Hi there, i'm new to the forum so do forgive me if i make any mistakes. Just picked up my brand new Yamaha YZF R125 50th Anniversary edition yesterday, rides like a dream and goes pretty well (bearing in mind i come from a 50cc scooter restricted to 30mph and i'm only 17) Anyhow, the CHEAPEST insurance i could get fully comp was £1007 a year, and of course there is no way i can fork up that cash up front, so its more like £1300 a year with the monthly interest. I have a claim against me (driver hit me, as he skipped across lanes, but he made up phony witnesses and won the damn claim against me) it was a very small amount, writ of my scooter though. Is £1300 a year exp…

It's a load of horse s**t. I have a 2012 XJ6 [naked] was thinking of trading for XT660Z Tenere. Phoned insurance company. Got a quote, goes from £1000[fully comp] on the XJ6 to £2000 on the tenere. A lower powered bike? Makes no sense to me! It's not like the bike is worth a thousand quid more either! Oh just a note, with another company I can get it for £1000. Just the shitty one I'm tied in with thats expensive lol.

  5. I'm going to get myself a spanking-new YBR 125 in the next few days, with a view to getting my CBT next week. A chap at work (who I don't know well enough to just trust out-of-hand) suggests it should be feasible to haggle for the Yamaha dealer to include insurance with a purchase of a new bike. Is that likely, or am I wasting my (and the dealer's) time even suggesting it? Is it a "done" thing? Also, is there flexibility on pricing for new lower-end bikes? I've only ever bought cars, and those 2nd-hand, so price has always been negotiable. This will be my first new vehicle ever Thanks, Cyl.

  6. This is a bit unique, so thought I would ask here as I can't seem to find anything online. Question - If I sell my car, can I keep my 12 years CAR NCB? BACKGROUND:- Currently I have 12 years CAR NCB, and recently I purchased a Motorbike - to save money on fuel. My partner who lives with me has a ford fiesta. Thinking about selling my car and getting insured on her's. So, if I sell my car, and I get insured onto her fiesta, can I therefore keep my CARS NCB? Look forward to your answers

Hi all Even though I passed my car driving license almost 30 years ago I'm totally new to motorcycling (should pass my CBT in a couple of weeks). I've been shopping for an insurance for my XVS 125 and got the following quote from Devitt/Aviva: Please let me know what you think of it.

  9. Sorry about this, as it has probably been answered a million times before. I am 18, just passed my full test last week. Have been riding my R125 for about 8 or 9 months now, no claims. Does anybody know roughly what the insurance would be on a (new or almost new) XJ6-N ABS ? I have done all the comparison sites, and £1,900 is the cheapest fully comp I can find so far... I am hoping to get that down a bit when I phone up... If anyone knows any cheap insurers for younger riders, I would appreciate the advice 18 Years old, approaching 1 year no claims. I will be doing about 9,000 - 10,000 miles a year. Probably will take pillions... Kept in a…

i have just recieved my insurance quote for 2012 WTF it has gone up by 40% considering i have been riding 48yrs never claimed and have had no convictions since 1993 not only has it gone up but they have put a £700 excess on it when i phoned them they said it was because of the amount of fraudulent claims. so rang round for other quotes bennetts would not cover me because my bikes been modified from standard funny they had no problem insuring it 18 months ago. but all was not lost using motorcycle news they sent me multiple quotes and where carole nash wanted £770 + 700 excess for fully comp on my tt600 and newly aquirred daytona 675 in febuary if i can …

Evening all, I'm after info on third party fire and theft, this evening I came off my bike so want to know if I'm able to claim etc. Bike riding in wet conditions but not raining, 2 cars pull out of a turning not too far before I get there, a third is edging out, edged out to the point I thought they were going to pull out on me, breaks went on, rear wheel slipped out and bike skidded across the tarmac, me with it. Woman claims she saw me and wasn't pulling out but had no excuse to edging out when she shouldn't have been, turns out she was a police officer - yeh really should know better. Damage, the bar thing along the side which I guess is for slides is…

Its not too bad it'll take about £500-£600 to put right, but all my gear is wrecked about £1000 worth in all with the jacket trousers gloves and helmet taking a battering. I only passed my test this year and dont think I have anyone to claim of other than the council, due to a pothole in the road that never helped me but certainly was a contributing factor in the crash, mixed with me going to fast at the time. Do you think its worth me claiming of my insurance for the gear and bits for the bike or just taking the hit? I would assume that if I claimed then my policy for next year would go through the roof?

What is a "modification"?? I was looking on one comparison website and they list a Scotoiler as a modification. I always thought it was things like new exhausts/risers/handlebars/bored engines etc. They also ask has it been modified from manufacturers original specs so if they bike comes with "free accessories" then I guess that counts too. Does my aftermarket tax disc holder also count?? As for my Fazer - its 10 years old... I have no idea if it's been modified from manufacturers original specs, the bloke that sold it to me didn't say it was but he didn't say it wasn't either??? Why can't they just say unless its increasing BHP etc then list your mods, …

ok so did a few quotes for my 89 125 DTR. 25year old married man, 7 years car driving and prov bike licence with CBT. With my 6 points declared for an MS90, and a CU80 ( plus my TS10 which is now off my licence but scummy insurers say i must tell them for 5yrs) the quote was £124 TP only. now when i also gave information on my one criminal conviction, that went up to £700+ TPFT. Rang around a bit and managed to get the price down to £359, but its still more than i feel i should be paying to insure a DT125R Third party! Anyone recommend any insurers that specialise in drivers with criminal convictions?

Hi All, I've got an XJ600n with an XY6D Motad Nexxus Exhaust - complete 4-1 system and my insurance company said they only need to know about it if it increases the power by 5% or more. Anyone got any idea if this exhaust increases power. I have tried google but seem to be failing Thanks

  19. Well it's coming up to that time of year again where I have to drop my pants and take it like a man so I thought I'd make an early start before the yearly insult drops through my letterbox like an unwanted cow pat. After many years of jiggling between Carole Nash and various other low lives (can't knock CN though, not the cheapest but by far the best service I've had especially afetr being knocked off by a woman changing lanes late for work. Oooh I didn't see you love was her reply as I crawled over to my pride and joy. Bright red Goldwing, headlights on with lower driving lamps and she didn't see me!!! Hi there, wondering if anyone can give me some advice on insurance, At current i have a Hyosung XR125 which has fully comp insurance on a policy that has 2 years No Claims Bonus. Recently i purchased a months insurnace ( Ebike Pay as you go) for my XJ600 as once it was restriced i could not wait to get on the road with it. For this i stated i had 0 No claims Bonus, as it was being used in another policy, and i got Third party cover. The problem is, i parked my bike at asda and while i was inside it over . . there was thankfully no damage to my bike, but when it fell, it made a nice dent and scratch on someones car... i did the decent thing and we…
