Hi, I'm for Queensland University of Technology in Australia, we are currently building a FSAE race car using a 2004 YZF-R6 engine. We are trying to source a new ingnition system for this car, as we are unable to use the factory CDI system that came with the engine due to our custom ECU that doesn't support CDI. We are currently running an automotive system (Dual Coil, Wasted Spark) but, its producing a lot of noise, and is having problems with the duty cycles on high RPM. After a little research into possible replacement inductive systems, I found out about the TCI system in the 2006 R6. I'm just trying to find out a little more about the technical aspects of th…

My daughter has an Aerox 100 which she has had from new for 5 years. What is the standard setting for the needle and the mixture screw please as I have been able to acheive a fine balance? The bike either bogs on take off then goes like a rocket with the mixture screw set to give smoothest running on tick over or ticks over less smoothly doesn't bog as much nor pull as well with the mixture screw almost in. Would like to know the recommendations for setting up. Thanks

I just bought this 1987 fz600 from a friend for 300 bucks, but now im having problems with getting it running right, it was stored in a garage for like 6 to 9 months before i got it. i got a new battery for it and new plugs and wires, flushed the tank and put premium in it. it started up and ran good, than i took it for a ride and it wont go any higher than like 6-7k its like it has a fuel cut and just bogs down. so im wondering if its the carbs that need rebuilt or what i cleaned them and no luck after that. any help would be appreciated jesse

The bike has not been running right for some time now, I paid to have the carbs tanked and adjusted and it ran better but not right. I have also messed with them and still no better. They don't seem to respond to adjustments like they did a few years ago. Symptoms: Won't idle below 2K RPM Starts ok, might even idle for the first few minutes Won't idle after warming up Runs ok above 2K, snaps clean anywhere above 2K (not smoth like it used to) Carbs are clean (jets very clean) Used to run real strong, clean A number of years ago I balanced the carbs and idle, easy job Now doesn't run good enough, vacuum jumps all over the place Slight poping sound appears throu…

My 2000 Wplate R6 is getting close to the 14000 mile service. i was wondering if anybody could tell me what this service involves and how much it costs. I assume they dont just do plugs and filters etc on this one? Or am i wrong? Any help would be greatly appriciated. Cheers all Hockeyboy

Ive got a R1- 03 model , i suspect after checking the timing chain the adjuster is not doing its job automatic , The chain has lots of play in it , ive stripped off plastic's , tank and air box to try and get to the adjuster, It seems to be stuck right behind the chassis where i cant get to it ....i think dropping the engine out is a bit beyond me , any idea's ....anyone had to change one of these adjusters before One miserable bikeless babe !! lol

short synopsis: Recently acquired 1992 YZF 600 hard to describe chugging or jerking during 1st and 2nd gear When i purchased the bike, it's owner said that because of a stage 3 kit, it runs a little lean in 1st and 2nd. When i'm driving at low speeds it chugs or jerks a little violently. What could be causing this and how do i fix it? Please help!!

Anyone else get this...........I don't ride in the wet, headlights are always on and yet I still get condensation in the lower corners of the headlights, even after returning from a 150 mile ride on Easter Monday when the outside temp was about 13 degrees! Do I have grounds for a warranty claim or is it normal

i am posting this query on behalf of a french friend who is busy trying to restore a rare 350 tt. unfortunately my knowledge of bikes isnt great, he cant use the internet and we have a translation problem! none the less i gather the problem he has is that he cannot identify the mark used to set the timing/distribution and cannot get hold of an instruction manual to tell him. he is a trained mechanic and i think has looked in the obvious places. can anyone help?
