I have a DT125LC mk 2, which I am in the process of restoring. Its on a 'C' / 1985/6 plate. It is the 1st DT model to come with the power valve blank, but without the servo etc. I understand from my local dealer who is quite knowledgeable on early Yamaha's that the UK did not receive the full power versions BUT that at the time a kit was available to enable the powervalve, and came with the servo & cables etc. Appreciate that the bike is now close to 25 years old, and that anything like this is likely to be long gone. However, I recently purchased some new old stock panels from a retired Yamaha Dealer, and we got onto this subject, and he told me that the …

Hi All have had my reeds fracture so brought the only reeds the local shop had. these are boydon raceing reeds,(looks like they have had these sitting around for a while) does anyone know how much these change the engine with regard to the oil delivery system. ( i take it with the more petrol going in the more oil it will need) the carb has already been up jetted in the past + filter , dont want it for speed , just to keep her running for work ( engine ty50mx 1980 fitted in dt50mx frame and running gear). cheers nigel

hi all, new to this site, recently purchased a 1988 rxs 100 after passing my cbt, it needed a few things doing but was told it was a runner, however, won't start off the kick. its got good spark and compression. tried to bump start but just made angry growling noises, took the spark out and it was dry as a bone, poured some petrol down the spark plug whole, refited the spark plug and tried to bump her again, this time fired up but then quickly died, tried the same again several times, came to the conclusion that it must have blocked jets in the carb. so stripped down the carb, checked all the jets and needles, all seem ok and in good condition. re-asembled the carb, set…

I have just laid the bike up for the winter and have about 3 pints of petrol left in the tank, from some of the other comments that I have read it seems that there is a case for leaving some fuel in the tank and for emptying it, so which is best? I was always thought that some fuel in the tank kept the seals and rubbers in good condition but having seen some of the horrible gunk that some peeps have in their tank after leaving it for a while I'm not so sure now, is it some thing to do with the amount of ethanol that is now in fuel or just crap fuel that we get here, any advise would be appreciated as I do not want to find in 6 months that the whole fuel system needs to be…

No not me (yet) Having so far been unable to source a service manual for my XJ750, can someone tell me how to check the oil level please. I have unscrewed the cover but there is no dipstck attached. From what i can see, this is the norm, so how is the level checked? The engine seems quite hot after only a few minutes running so i have decided not to fire her up again till I have checked the level or maybe even changed the oil and filter.

Hi there guys (and gals, of course!) I'm a newbie to this Yamaha forum and lovin it already! - Wondered if I can ask my fellow Yam owners for some help? I have a 96 (p) Yamaha YZF750R (uk bike) and I love it - just the right height & everything for me - I want more power but can bear to part with the bike and dont really wanna spend fortunes on tuning for very small bhp gains. I've heard that a Thunderace 1000 engine will go "straight in"? I appreciate that this may be mega old news for most of u guys and prob be asked 100 times before - but has anyone actually done this mod? What about things like the following : Wiring loom Exhaust manifold cooling system Airbo…

HI everyone! I would like to ask regarding DT 125 Reed Valve. Is reed valve should totally closed upon inspection? I noticed mine has a gap of about 1 mm, all four petals, though they are correctly installed. Next, can this gap cause combustion leaks? And finally, Can this gap affect my idle? Thanks

Hi all, first time poster here, hoping the good people of the owners club can help me with my problem. I bought my first bike 3 weeks ago. Its an '11 YBR 125. The bike has 200 miles on it I have two questions. Sometimes it is really hard to get the bike into neutral. It either skips neutral and jumps to 2nd or says its in neutral (Light comes on) but jerks forward if I release the clutch. Is this something to worry about? If it is a problem, how do I fix it? Will it go away with more miles? My second question is After I turn the bike off, I hear clicking coming from the engine What is it? Much love to anyone that helps and any…

Hi guys, Just wondering if someone could please help. I've got a new 2010 YBR125 and have only done 50 odd miles on it. Its suddenly developed a squeaking noise when I go above around 25-30mph. It sounds like a sort of mouse squeak! - like, ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee and it gets faster as the bike speeds up. Just wondering if anyone might have any ideas on what could be causing it? Obviously the bike is under warranty but the dealer is quite a hike, so just wondered (and hoped) it might be something simple that I could sort out myself with a bit of grease or WD40! Any ideas? thanks in advance! scottylad

after a lot of probs i've had decided to post this up to hopefully help anyone with similar probs (copied from american web site,i have a copy in pdf if anyone wants me to e-mail it to them) Bike Battery Charging Problems - Troubleshooting & Fixing This procedure can help you find out why your bike battery does not charge correctly, and help you to fix that. This assumes that your bike has a permanent magnet 3 phase generator, a standard thyristor shunt type regulator rectifier (RR unit), and a 12Volt battery. You will need simple workshop tools including a multimeter with clips or an AVO, bits of wire and crimp terminals, a headlamp bulb and a solderi…
