Hey all, I'm trying to get my dad's 78 DT400 running again, I started with cleaning the carb, replacing fuel lines, replacing the spark plug, and the coil, I'll picking up a new battery tomorrow. After replacing the plug and coil, there is still no spark, I've been kicking it over without the battery in it, but front my understanding that is it's kick to start it doesn't need a battery. I've been told that it could be the stator, which I've looked at prices online and that's something I'll have to weight until next year to mess with. Is there a way to test the stator to see if it's the problem? Could it be possible that there is another reason for it not having spark? …

Hi forum I did try to get to the bottom of an issue I had a while back but never really got there so hoping this time I can get to the bottom of it 76 DT175 Bike runs ok (although air screw pretty much full in), can start easily with No choke, pulls well..for a while After 10 15 mins it suddenly loses power and lots of blue smoke seems to be worse if forced to idle, say in traffic Put a new carb on it Burnt out exhaust with heat gun Running with air filter Running on oil pump Would crank seals cause this? Weak spark from primary coil breaking up when hot? Any suggestions or knowledge most welcome before I jus…

Hi Everyone, I have been a member here for a while and haven't posted in ages. I apologise if this is posted in the wrong place but here goes... A couple of years back I bought a DT50MX as a project. Unfortunately I just haven't had the time to do much with it and have had trouble sourcing a few important bits, so would like to sell off the parts. I have a frame which was professionally sandblasted and painted in two pack, and an engine in good mechanical condition which needs tidying up cosmetically. Both of the numbers on the engine and frame match, and I have the v5 in my name for them. I also have the fork yokes and a set of taper rolled bearings…

I am vaguely contemplating buying a 1974 TX500 to add to my stable.............it is in lovely original condition with around 7k miles on the clock, running well and at a reasonable price too.......given all the tales of woe about cracked heads, am I completely bonkers to consider doing such a thing? (a bit cracked in the head too?)...... Cheers, Ben Tomlin

I'm confused, there's three drain plugs and two fill holes that I can see. I assume one for clutch fluid and one for oil. Can anyone tell me what type and how much of each? And what's the third drain plug for? Thanks for the help

Hey all, this project took a long hiatus, it's been eight years since I've been here. I ended up going a different route for a bike so this project was mothballed. This year a young guy at work has taken an interest in this bike after I mentioned it, and I figure it's better off in the hands of someone that has an interest in it rather then just sitting around for eons under a tarp. He's never had a bike and doesn't know a whole lot about wrenching, but he seems willing to learn. So I figure he can resurrect this ride and learn to wrench and ride with me giving him guidance where needed. Here's the odd thing, _all_ of my posts in this forum from eight years ago …

Got my 74 dt 125 running but pretty smokey--white smoke. So is that too lean? Everything seems to be working okay--but I really don't know how you test the autolube oil pump. I check all the adjustments per manual but still don't really know if it's getting the oil needed. I want to keep it stock --as in I don't want to pre-mix. Just wondered if anyone knows how to diagnose smoke and if there is a test of some sort to see if oil pump is working . Thanks!

I'm hoping to connect with the like minded owners of the XS250 range and I'm after some info, history, advice etc on this particular bike as I've just bought one and know very little about them.

Hi there! My name is Liam, I’m 18, and am mad in love with old school/style bikes. I come asking for some advice/help. I bought a Yamaha SR125 off my pal, but there is something wrong with it. It doesn’t start. At first, I thought it was a compression issue, but it’s not. Then I thought it was because the carburetor hadn’t be cleaned, so I cleaned it out and everything. I then ask my friend what he thinks it could be and he believes the carburetor isn’t sucking the fuel. How could I test if it’s that, or know it’s that? Thank you in advance for any advice!

Hi guys, I've got a DT 125 I think somewhere around 1990 but can't be sure. The vin on the engine and frame differ in the 3 last digits. Does this mean a previous owner replaced the frame or engine? The frame reads 3TT-083### and engine reads 3TT-083### I can't seem to find any model chard that includes 3TT so if anyone could give me an exact model and year that would be amazing! Thanks a bunch Mod edit Cynic:- You don't want full frame/engine numbers in open forum, only need the prefixes with maybe the first couple of numbers.
