Hey everyone, I have gotten my Seca tagged and running and she has been doing ok around the side streets until this weekend. While driving down the road she stalled I got it safely to the side of the road and started checking things I noticed two things 1) no matter how hard I tried she would not go into neutral. 2) on top of this it the side stand switch seemed to be closed no matter whether the stand was up or down. Tonight I pulled the headlight and the seat checked all my connections, pulled the clutch cover checked the neutral switch and all the electrical connections and after manually switching the gears with my hand on the lever to neutral she started fin…

hi i've got a 2006 FZ6 not has it long only a couple of weeks. the battery went flat and i've been having to bump start it, i charged the battery and it started, went for a 60ish mile run, pulled up for a quick cuppa and then wouldn't start again. i'm guessing it may be the alternator or something affecting it being charged when running, also at low revs - 3-4RPM, it is missing slightly when slowing down, this is really annoying as you only really slow down in these sort of rev's when in traffic, any ideas... its booked in for a check at the shop i bought it from just seeing if anyone knows what this could be so i could give them a heads up also the engi…

Hi, having trouble starting my YZF750, sometimes the starter engages but most times now it just spins out. Someone said it could be the sprag clutch? Is it going to be: A. Expensive B. Difficult C. DIY job or bike shop Please help. bl**dy thing stalled at the lights this morning and wouldn't catch, v annoying when you've just filtered past everyone to get to the front. It's a 1994 standard R model, 28K on the clock. Cheers

Hi all, Im trying to fit a new exhaust sytem (motad nexxus XY6D) i just wondered if anyone has knowledge of how easy this was as i am having no end of trouble ! it just doesnt seem to fit at all, i cant get the header pipes to line up (they are about 1" out) and if i do get one to line up, the studs are not long enough to go through the plate and allow the nuts to be screwed on. you might have guessed, ive never fitted an exhaust before ;=) any adivce is welcomed before i get the mallet out and start "adjusting it" Cheers, Russ

Hi everyone, I've just got to the final furlong on my efforts to mend the SR125. (Turns out the major problem was a dropped exhaust valve) So, the top-end rebuild is now complete, valves and cam chain timing set up... i think Today I filled the tank but the fuel just drops straight through my carburetor. When it was disconnected I noticed that it tends to rattle slightly when not still/horizontal. Q.1Is this normal? Thanks. Oh yes one other thing - different subject, Q.2There are three marks on the rotor it looks like this |.....|----| (ignore the full stops they're just spacers but the hyphens represent a continuous line) Would it be correct that…

Hi Just brought 1986 xj 600. Am having a complete nightmare with the wiring! Have brought a manual off flea bay but paypal is also messing around and paid with e cheque so i have to wait for that to clear now too!! grrr I can't get the bike to start have stripped down and fixed the start switch and also shorted the soloneid and it turns over. Have checked the wiring continuity and starter switch and all seems fine. However there is a strange black box (immobiliser??) that has 2 x black red, a blue/white, a pale blue and a black yellow wire going to it. It is very small about 4cm square and 0.5cm deep. When you unplug it you get no lights at all. Please could so…

hi everyone. the indicator relay on my DT keeps a continuous flash until the battery runs out, even with the indicators disconnected (or a bulb blown) it can be heard "ticking" at the same rate. wheras the ones on my jawa will change their rate according to battery condition (if ive got the lights on the indicators sometimes wont flash at all but stay on) and seem to operate on resistance because if a bulb is blown the remaining indicator will not flash but remains on instead. this normal?, no doubt its going to lead to a majour piss-take about my beloved slovak hog

I really needs some HELP. I've had my DT125 for 5 months and only after 3 months during my bike test it started pouring with rain and I begun to get light electric shocks on my fingers every time i touched the front brake or clutch leavers. Now every time it rains hard and i'm riding i get the electric shocks. Seems like there is electricity current on the leavers. The other day it was so painfull i was changing gears with out the clutch and only using back brake. I've now taped up the leaver with guffer tape and it prevents me from getting the electric shocks when it rains. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice? Cheers

Hi Guys I've just stripped the forks on my '78 DT400 because they were stiff and the head bearings needed replacing (- and I'm still having to adjust the 'All Balls' replacement roller kit as the taller top bearing [as original balls only 1/4"], means the triple clamp fouls the bearing locknut). When I disassembled and removed the damper internals the parts discribed as ; No 13 "Cylinder comp" (on the parts diagram) had part No 12 - "Piston" fitted, AFTER the drilled aluminiumc cone, onto the shaft were it was free to slide up and down the "Cylinder Comp". I find I'm unable to assemble the unit, as per the drawing, as the aluminium cone piece, at the end of the "…

hi i have 2 lose wires on the left hand side under the tank on my MT-03 the 2 wires are tape'd togeather and slot in but when i put them togeather they spark so unpluged them straight a way the one lead (red with black) seems to have a fuse atached to it and i carnt see where the other lead goes (just red) i have had a look in the manual and nothing is shown about this lead it does dangle down and looks a bit out of place i know the tank has been removed befor (respraid) so im thinking it was not conected back up when the tank was put back on, all the lights and things work and when the key is switched to the on position all the light on the dash light up and the fu…

hi there im new to the forum but have read loads of ur posts and am sure u guys will be able to help me out with my current situation.me and my dad currently own a 1989 DTR125, and recently the bike has developed the problem of the lights only work whilst the engine is running this is not a major problem but is annoying and we cant figure out wht. But are main problem is that because the light are running off the engine u need to have the revs high for all lights to work. also if u turn the handle bars to the left all lights and instruments seem to disconnect and u are left with nothing including brake lights this has nearly got me ran over twice which u can imagine isnt …

Good morning all, Have any of you any thoughts or experience on tyre selections for a DT175? On road use only, obviously tubed. I am leaning towards Avon Distanzia AM43/44's (Sizes 80/90-21 48S and 4.10-18 60S) but Dunlop Trailmax D604 also look OK. I am guessing that these are both tube and non tube types as, From memory I thought that you can not use tubes in tubeless tyres as the inside of the tyre is rough and tears the tubes. Thanks.

Hi all, I have picked up another petrol tank for the DT. Generally it is in great condition but it has a small crease at the top righthand side. At the moment I am considering 3 options. (Apart from waiting for a better tank to come along) 1 Fill it 2 put a self taper in to pull out what I can, then fill the rest. (I know heat, sparks and fuel do not mix) or glue something to the crease with epoxy and then try and pull it. 3 Try the heat it and then spray co2 or rub with dry ice. I can't plunger it out or beat it out and I would be worried about pressurising the tank given it is old. Has anyone got a better method or advice please? I am not worried about the pa…

Hi guys started having major problems with the beast. Basically she cuts out when slowing down to a stop (when you are at junctions). As i come through the gears it is alright but as soon as i go into first gear and get below 4k rmp all of a sudden the revs go and she cuts out. Yesterday she was difficult to start again but today it was easier. Only difference is a new tank of fuel. Sometimes when moving off from a stand still she is really bubbly aswell. Anyone got any ideas, it is getting bloody annoying and somewhat dangerous as it has cut out in traffic in rush hour. Thanks Robbie
