The DT (175mx) has had a rebuild, (crank, piston etc) and ran fine for about half hour then lost power a bit and struggled to accelerate, I ran it like that for a few minutes so don't think it was mechanical, seizing etc. Anyway, checked the plug, OK, so had it out today (20mins) and it ran fine! So although the carb floods a bit I don't think it was that cos I ran it with the tap off to see if it would clear and it made no difference. So , can the coil breakdown when hot and cause similar symptoms ? I've checked the resistance values and they match the spares I have but obviously it's cold now so not sure how to check, any clues good people, Dave

evening all, just after a little info on the footpegs on a dt125r, i know it may seem a bit anal and over the top but i have found some footpeg rubbers(not the pillion ones) for sale on a website but they are quite expensive so was wondering if all dt125 front footpegs are the same size as the advert states they will fit a DT125re and Dt125dx 04-07 ?, for the record my dt is a 52 plate 125r and the footpeg measures 80mm long and 30mm wide and has a 6mm fixing hole to secure the rubber, thanks

Hi everyone. hope I'm posting this in the right place. Ive built a DTR 125 and completed the mechanical side but struggling to do the electrics. I want it for off road use and need to understand the components I need so it runs and I am unsure what to do with the YPS. Could anyone help please? kind regards Aaron

First off hello everyone new to the forum got a problem with my sons 2000 model dtr125 here goes noticed a lot of blowby on standard piston when fitting a dep pipe, whipped the top end off and sent to pjme for a rebore new piston and a shave of the power valve as its now going to be 2.00 oversize got the parts back checked the ring end gaps etc all bang on put it together checked its turning free then tried to start it and 6 kicks later very erratic idles like the slide is stuck slightly open then tried to stall then Rev up again, I killed the bike took the plug out turned the kickstart quite hard and notice a metal to metal knock now the piston box is…

Hi,just deristricted my 125re with the speedo trick goes 20 mph quicker now,however it's a bugger to start in the mornings 4 or 5 times before it starts,just put a brand new plug in it, decoked the exhaust and put some new quality 2 stroke oil in it,its garaged, any ideas?

Hello all never used a forum for advice before but this bike is getting on my nerves I have a dt125r 2003 I recently bought as a non runner, I rebuilt the engine all new seals and bearing and gaskets. The bike will run fine with the choke out but as soon as I take the choke off it won't tick over or even Rev! I have had the carb striped and cleaned (all fine). Reed block and reeds are fine. New piston and rings (barrel is fine) compression is good anyone had this problem before? Many infomation would be helpful thanks

Hey Guys, So I got the Zeta Armor Handguards for Christmas and excited as I was, I couldn't wait to install them. So now I'm sitting here today trying to install these things. But now there is a problem. In my barend there is something glued or welded in where the screw for the handguards needs to go. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? Yours MCHenny

I can find the two large bearings on yambits but can't find the smaller needle rollers anywhere, I could maybe knock them out and measure but not sure if I would be buying the exact right size etc, has anyone ever replaced theirs ? Dave,

Cheers everyone for your help found the speedo wire this morn earthed it to the rad bolts took it out for a spin round the forest roads 80 mph! Can't believe it's just a simple wire was gonna mess around with the ypvs but don't need to now.just gotta get a dep pipe now awesome.

Hi,I've had a dt 125 re for about 6 weeks totally original only 9k,problem is only does 50 mph on the flat.i think previous owner just used for commuting never been booted,will it go faster with deep system on,also had a look for this loose wire by the speedo can't find it what colour is it.pls help.

I love the sound of my bike but it isn't very loud compared to other two strokes I have heard, it seems to get drowned out by other vehicles very easily. I am thinking about shortening the silencer but I'm a bit worried that I will lose bottom end power especially as the dt doesn't have much anyway. Would it be alright if I shortened it about 4 inches or so? Has anyone done it to their bikes? The bike has a full DEP system. Cheers

Hi I am looking at buying a dt 125 r 2003 and was wondering if I have to change the main jet in the carb if I'm de-restricting by earthing the servo and getting a dep expansion pipe and silencer ?? If so what jet size would I need ?? Thanks in advance

Here's the story . Mate likes bikes , has a mint FZR250 , but he's 6'4'' and 15 st. He arrives home (dunno how it made it ) on a badly cared for XTZ750ST which , through many mechanical interventions by me ,and much to my surprise , he hacked around on for the last few years . Anyway , the poor old XTZ recently shit a plank on the motorway . He got it vanned home and it was pronounced dead by yours truly the next day . Nice one ! I thought , no more fixing that horrible fecking thing ! He'll buy himself a more modern/reliable bike and I can relax . I mean everything on the old bike was shagged . But not so fast ! hi, I'm using a flat slide mikuni from tdr 125 for another bike, and cannot be sure which pipe connector on the carb is the oil feed. there is a small nozzle near the rear of the carb next to the intake, that I thought might be an air bleed, but it could be the oil feed. I cannot see any other connection that could be it. does the oil feed on the tdr engine enter the crankcase someplace else?? any help appreciated. cheers les

evening guys im having a problem with my dt 2003 i turn the ignition on the N light will work and indicators but headlight wont unless the bike is running but if i stop reving the headlight dies also when i brake.do i need a new Rectifier?? thanks for the help

Hi all of a sudden after 4or 5 kickstarts bike makes a shorting noise, have checked fuses OK, checked wiring OK , Plug is sparking OK can smell smoke when it happens but can not find where its coming from so frustrating , just wondering if anybaody has had a similar problem. The only thing i have taken off is a strange plastic tube near battery that had a live and neatral going to it neutral was detached so removed and taped up wires independently , the tube was not attached to anthing and just hung near battery ( wondered if it was a bulb fitting for a light) any help appreciated.Cheers .
