I am restoring an XT550, which has a dry sump and the oil tank in the frame. I need to paint the frame, and previously had bikes plastic coated, but am worried that sand blasting before coating will get in the frame and hence into the oil. Has anyone successfully blasted/plastic coated a similar frame, or if not can recommend a red colour paint to paint it with instead? Thanks Nick

I have recently got a 2004 R6 track bike and I want to get some spare wheels but I'm not sure as to which ones will be compatible. The current wheels are 5 spoke (non upside down forks) and I would like to know if the earlier 3 spoke wheels will fit straight on or indeed if my bike should have 3 spoke and the previous owner has put 5 spoke on it. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks John

Hi i am new to this so please help me, i just recently bought a Yamaha 650 v star, on my way home from driving it bout 2hrs the bike went completely dead i had to jump start it just to get it home, i bought a charger and let it fully charge overnight, the charge only lasted 2 days, i just recently purchased a new battery and with a new battery it will only run about 3-4 days and then theres not enough juice to turn it over, i have checked the voltage reading while running and revved a bit, it reads anywhere from 13-14, is this normal for a bike to have to charge it every few days or do i need to look at other options here, i do have another older honda 400 and have never …

Hi everybody,Im new here, even though Im very active member on viragothech forum, I never been here before. So it's best thing to start with something interesting wich is modification of Virago 125, and making it into Virago XV 180 According to many people I had chance to talk, all you need is 180cc kit wich includes : cylinders ,pistons, cylinder head, rings etc. Found some parts here: http://www.bike-teile.de/index.php?seite=e...p;teilid=598024 And according to some people who done this mod, all what I need is to remove old cylinders and place new ones, without drilling into engine block. Anyone done this? I would like to hear your advice and i…

It is important that a two stroke engine is pressure tight and to check my DT175MX I made a a test rig and did some testing today. This is the test rig I made, it fits nicely in the inlet manifold where the reed valve is, So I removed the silencer and blocked off the exhaust using the original connecting rubber from exaust to silencer, I bunged the end up using a copper piping stop end. and then fitted the test rig into the manifold and pumped the engine and exhaust to 10 psi And bugger...it leaks so the only place I can test is the right hand crank seal, to test this one put the engine breather pipe in some water No bubbles h…

Ok so im doing a top end rebuild of a Dt125 1986 lc. The 2 piston rings i have are exactly the same, aside from th fact that one is slightly thicker. like inside the brackets ( O O ) The only markings on them are 150 and R. Neither of the rings are chamfered. The ends between the end gaps are exaclty the same. The piston ring make is Riken. I am at a loss, anyone used these rings before and could shed some light would become my hero Thanks Andy

hi everyone. been having some overheating issues with my DT, its running a cone style air filter, BigOne exhaust, racing reeds and a 60cc bore kit on the original 50cc head, increased the oil pump flow rate and the carb is running a 115# main jet, but over long distances (well, anything much over 15-20 miles or running for more than 30 minutes/1 hour) the power will suddenly fade and eventually the engine cuts, it doesnt seise but the heat can be felt (and smelt) when you are sat on the bike. whats causing it to overheat and how can i fix the problem?, regards Steve-o

Can i ask a general question? I am trying to drain the bottom tank on a 1990 xv535 The drain plug wont budge, if i disconnect the hose from the carburettor that is attached to the fuel pump, and apply a constant 12volt source across the fuel pump, will the pump continuously pump out the fuel, or will it act as normal and work for five seconds before it shuts off? Thanks Mark.

the sound is really high pitched when the bike is started but when you change gear it goes untill you proceed higher in revs it sounds like it is some sort of bearings somwhere but the noise to me sounds like it comes from the front of the engine. I thought it could be the chain as well but it is much louder than that, it is as if a bolt is rattleing around in the gears, also the gears are a little stiffer. Any suggestions or help would be appriciated as i am a noob when it comes to engine.

Hi there, the other day i was given a yamaha bw's off my aunt and unle as there were getting rid of it because it isn't starting. I've taken a look at it and from what i can see it needs quite a bit of work, it has quite a few cracks on the bodywork, it needs a good clean, new exhaust, new throttle cable and the major problem is that it won't start. Im almost certain that this is because of the spark plug or the battery (which i think is dead). I will recharge this at some point and fill it with electrlyte ( do they need refilling?) and the spark plug where is it? Although i maybe wrong about my judgement, it won't turn on electrically and when i kick start it tries to t…

I have just paid £160 to have my bike serviced from the main dealer. When you look at the breakdown on the bill I paid £118 just in labour... It was it's 3500 mile service. How can they justify that!!!!!!
