Hi All, I have been stripping more off the bike today and am going to refurb the carb. Searching through earlier threads I understand that the carb on these is a VM24ss. Are there any refurb kits available for this? There are some specs in earlier threads re the jets, float height and needle position but could someone please confirm what the UK specs are for this year. I have not got as far as taking the carb apart yet as the needle is bent. I can't read the writing on it as it is worn but it looks like mj6. The circlip is in the 4th notch from the bottom. I obviously need one of these. Any advise on where I can order the parts for this. I have looked at cmsnl but …

Hi all, I just got a 2006 YBR125 yesterday and am very happy with it. From what I could gather it has been sitting a while in a gaurage, although the previous owner rode it over to my house yesterday (20+ miles). I have checked most servicable aspects of the bike, but noticed whilst moving the bike around that the front disk brake squeeks a little. If I get the front tyre of the ground, it is quite stiff to turn it around (requires about 50% of my strength to get it to move). I think that the caliper is badly set. Is it possible to loosen it off a bit? I could do with a workshop manual really - where can I get one? The brake light comes on after about 0.75cm…

I had local dealer do tuneup on V-star 1100 classis(2000) last year after sitting fro 2 years. I am now getting gas blowing through the muffler on one side. The engine is running fine and gets warm. Something stuck? Help. Thanks

I have finally found a decent price on a pair of gently used mufflers. My bike ('81 550 Maxim) doesnt presently HAVE mufflers, as the previous owner removed for some reason. Wondering if the '82 650 Maxim mufflers will be compatible with mine?

I've got a 1980 yamaha RS 125 and its totally dead. When i first got it it worked fine but now there doesn't seem to be any life in it at all. I replaced the battery and kicked started it and it sound like it was going to turn over and then after that nothing. I tried bumping it for ages but no luck! I know the bike has got some bad earths and I was thinking about replacing the entire loom as I can get a 2nd hand one on the cheap. As I'm not very clued up with bikes so is there anything I should look for, change etc? Also is the battery 6v? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated? Here's a picture of my bike:

Hi there has any one got any ideas on why my R1 is missfiring. I am a mechanic and have tested the plugs, coil packs, coil pack wiring loom, injectors, injector wiring loom, all seem fine. I got a feeling it has burnt a valve out but just wanted to see if anyone had come across a common fault or a one off fault that I have not checked before I remove the engine and strip it down. Any help would be much appricated.

Hi was riding my bike to day then the wind died down so was realy quiet then could hear this scrape noise so got home and took my helmet off and rode it up and down the drive and the chain is making quite a loud noise like a constant scrape this could just be the chain on the plastic but dident expect it to be that loud, the chain is a bit rusty so could it do with a new one ?? i thikn the owners befor left it out in the rain a cople of times so has some orange stuf on it lol im going to france on it in a cople of weeks and need to know if it could need replacing or just need cleaning then re oilling this is on my MT-03 thanks

hi everyone. i recall seeing a reply (probably in one of my threads regarding rechroming) which mentions filling the pits in forks with araldite and then smoothing it off using fine grades of sandpaper... ... does this actually work?, im quite tempted to try it out on my jawa forks to get it into running condition before i spend any more money on it.

I'm the new owner of a nice 86 radian. When I went to try it out it started like it was brand new. I strapped it to my trailer and drove it home. Now it won't start. It backfired a couple times and now nothing. I pulled the plugs out, they were a bit wet and dirty so I cleaned them and dried them. I tried starting it without plugs to evacuate any fuel but nothing came out. After replacing the plugs it seemed a bit better for the first couple of tries but now I'm back where I started. Based on other posts I am thinking the carbs may need a cleaning but besides that I'm at a lost. Any help on troubleshooting would be great.

I have a tzr 50 and my bike has recently broke down. When I take the bike up to 9000+revs it starts missing a lot which makes it drop 2 or 3 mph which makes a difference since i can only do 50mph. It does it most of the time but recently when it has started cutting out all together and the revs just drop until I stop and after that it is hard to start. the starter motor turns the engine over but it wont start. It will eventually start after 5 mins or so. Can someone help please. I have already changed the spark plug, plug lead, the coil and I have checked and cleaned out the carbuerator and connectors for the coil. I dont know what else to try.

HI TO ALL, I BAUGHT MY WIFE A YAMAHA VIRAGO 125CC GREAT LITTLE BIKE BUT RECENTLY SHE HAS HAD SOME PROBLEMS! WHEN SHE CLUTCHES IT AND PUTS IT INTO FIRST IT CUTS OUT BUT IT CAN START ON A BUMP AND GO IN SECOND! I HAVE STRIPPED THE CLUTCH AND GAVE IT A GOOD CLEAN BUT NONE OF THE PLATES SEEM TO BE STICKING I HAVE ALSO ADJUSTED THE CLUTCH BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK I EVEN REPLACE THE CABLE ! CAN ANY ONE HELP AND GIVE ME A FEW IDEAS?? CHEERS

Hi all, not sure if this is right place to post this but i'm sure someone will put me straight if its not, can anyone tell me the best sort of top box to put on my yb100, i've decided to go for practicality over looks and as i need to use the bike every day i thought it would be easier than keep wearing a backpack, i have a luggage rack on the bike but with so many on the market i was hoping to get some ideas on cheapest and most secure etc, cheers alec

Hi all, I need to get a new exhaust. Both parts but I am interested in the expansion part. The one I have has been welded near where it meets the cylinder but seems to have been welded at the wrong angle. I have read that this is a common place for it to break. Having a good search for previous threads on the forum It has been said that the DT125MX exhaust is the same. I can old find "big one" systems. Are there any others I can look at? Also the "big ones" seem to be designed to slip into the fitting on the cylinder. I am guessing that the bracket that fits to the exhaust port slides over the pipe and then a copper gasket fits tightly over the end of the end of the pi…

I need to remove the fork bottoms on my r1 1998 4xv forks. There appears to be a screw on each leg but i'm not sure if i need a special tool, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tony

Hi all, I've bought a replacement engine for my J reg SR 125 which I'm going to recondition and then swap over during the next couple of months - the replacement is one that has done about 10k. If anyone has any pointers or advice to give me at an early stage I'd appreciate it - at the moment I'm full of enthusiasm but don't want to do anything stupid in the first 5 minutes! The job therefore is: Recondition replacement engine, fit new gaskets etc. Remove old engine Fit replacement engine Any advice, however small is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, New member here. In the middle of a 1967 YR1 engine rebuild. I have pressed the crankshaft apart and I am now on the hunt for replacement parts.... Does anyone know of any reasonable sources for parts? Hoping to cross reference the Koyo bearings if possible. I know the con-rod journals are shot, and probably the connecting rods....
