Can anyone tell me the Valve clearances for a 1981 xs 250. I am new to the bike scene (L-plater) and the XS250 i bought is making a bit of noise from the valves. Just wanting to make sure they are where they are supposed to be. Most of the noise is coming from the Exhaust side of the head.

I have a new air box for my 1977SX750 and can't figure out how to install the stock air box.. I just can't get it to fit through the frame, what the hell am I missing here?

Hi im new to my yamaha just got it used obviously =). It makes a rattling noise by the transmission/front sprocket when I'm drifting to a stop and put the transmission in First gear. The noise only happens when the clutch lever is pulled in and in frist gear, im rolling or drifting as well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks

New rider, I have a 600 genesis that will not start, it backfires only. the engine is turning over. Ran fine before I went offshore but my mate could not get it to start on my return. It has been suggested that it is just damp on ignition system and plugs. Any ideas would be appreciated. Mark

my tzr 125 r belgarda import which i bought from a breakers has no engine numbers or block for numbers or any sign of tamperin. the log book says engine numbers unknown.does any one know if this is because its a import or are there other places the numbers could be apart from the usual. < _<

Hi, I'm trying to remove a stuck bolt from my SR 125 (See my other thread..). However I figure once I remove it there's no way I'll be able to re-use it. So I've been trying to see if I can source a replacement. I've contacted a few breakers, etc. and done plenty of searching of parts websites. I've also run across a couple of sites just selling various bolts. So I'm wondering if I can just find an equivalent bolt from Pro-Bolts or someone and if I can just use that, instead of sourcing a brand new bolt or finally finding one from a breakers. How can I find out what sort of bolt I'm after? Is there a parts list I can look at online or anything? I've only got th…

hey guys i wonder if any of you guys can help me out, i cant seem to get my bike to idle, its a 98 dtr,its got a standard carb as far as i know, i just cant get it to idle at all, iv got the idle screw adjusted fully in but this dosnt seem to affect any thing at all the air screw is set at 1 and 1/2 turns out and the needle jet on the middle clip...once started it runs and drives fine but cuts out if i let go the throttle... could the coil affect this at all? the manual says the spark should be a big fat blue spark but mine is more a wee thin spark?!?! any help would be great cheers

On starting my '98 Fazer FZS 600 , the fuel pump ticks 3 or 4 times establishing fuel & pressure then starts OK. Though intermittently of late on starting, the fuel pump ticks fast for say 20 seconds then stops and the bike will not start, I assume its not establishing pressure. Help any ideas?

hi, everyone. I was hoping someone could help me solve a mysterious problem that has had mechanics all round the country scratching their heads! I have had a problem with my clutch! I have a 2002 yzf r1 with only 10,000 on the clock and i have a difficulties changing gear when she's cold. She wont let me put it in to first gear without stalling. Not any problems when going up the gears. I have had the plates out and had them looked at by 3 Yamaha approved mechanics(no names mentioned eh ) but they can't see anything physically wrong with it! . Please help Please!!!

Can someone advise me. I looking at selling my '99 track R1 and changing to a '03 R1. a mate has the bike that i want but it has '99 forks fitted. I have found a pair of '03 forks to fit and would like to know if the '99 front wheel and brake calipers will go onto the '03 forks. If anyone would be so kind to help.

Hi, I'am trying to convert my xt250 (80-83 import) wiring loom and turn the bike into a moto x, but i don't know how. All i need is power to the spark plug and a engine cut off switch on the handlebars, how do i do that by using parts of the old loom. Can anybody help me I'am going mad!!

Hi, I have an new R1 and due to a recent left wrist injury, I find that after a few miles my wrist becomes painful. I have looked at variable ratio levers, but they are expensive, but one adea was to use the clutch actuating arm (the one by the gearbox casing) from a TDM 850 as it is longer. Could someone who owns an 850 possibly measure the length for me, because if it is longer, then the clutch will be easier to operate. Cheers in advance....................

Hi, Can anyone help me with a slight problem I seem to have created? I have just replaced the chain and sprockets on my XJ600, replaced the sprocket cover, re-connected the shift lever to the shift arm and found to my horror that I cannot select the gears anymore. The best I can do is find first, neutral and second. Any help would be appeciated, thanks.

Hi, I've been having a tinker with the SR125 today, as recently I noticed the exhaust was blowing from roughly where the silencer joins the exhaust pipes. I thought there was a hole around the weld or something like that. However, when looking into it a bit more, there is a small hole but it doesn't look like a rusted hole. Its probably about 2mm in diameter and doesn't look like its there as the result of rust, being perfectly circular. Rather than just plugging it with exhaust gum, I thought I'd ask first, see if there's a reason for it. Have only got the owners manual rather than a workshop manual, so it doesn't really cover it. Hi. At the moment, I've got a C/F micron end can and looking for something with a hell of a lot more roar. I've seen a stubby G-force can but it's a bit too spondoolified (expensive). Any alternatives would be extremely helpful, ta. Cheers guys. Had a look around and checked a few sites and came across an extremely nice guy called Andy from Bradford who owns Zorstec. (in Streetfighters mag). Did me a custom can s/s, stubby, bolt on (with bolts), and clamp all for 140 quid. Waited an hour and it was done there and then!. Brilliant service.

anyone ever use a oil pump block off plate on this model? results? does anyone know if the compression release is a necessity with this model? never messed with either of these mods before, don't even know if the compression release bypass is possible. help?
