Hello everyone Please excuse my first post here being a request for a massive favour. Short story is: I would be very grateful if someone could *accurately* measure the length of all 3 brake lines (2 x front, 1 x rear) on the same model as mine (fzr 400 exup 1989 1wg 3en) or a model known to use identical length lines. This is so I can order the correct length of lines through the goodridge line builder service. It is purely the length of the line itself that I am interested in ie that which lies between the banjo bolts (factoring in a few mm for where it dissapears into the banjo bolt). If someone already has goodrige braided lines that w…

  4. Hi, I usually have the fuel tap in the "on" position, but when I run out of fuel and switch to "res" the bike won't start. I have been using the prime position but that has no effect either. It seems as though there is actually no fuel left. Has anyone else had this problem, or know how to fix it? Thanks

Hi all am newbie so please excuse. Went to look at a second hand r125 today and noticed that the number plate was alot higher from the rear wheel than originally sold in the shop. The number plate is the original and I was wondering if there are any mods to the rear of the bike that do this as he said it is standard. Many thanks.

Howdy gang, I realize this isn't ideal, but I just "inherited" a 96 YZF600R (traded my boat for it), and the guy who owned it previously said the fork seals needed to be replaced. One piece of 35mm film later, the leaking has stopped -- but I have no idea how long they were leaking for, so here's my question: What's the MINIMUM amount of work I can do to check the fork oil level? All the manuals and searches only give me advice about filling once they're off and apart -- any way to avoid this? I would just like to run it around town a few times to see if there are other problems before I start ripping it apart... I've read the 124mm-from-the-top stuff, whic…

  10. Hi I've got a Yzf 750 1993, it's got a blown head gasket, burns oil and has low oil pressure. So I wacked another engine in today from a 96. It's got the 1993 engines carbs and ignition. It turns over, but does not attempt to fire or start. The last engine run fine. Any suggestions? Are there any differences between a 93 & 96 engine? Ignition timing? Please help

got a bit of a problem, and i cant post this in the wanted section because im not a paying member (i was going to get around to it, honest!). anyhoo, coming through town today i noticed my gear lever wasn't centering when i changed gear, and after a short while it didnt change at all, i managed to get it home and on further inspection revealed that the splines had worn down with only the innermost splines remaining. so... does anyone have a spare gearchange shaft for a DT50MX they could donate or sell to me cheap? i've filed down the gear lever to allow the bolt to clamp it tighter on to the shaft and that should get me to RAF Halton on thursday but i dont know …

I'm currently riding a XT660X for the fun of it, but I'd like to change the excel spoked rims for some mags. Is there anybody technically minded out there who can tell me if it's going to be a ball ache? And if not, give me some pointers. I've seen marsesini rims (however it's spelt) but for over a grand I think these are out of the question. Cheers in advance.....

  14. Im having problems with my Yamaha Dt 125 Re 2005 model not running smoothly and wanting some help on what it could be. Basically yesterday we took off the carburettor and cleaned it allout, also we were up by the speedo cables changing the headlight bulbs. Now its all back together although the bike is not running well at all. The powervalve system wont even work as the revs wont even go high enough for the powervavle to kick in. As i dont have a rev meter i dont no how high exactly they go although the bike struggles to get to 50mph. Before we took all the a#carburettor off the bike ran wellbut always needed choke to start, hence we cleaned out the carb and that. A…

SO about two months ago, my bike, a 1976 xs 360, broke down and my battery showed almost no charge. The battery was fairly new, but I didn't rule it out as a possible problem. My friend Jon had told me that the trickle charge that exists via the stator/regulator/rectifier may be out of wack, but that the stator going on a 36 year old bike with 26000 miles on it was unlikely. We replaced the battery with a brand new one which seemingly fixed the problem but all I ended up doing was wasting 50 bucks for a spare battery I didn't need. Does anyone know what would be the most probable reason for that trickle charge to not be occurring. I'm looking for a cheap, easy fix on this…

So my first attempt to change my oil filter failed when under minimal effort i managed to destroy the heads of the screws holding the filter cover in place on my SR125. I mean how soft are these things?! The screwdriver managed to bore a big hole where there was once a screw head. Whats the best way to remove them now? Is it always this easy to destroy these screws or did the last guy just overtighten them? Anyway, oil change is done at least the bike isn't sidelined, bloody annoying though!

Hi guys sorry if this is a simple thing but my chain seems to be popping of the teeth at the bottom of the rear sprocket when i move the bike backwards doesnt do this when moving forwards or riding. I have adjusted the chain which seems fine looks like the chain links are sitting too close to the back of the tooth in front as the chain lets go as i move back wards any ideas. cheers

  20. If unbalanced or dirty (or both) carbs (there are 4 on this bike) could make the bike run really bad, flood easily, not start at all, idle at very high rpms, or rpms don't drop when the throttle is in idle position.
