I have got a ybr 125 and i am currantly running it in and i am wondering weather to use a high octain fuel such as Bp unltimate (97 ron), shell opimax (97 ron) or sansburys own brand super (97 ron). I sort of know the theory behind useing higher octain fuels, the higher the octain the more stable the fuel is so there is less chance of it miss fireing/ pre ignition of the fuel in the cylinder. I was looking on BPs website and they are makeing big claims about there new BP ultimate fuel they say that there is a 3% increase of power on average as well as better MPG and acceleration. I would like to know if any body on this forum has had any experiance with using high…

A bit of a wash out weekend. I am stuck for a couple of day's as I can not get the pivot bolt out of the frame. I did mention this in a different thread but no amount of WD or hitting it with larger and larger hammers is budging it. I have decided to cut it out. To gain access to it the engine is coming out BUT I am still waiting for the big one tail pipe (This has been ongoing since 17 May and I had to return one) but they said Wednesday so I will wait for that, fit it and make sure that it is OK prior to ripping the engine out. I think I can get it off without damaging to frame or swingarm but I will see. With the bike this stripped down this much I may as well sh…

Hi All, My seat lock apears to be jammed on my 06 FZ6. I have been very generous with WD40 and it doesnt even budge. I've been told to apply pressure to the seat where it latches ie in the middle about 5cm from the "bump", but that doesnt seem to work. I've had my largest mate sit on the seat and kneel on the spot where the seat latches and still no joy. the lock wont budge at all. is there anything else I can try ? is there any other way of getting the seat off without the lock? thanks in advance

Hi I've been having a few problems with carbs so cleaned them and stuff, now I'm trying to sort out the fuel levels. The info I've found says between 4.5 and 6.5mm below the line. I've tried this but now I'm having trouble starting the bike and it sounds lean. Is this really the correct fuel level? ~Rachel

When running around town only does this at low speeds 30mph and under and in any gear at about 2500rpm mark the bike starts to go chuggy almost like the chain is slack or like a V-twin in to high a gear its the only time is misbehaves never misses a beat in any other rev or gear does anyone else have the same problem any ideas as to what it is I'm going to balanced the carbs to see if this helps or is this a common thing with them or is there an other possible issue with it thanks. Cheers All

Hi guys, I need to replace my coil as the wire is broken. Im not too sure on the year of my bike. I know its an earlier model ( i think pre '98) as it has the earlier CDI (8 wires? as opposed to 14?), also the YPVS servo has 3 wires, not 5 like the later type. The only markings on the coil are 2JN. My bike has the later engine (2003), the coil is definately the original so im assuming i should stick to an early one. Any help will be great Cheers, Mark

All the lights apart from front side lights and full beam dont work. The horn sometimes worked but the starter button didn't. i changed the battery to see if that would help and all that happened was the starter and horn working properly. i stripped the bike to test all the bulbs and wires and they were fine but the lights still didnt work. The lights that dont work are the rear indicators, brake lights, rear side light and fromt indicators. does any one know what i should do?

Hi All, I've recently been looking into getting somthing a bit more interesting than my current XJ600, and have found a rather tidy TDM 850 going cheap - cheap because one of the big ends has gone. I've already had the pleasure of taking apart my Diversion's engine, and found that it's got "don't take apart yourself!" written all over it. Was hoping someone could shed some light on how 'user-friendly' these 850 engines are for repairs? Cheers Ross

Ok. This is quite an easy, or straight forward question. But this is my first bike, and I haven't had it running yet. Its the electrical thats tripping me up! I have wired up the bike, by using the Haynes Manual. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have a wiring diagram for the exact wiring loom i have, as things should be in block connectors when they aren't. The question is this....I have the electrics running, but the headlight and full beam wont work. The bulbs are fine, and the connectors are in the right place. Will getting the engine going if connectors are in the wrong place do damage to the electrics? Do the electrics work any differently (apart from running brigh…

Hi all, I've got a YBR 125 and on riding home from work today I noticed the light that illuminates the rev counter was not illuminated! The speedo, fuel guage, idiot panel illuminaton are all fine, The rev counter itself still works fine tho. I'ts not a massive problem but it's annoying, I've looked in the owners manual and that diddn't give me any guidance. Is it as simlpe as replacing a bulb in the unit or do I need to replace the rev counter or even the whole instrument cluster? And what do you think it'll cost to have whatever work you thinks needs doing to it @ my Yamaha dealer? Cheers, g_you001

hi all... i'm new here and have an 07 ybr.... fuel injected. everything going alright cept for this afternoon when the engine management light came on and now stays on. have checked pipes, connectors etc and all appears ok on the outset.... cept the idle won't stay constant... it'll drop and cut out. starts fine and i can hold the throttle to keep the revs up but it's only been doing this since the management light came on..... owners manual says take it to yamaha but that = £££ so if anyone has some ideas on what to look at / check first it would be appreciated... battery was flat last week but after a night on an optimate all was fine again.... no probs since besides…
