Hey all, new to this group and also the new owner of an old 350cc Yamaha project. Hoping someone could help me with clarifying something as I dig into the details of my new project. My frame and engine are stamped: (R1-04392). Is what I have a 1967 Yamaha YR1? If so, does anyone know how many Yamaha produced for this year? Any and all help/insight is appreciated!

Is there anyone out there that has a gearbox dipstick for a YR1,2 or 3 and can give me the dimensions so I can make one? The capacity is not on the casing and having had this bike 4 years I feel I should change the oil.

Hi everyone I am new to the club and here goes. I just need the rubber boot connection in the airbox to the carb, bike Model No 4J40 to finish the project, so near but so far away. Part No 3J11445300 to finish the project. Its been so frustrating as I have bought two already on ebay which look ok but ended up being too small. I do also need the Airbox cover to replace the one I had to make but not essential. Part No 3J01441200.

Hey folks, just joined the forum, hoping to get some insight on this bike. There are 2 (3 if you count the strainer) oil drains on this bike - on on the clutch/trans side and another on the right. I managed to find the service manual and it states to pour 1300cc into the left side through the breather port - ok great. but the right side has a proper oil filler cap and a separate drain and I cant figure out how much oil im supposed to put in here - no info in the service manual. Anyone come across this before? Also if anyone needs color electrical/wiring Ive got em. Here's the bike how I got her: https://ibb.co/NCLgjZ5

I have an xs650, bigger oil pump, oil cooler, and remote filter. The Tacho cable is taken off the oil pump, so if the Tacho stops woking, the oil pump may not be working either. As we all know, the XS650 uses roller bearings, so the oil pressure / flow is low compared to engines with plain bearings. Has anyone got any idea what the Maximum and Minimum pressures should be, and does anyone know where I can get a mechanical pressure guage for this range?

hi there, I have a xs750 from ´77 build as a cafe racer and suddenly with NO power and no ignition at all. USed to work just fine. So I needed to try to find out where to start searching for at solotion. I have changed to a new battery and tested it. I have also testet starter solenoid which seems ok as well. Starter motor had some problems so I´ve cleaned it and also seems to work fine now. The problem must be electrical and therefore I´ve replaced all fuses with new ones. Why dont I get any power to the bikes indicator lamp, light etc..all dead ? I have not checked ignition switch and not the rectifier since I dont know how. Could it simply be t…

Hi all, new to the club. I've been given a 1967(ish) U5E 50cc stepthrough, I have all the original registration paperwork, even it's last mot (1975). I've tried to reregister it with the DVLA but they are unable to do it as they have no record of the bike in their database and they have told me I need pre 1983 documentary evidence linking the chassis number to the bike. Has anyone any idea as to how to obtain this. TIA Alan

I had one of these in 1987. Here are my impressions for anybody who might be bothered... Somehow I keep buying bikes that I don’t really need, don’t have the money or space for. Then I create a mythical role for them, realise that I had been a pillock for buying the bike in the first place and then sell it on. Is this just me? Anyway my Yamaha RD250E fell firmly into this camp. When the immaculate, low mileage RD was offered to me my will power crumbled as soon as I heard that delicious two-stroke burble from the exhausts. The Yam was also painted in those Kenny Roberts inspired colours of bright yellow with black racing blocks. The very first thing…

Hey all, just moving through a cafe racer rebuild on a '79 XS750 and getting to rebuilding the carbs. Im going to be running pod filters and straight through exhaust. How many sizes in carb jetting should I go up? Do only the pilot and main jet have to be enlarged, or does the air jet too? Cheers.

HELLO ALL first a Happy New Year to you and people you care about. (and your bikes). I am a french-speaking newcomer on this Forum and I wish to join the SZR "buffs" or entusiasts. I bought a to-be-finished 1996 SZR in poor condition, and spares to complete it. Please indicate if such a topic exists.

Have a 1984 rd50mx that I have stripped and rebuilt etc, I didnt replace and clutch parts as they worked fine and the friction plates and springs appeared fine. Engine runs great, but engage 1st gear and the rear wheel turns slowly and can be stopped easily by hand. The only 2 things I have not done were: 1 didnt use a torque wrench to tighten the clutch springs - just used a good sense of feel. 2 I didnt use the oil stated in the manual as 10w/30 engine oil; I used some modern scooter transmission oil from Halfords that is 10w/40. I have checked the oil level twice and it is spot on. Surely the slight change in oil wouldnt cause such massive…

Hi guys! So I posted recently through my top end rebuild and I'm damn near done. I've run into some snags though and could use some help. I called all of my local shops, repair shops, muffler shops, restoration shops, and even some friends but I'm on my own. Shop were all full or not in "Vintage Season"... Anyways, let me start by listing what I have done and then where I need help! Thanks in advance!**In all steps, I'm using my Clymer manual as my guidance.Completed:-Pulled Carbs and disassembled.-Chem dipped jets, bowls (note: passages are in the bottom of the bowl as well as jets.), and just got a good cleaning through the carbs.
