Help needed please, when bike is turned on it fires, but if it doesn't burst into action it has to be left 10 minutes before it will fire again. Could this be a diode problem. When it does run engine seems fine but number 2 exhaust runs considerably cooler than the others.

Hello I just purchased a 72 RD200 and the center light on the dash is on and stays on when the bike is running. The lights are labeled N F C from left to right. I know the N is neutral but what are the other two lights for? especially the "F" light?

My newly restored Dt 125 LC 1 is down on power ie not pulling fully in top gear. I’m going through the list of possible causes. One could be a weakened spark. I’ve been told that the igntion coil (flywheel) can degrade with age ? I know the compression/ fuelling/ sprocket ratios are okay. I will clean the front exhaust expansion chamber but it does not seem blocked

My Rs125DX is showing signs of needing a decoke. No problem removing the exhaust but when I tried to remove the baffle the first bit came off but the rest of it is stuck inside. Seems a previous attempt at this caused the baffle to snap, just where the thinner part meets the thicker part. Neither the exhaust nor the baffle are available to buy so it seems that I'll have to do the best with what I've got. I was thinking of pouring petrol or similar into the pipe then blocking off both ends and allow it to sit for a day or two. Then, with a hammer and broom handle or similar, knock the stuck bit out of the exhaust pipe. Clean the baffle up then repair it by welding. …

I wonder if anyone can help: Over the last few days a problem has developed when I'm riding my bike. Most of the time it runs perfectly. From time to time though the engine dies completely for just one or two seconds, then comes back to life and runs perfectly again. It doesn't feel like fuel starvation, had this problem in the past and it died more slowly. I took the carb off though and cleaned it, although the jets looked clear. Any ideas what the problem might be here? Thanks.

'79 XS400 twin I just got this Yamaha in a trade, told it ran good when parked, needs TLC I like the bike, and am taking steps to make it dependable to ride next year. And a little more power if possible. Turbo, maybe? OK, so first of all I got a replacement fuse box/wiring harness on ebay. The old fuse box had previous issues, so their friend wired everything direct, around the fuse box. (thus the new harness!) My idea, I'm not riding a direct wired bike anywhere lol. Also managed to find new exhaust on ebay. Original was getting very rusty up front. Been a while since I've owned a motorcycle but divorced and looking to do a lot of riding now. Any t…

Hello. I'm brand new to the forum, as I have just begun working on an early Yamaha twin that I acquired in 2004. I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to help me identify the model, because I can't find much info about it. The title says it is a 1966, but doesn't provide the displacement. The headlight nacelle says YHA-1. If needed I can provide pics or the serial number. It has all the original paint (red and cream color), and is a streetbike with low exhaust pipes and fenders. If anyone can give me a clue it would sure make it alot easier to order parts. Thanks.

So still trying to get this sorted. I've spent so much time trying to figure out the overheating issue that I set aside the vibration problem till that was solved. Now it's sorted I am back on the vibe deal. When I rebulit the 2A7 years ago I put all new bearings in. Except for the clutch basket 'spacer'. I remembered this recently so I am channeling my energies in that direction. So the vibe comes in all gears at somewhere between 3500-4500 rpm, and again up around 6000. Knowing I replaced all bearings except anything dealing with the clutch I decided to start pulling the clutch side apart. There is a rancid smell coming from the clutch parts and maybe elsewhere, an…

Does anyone know where to find out the rear spring, suspension rate specifications. The rear Mono shock spring on my 1985 DT125 LC1 is to soft for my body weight. I've spoken to some UK spring suppliers but they all require the specific spring rate in addition to dimensions etc. At the moment it seems that normal spring was designed for a carry weight of 75 / 80 Kgs but this is as far as Ive got ?

Hello, my 79 XS1100 has been running fine up until last night. This is 4th actual time riding it, I've rode previously from getting from the shop weeks ago but now put some issues on myself. local shop everything that was fixed/replaced. * fuel line replaced * dirt bags used dot 4 brake fluid, but haven't encountered a problem...yet . I even gave them the manual. *carb washers were replaced (and carbs were actually rebuilt when bought it from the owner.) *gasket float chamber *rebuild kit for rear brake. *60/55W halgon h4 ( recently did) Yesterday I pulled the choke out for a few seconds and even rode with it out. Reason b…

I was looking through a service manual for my Yamaha XS1100 1979 and on the maintenance portion, I couldn't find locating the clutch reservoir. I considered changing the clutch fluid/trans fluid eventually. (is clutch and trans fluid the same thing?) And as far as storage goes I know winter isn't until a few months depending on where you live. I'm currently living in Michigan. I plan on doing this in order. - Run it out of gas with petcocks on, to drain the carbs - Fill gas tank up all the way up and add fuel stabilizer - Drain the engine oil and put new oil. - Rear and front brakes not sure if it's necessary to drain? Should I drain t…

Hello everyone new to this forum. I recently got my rear brake fixed up at a local shop. I noticed as I was putting my tarp our a hose hanging out, obviously this shouldn't be sticking it out what can do you guys suggest? I know I can put the center stand under it and maybe do it myself. But is this an easy fix?
