£"&**&^% am I going to get a UK plate !! Boo hoo hoo…

  10. Started by wild foamy,

Hey peeps. had a very worrying experiance today, i was on askMID checking if the previous owner was still insured on my new Pajero as some companies wont allow two policies on the same vehicle. just as a passing fancy, i put both of my other registrations through. both came back as being uninsured!. the FTO was insured with diamond about 3 months ago, the Kia has been insured since november last year and to my knowledge both vehicles have been covered up until now. i havent been home for atleast 3 weeks now, and it was only out of chance that i drove the kia back to hungerford to sell it (buyer never turned up, c*nt) and found that i had mail from two week…

  11. I called the YOC Bikesure insurance number this morning for a quote on the TS. I was just finishing the quote when Lee from Bikesure called me. I got a good, competitive, quote so it looks like I will move insurers on the TS at the end of the Month. The SV is part way through an insurance period but I am tempted to look for a multibike policy when it expires, or when a project is ready to get on the road. This did raise a couple of questions though; each bikes no claims can only be used once. If I went for a multibike policy would this be for the highest number of years or the lowest? Also, if after a few years I decided to split the policies again, how does the NCD's…

  12. short storey - when i was 16 i insured my 50cc scoot scoot for £183 fully comp, and it was valued at £350 since then, i moved onto a 125, then a 600, and now have a SV650S. Well times are getting tough, and i was planning getting a wee 50cc just for kicking back and forth between work and home. Found one online for £280 got an insurance quote and it was £210?! i dont understand why its so high! my XJ600N was fully comp insured with a value of £800 and it was only £240 to insure. someone shed a light on how they guage risk? as im only 19 im being humped left right and centre. do my 4 years ( as of aug) ncb and continious riding not count for jack shit? …

  17. Would this invalidate my insurance? I've searched online and a lot of people are saying that pillion cover is not compulsory and it will only cover against injury to pillions. Would something like this be subject to insurers policy on whether your insurance is invalidated if you carry a pillion?

  18. Hello all, what you think of this then for new quote from last year.last years policy (comprehensive) was £207 with monthly payments which covers me for legal protection helmet and leathers and pillion cover with £100 access.received new docs today and said new policy was £163:78 for the year or monthly £18:00 with 1 year no claims yeah lol.only to phone them up to try and get it cheaper and was told was best they could do? so left it. rang back again spoke to some 1 else and got it for £132 all in so how does that work yet another saving.not that I am moaning just thought would share with you people it does pay to shop around and barter with the insurance companies. than…

  19. I'm up for renewal and my premium for the XT has gone up by £50 to £450, doesn't seem too bad. When I asked the same insurance company (MCE) for a quote about adding a second bike (WR250F) to the policy, I was quoted just under £1500!!! What the F! When I asked why it was that high, they said it was because of my age and that I shouldn't have two bikes, even though the WR250F is mostly for off-road riding. I'm really disappointed to be honest.

  20. So the local Rotory Club Marafun is this weekend coming, and there as usual will be a car and motorcycle rally. never had time to get any of our old bikes on the road this year - :'( however my old man got his BSA Winged Wheel Back from Grampian Transport Museam. My question is, when opering it as a push bike, am i still required to insure it? Thanks! and i was planning taking the SV but apparently it only likes the one cyclinder. again.
