Came across this company when i was in my local bike shop, and there was people talking about uninsured losses (excess) www.motorcycle-lep.co.uk its free to register, and if your in a non fault accident they will recover your costs. There number is 0800 089 2289 and once registerd on there site you just phone them if your involved in an accident. I am not affiliated with the company other than just being registered myself, but think its well worth it as its free and not everyone gets legal cover with there insurance

Got an email from Confused...... today about the SV insurance renewal. Checked my insurance on it and it doesn't run out until early May!!! Cheeky barstewards, trying to get my cash more than a month early. Fully comp with £400 excess (£200 compulsory and £200 voluntary) was the cheapest quote at £75.45 Hastings, with £300 excess (£100 compulsory and £200 voluntary) was next at £82.11 Went onto the website and changed the voluntary excess to £0. Hastings came back with £100 compulsory excess and no voluntary excess at £82.11 - yep the same price as they quoted with £300 excess.

MCE have just phoned after renewing my policy a few days ago and have just blagged an extra £8 a month out of me. For my extra £8 I get nil excess and guaranteed 2 years NCB even if I have had an accident. It seems ok but I still feel violated.

It's nearly time to renew my insurance and I'm thinking is it worth getting theft cover? From what I have seen and heard when a person who is covered gets their bike stolen they get shafted by the insurance anyway. So would it be better just to invest in more security and be more vigilant? I am considering going third party only. Opinions?

Did you tell them a legitimate estimate and if you have happened to go above your initial estimate, have you called to let them know? How big was the premium increase with respect to mileage increase? I recently read that the mileage is one of the first things an underwriter checks before accepting a claim.

i know this is a bike forum, but im confused and cant find anything online this morning on my way into work i was stopped at traffic lights, when a car run into the back of me. this caused me to bump the car infrint. my car appears to have no damage, but the car onfront has 50 quids worth of damamge, and the car behind (that caused the accident) is awaiting comformation on costs - none of them are wanting to go through insureance. The car that i hit, went to the garage straigth after the accident and the garage phoned me asking me to pay the repairs if we werent wanting to go through insurance. Should i be? or should it be the car that caused the accident …

Iv recently had to renew my insurance and as usual went on on the price comparison sites to see whats about. My cheapest quote from them all was around £220.00 which I thought was okay but was about the same amount that I had paid the previous year. I then went direct to Bennetts and filled out a quote with all the same details and it came back at £125.00! Soo has anyone else noticed that it seems to be worth while going around insurers sites and seeing what they can offer instead of the price comparison sites? It seems to have saved me a fair bit of money as Bennetts wanted around £250.00 on comparethemarket. It seems insurers are either taking advantage of people be…

Hey guys here what I would say is the best tip for you to get the best insurance you can get: Play the companies off against each other to get the best deal Shop around. Use comparison websites Call the companies as well the Internet is not you only tool Try to see if you really need fully comp. (or if fully comp is cheaper) Make sure you enter all the data correctly If you have any tips leave a reply and I will add them

Insured a bike last week as Social, Domestic, Pleasure only. Decided this week I want to add commuting as well and it works out £52 cheaper... (it was £40 more at the time I took out original policy). Very odd. Also reinsured V-Strom yesterday. Bennetts kindly offered to auto renew for £489 for my convenience (unless I phone to cancel), £400 compulsory excess and £50 voluntary, so phone up and they immediately say cheapest they can do it is £405. Anyway, got it for £280 elsewhere with compulsory £250 excess and no voluntary, business use with additional rider. Oh, and I informed them on telephone I had panniers (no option to add them on internet) and apart from not know…

Chaps, I bought my first bike a few days ago, with a view to taking my CBT at the end of the month (delays in my provisional license arriving). I got some quotes off a few insurance sites, and for obvious reasons my insurance policy comes down by about 50% once I pass my CBT. So with this in mind, I phoned the insurance company who told me that a fully comp policy for the year would cost me £231 once I pass my CBT, however there's going to be a gap of 2-3 weeks where my bike is sitting on my driveway uninsured... Does anyone know of a company who will insure my bike against theft only, sitting off the road for a couple of weeks? I have found a couple of sites tha…

Hello, I am a 17 year old male and I am about to buy a Yamaha yzf r125. I have been saving and I decided to buy a bike because I heard the insurance is much cheaper than a car. Roughly, how much would it be a year for me to insure this bike??? Thanks a lot.

hi everyone .. first time on forum so be gentle with me .. i just phoned bennets to add panniers to my fully comp insurance (£70 per year for my xj600 well i am over 60 so it should be cheap) .. and was told that did i know that most motorcycle insurance policies do not cover the rider for his/her injuries ? for this you need personal injury insurance which cost me £33 more per year .. so all the years i have been riding bikes i have not had injury cover even though i always have fully comp .. the moral is just because you have comprehensive insurance dont take it for granted that you have cover for your body in the event that some .... in a car causes you to damage your …

does anyone know of a car insurance provider that accepts a bike NCB for a car? i've heard that there are a few out there, and would probably need to ring round, but if anyone has an inkling (or a car ideally ) it'd be much appreciated, since i need to run a car to be able to get into the job i want, but im not paying £4000 for insurance on a £3000 car when my bike insurance is only £400 thanks peeps!

Having just been quoted over £2k for my son to get insurance on a restricted bike, I am looking to pick him up something a bit smaller, within the 33bhp limit. He is into the cruiser style so looking at an xvs400 or summit similar. From the collective experience of the board, what is available to him. What bhp is a 535 Virago or the xv650. Any advice, help, ridicule welcomed.

Hi guys, This is just a general conversation that I would like peoples opinions with, I currently have a Yamaha Ybr125 Custom 58 reg under fully comp costing me a massive £400 a year for it... Now ive heard arguments that with cheaper bikes a small accident will pretty much allways result in a cat D write off. Im not massivly educated in Insurance so what is your opinion? Is it worth getting fully comp or should cheaper bike riders stick with Third party or third part F+T?

Hi, Does anyone know how I go about getting my Sourthern Ireland registered RD350LC registered in the UK? I've been told that I may need a letter form this club to validate the year of manufacture for an age related plate, however I do have the original Irish log book stating the date. Any help will be appreciated, Many thanks Andy.
