Hi Really like the site, have just joined. Would like to buy a Yamaha YAS1, anyone know where there may be one for sale. Had one when I was 16 (1969) and unfortunately that makes me now 55. Have continued to ride for most of that time. Current bike is a Yamaha MT03, great bike. Thanks Harry

Hello my refurbished DT175MX is still giving mixture problems on low throttle settings causing a misfire type problem but opening the throttle cures it. I have carefully adjusted the carb. mixture screw and lowered the needle by one slot but to no avail. this machine was refurbished for trail racing and has a fast throttle fitted. Any advice would be welcomed.

Hey everyone, I finally found a forum for the Chappy! I have two 1975 Chappys. One was my first motorcycle that my pop got me when I was 10. (the yellow one) I am restoring it to give to him for his birthday this year without him knowing. The engine is good but the other components are not so good.. (the red one) I purchased another 1975 LB80 locally and it has a bad engine, but good other components. So I say my yellow one has a good engine, as in it started and ran a year ago around December. I have it now in my garage and it is not getting any spark.. Where do I start?

I have a new chain and sprocket kit for my bike. My previous bike had a separate cover for the front sprocket but the RS125 just has one cover on the left hand side, that covers everything. I know the clutch cable locates under here plus the clutch push rod. There's also the neutral switch, I think. I'm comfortable removing the gearshift lever, all the bolts are free that hold the case. I'm nervous though. If I go ahead, remove the bolts and gear lever, manage to get the cover off, am I likely to have a load of things fall out not knowing where they came from, or how to replace them? Any help appreciated!

Evening all, thought I'd check in. I have some good news, well, at least for me. I finally have resolved my overheating issues with the 78 DT175. Turns out the little Yam actually needs the oil that gets injected or premixed, as each of us prefers. We all thought it was seizing due to running too lean, and while that may have been partly true, I discovered an error on my part that could have done serious damage other than heat seizure. It finally occurred to me that the large air gap in the clear plastic Yamalube tube was, in fact, preventing proper delivery of said oil. I thought that normal running would remove the air gap. Alas, 'twas not so. Things were made a li…

So there's also the 71 AT-1 and the 74 GT80 to talk of. I've been working with the jetting on both bikes, leaning them out for the high altitude here ( around 4000m). I think the AT-1 is close but I'm waiting on a new air filter before going further. It seems as if the 125 is not getting enough air, and the filter, while clean, looks almost original. So waiting on a filter. I went from a 150 to a 120 main and a 20 pilot jet on this (same jets as now in the DT). Runs better but bogs quickly going uphill, and the airbox sounds almost like a resonator, like it is laboring very hard to pull air through. I don't want to run it without the filter due to dusty conditions here, s…

Hi there, A quck intro to you guys on here. Im mark from Teesside uk England. I own a gixxer 750 gs550 gs250t and a dt175mx so I like my bikes so I do. The dt is getting a top end rebuild. Engine builders recommend the following for help seating the rings. Do I assemble piston dry and run on mineral 2 stroke oil and also do I run it hard to seat the rings in the first hr riding. This advice is given on other forums which is the opposite to what ive done over the years. years ago I would run on semi syth oil and lube the piston upon assembly and run it in for 500 miles. Please advise

My Yamaha RS125 is throwing out white smoke when I start it up, and for the first few miles of a ride, before clearing up. It's using gearbox oil. Seems the right hand crank seal has gone. Does anyone know if the seal can be replaced by removing the clutch assembly, or is it an engine out job and split the crankcases? Thanks for any replies.

My '82 RS125DX has 5 loose spokes on one side of the rear wheel. While it's not affecting the ride I'dlike to fix this and it may possibly be an mot fail? I've tried to adjust them but the adjusting nipples are rusted solid. I've tried a bit of wd40 and 3 in 1, clamp the spoke with mole grips close to the nipple and worked them backwards and forwards but no joy. Any hints or tips how I might free these?

Apologies for this being a bit long winded, thought it best to explain in full. I've had a Yamaha RS125DX for a month now. I've had one of the 2 following problems quite regularly since: Either: Petrol flows from the carb overflow when I stop, engine floods. Or: Bike runs fine for a couple of miles then bogs down and dies. This happens quicker if I rev the bike harder. After waiting a minute or two the bike starts again, same thing happens a couple of miles down the road. I think both problems are caused by the same thing: The float needle isn't moving in and out correctly. It's either doesn't move far enough up and fuel overflows, or doesn't move down…

Hi. I've just found this forum. I've recently purchased a 1976 Yamaha V50P moped. I didn't really know they existed until about a month ago. I bought it off eBay on a whim. I love the bike. It's a characterful little 2 stroke and attracts positive comments all the time. I could do with replacing the air filter and mistakenly assumed it was the same fitment as the FS1E. They're different. Can anyone direct me to a good source of OEM/ pattern parts for a V50? Also, is the V50/V75/V90 similar to the U70 model? Are parts interchangeable?

Afternoon all, New to the forum but seeking advice. Advice – I Have just come in possession of a 1994 Yamaha SR250. It runs well etc however is not original which doesnt bother me as a I plan to turn this into a 60s style scrambler/Enduro. I believe they are stock wheels front tyre 90/90 H18 and Rear 130-90-16-67H, I want to put on some Trail/Road tyres to improve the look (obviously not the handling) however im struggling to find a set that will sit on the stock wheels. Firstly does anyone know what tyres would fit, secondly is it pretty much the same stock set up as the XT250? Has or is anyone else undertaking such a venture that we can bounce ideas off?
