HI. ..probably a topic that's been discussed at great length so apologies in advance. Just purchased a DT125LC monoshock and not sure of year. Trying to set the carb and must admit to being extremely worried about causing engine damage due to fuel being to rich or lean. Bike doesn't pull away decently in first but then goes like a bat out of hell above 1st. Bike is premix at 33:1 . Have fuel screw at 1 3/4 turns out. All suggestions on air screw and other settings will be much appreciated. Also should I fit a decent airfilter as the one fitted is just a bit of stocking by the looks. Many thanks

I've just bought a new helmet. I wanted it last year but everywhere was out of stock so I bought a traditional MX helmet. I still like my old helmet, but I must admit I am really impressed with this one. It even has flip down sun glasses which will come in handy, also it was great value for the money I paid. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WULFSPORT-2013-PRIMA-SPEED-MX-ENDURO-DUAL-SPORT-MOTOCROSS-MOTORCYCLE-WULF-HELMET-/190736997009?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Helmets&var=&hash=item2c68cf9a91

Hi, was wondering if it is possible to fit a YZ426 engine of the same year onto a WR426, both 2001 models. I know their is a slight difference in cam timing and gearbox but is their anything else that could cause issues? Thanks

Hello all, New Yamaha-owner from Sweden here! I've adopted this DT to use as a commuter during the winter here in Sweden, as well as to make that baby-step into some gravel adventures come spring. Just recently I discovered transmission oil dripping from I suspect either the gear change shaft or sprocket. In any case, I ordered an oil seal kit from a UK-vendor, together with a complete gasket kit to be on the safe side, as the clutch side cover gasket looked a bit iffy as well. My question though, is that seeing how difficult it is to find a proper parts fiche for this particular model, are there any other models from the Yamaha DT-range that has parts…

Hello, Just wondering what options I have for engine replacement or repair for my 99 TDM 850? As you can see from the photos attached, there is a crack in the engine.. It appears that it's only in the bottom block. I'm finding it hard to source a replacement engine. I'd much rather just bolt out, bolt in if possible, however it isn't looking likely. Is the TRX850 the same engine and interchangeable with the TDM850? If not, what are my options? I bought this bike as a project with the intent to rebuild. I haven't had it started at this stage. After attempting to start it, the starter relay clicks, however the starter doesn't engage or turn over. …

Hi guys. New to the forum and two strokes. Bought my uncles 94 DT that's been sat in his garage for 15 years, it's in fantastic condition on the outside but mechanically it's a bit of an unknown. It was running perfect when garaged in 2001ish. Just wondering if you could give me a few pointers to look out for on them as I've never dealt with 2 strokes. Best oils? What goes wrong? Etc Also how would I go about de-restricting it? Sorry for all the questions! Any help would be massively appreciated. Jonathan

Hello everyone. I tried looking on dtr125.net but it seems to be closed? I have a 2002 DT125R which is totally standard. It's not done much mileage to be honest so it's not been messed with. i want to derestrict it but didn't really want to change the tail pipe as I feel that just creates more noise. I am going to use it green laning so like it quite to be honest. I have read about a reed switch in the speeo and something about cutting a peice off the carb rubber? basically want I want to get it down to is how can I make a bit more power. Keeping the orginal tail pipe which I think is the best pipe for these bikes. Any help is appreciated.

I recently did a top end rebuild on the bike but I'm not very happy with how it's running since the new top end, it's worse than before the rebuild. I'm not sure if my power valve is set up correctly, how can I check this and get it set up perfectly? Ways the bike is different since new top end: It doesn't start as well. When you first start it you have to keep the revs above 3k for the first 30 seconds or so otherwise it will die straight away. There's not as much top end power, not sure if power valve issue or if the bike needs to be re-jetted. Is it common for 2t's to need jetting adjustments after top end rebuild? There is some popping in the lo…

The light had been on for a little while but last time I checked there was still a fair amount in the reservoir, just forgot to check today and unfortunately it ran out while I was going down the road. I know I f**ked up. I just ordered some oil yesterday as well. The bike died similarly to as if it had run out of petrol. I pushed it home and changed the plug and put some cheap 2 stroke in it that I had in the garage. Tried starting it and at first it would die straight away and sounded different. I then unscrewed the oil pump bleed screw and left that out until oil was flowing from the drain hole. Now when I start it, it will idle okay but it still sounds a bit different…

hi all, i have an 02 dt1215r that i have recently re-jetted, the carb from standard had a jet size of 240 and upped it to a 260 because i changed the exhaust tailpipe to an athena one, so was wondering if i should(if its even possible) adjust the oil pump to give a bit more oil/fuel mix. bike doesn't get thrashed or even given a hard time probably 6500rpm max so that it clears its throat, bike is only used for pottering round on sunny days like we are having at the moment

Hey, as Blackhat and Cynic recommended i had a cylinder rebore and a new wiseco piston + a new bearing. Now the problem is that at 7500 rpms there is a rattle (metalic klicking) in the engine in any gear and it starts at the same time, all the time, strange thing is that i had this rattle with the old piston but it was not that loud. I am guessing this rattle comes from the powervalve, but i cant find the cause. I opend the valvesystem and the the piston is not touching the valve as was my first guess + i did grind it to fit the new piston before i assembled the engine. So does anybody have an idea what could it be. Oh and forgot that the rattle starts when there is nee…

I've been looking at moving from a KLR650 to the WR250r and was wondering if anyone else has made such a move from a big heavy dual sport bike to a lighter dual sport bike. I enjoy trail riding. The KLR is capable of doing this, but I'm always very cautious where I take the bike because of its heavy weight (approx. 500lbs with my set up) and when the bike does tip over you can imagine it's always a scare thing since I always am traveling alone to get the bike back up. I know the wr250r is a lighter bike, people I have read about who use it as such a trail bike seem to really enjoy the bike. I hate that the gas tank is so small, since I currently will ride about 150 t…
