  2. Hi there hope this is in the correct section of the site to put this... Having a nightmare trying to get to the root cause of why this bike will not start and needing a point in the right direction from someone to establish what to try next… It's been sitting in the garage and I have taken a notion to get it back on the road. To give a brief history the Bike is a 1985 DT125LC with 1 previous owner (I bought it from the previous owner in 1986 and I have owned it since then) that has covered just under 7K miles and has been unused and kept in the garage unmoved other than the occasional push about to get to something in the garage since circa 1988, it was stripped…

Hi all I am about to strip a spare engine and am thinking of a re-con. Is replacing the internal seals in the engine a specialist job or can I diy it with care? I am thinking this because of advice regarding 2 srokes sitting for too long and the seals failing once started and warmed up. Is this true? Cheers Geo

  4. I recently had an indecent where my R6 just lost power. I stripped the engine out to find that one of the sleeves collapsed. Spoke to someone that used to work for the agents and he said if it was stressed or ran hot it would be the cause. This has somewhat put me off Yamaha... or maybe i just bought a dudd. Any way.. would anyone know where i can find a secondhand engine ? Here in South Africa i paid R 30 000 for the bike and the agents want R 28 500 for a sub assembly... Any help would be appreciated. Hi so this is my first bike and it's a 2008 fuel injection model I bought it about two weeks ago but having been so snowed under with work I've barely touched it whilst I've waited for the registration papers to go through with the DVLA so I could put a new tax disc on it so its been sat outside under a cover for about two weeks in the cold untouched. When it came it had effectively no fuel inside it and I couldn't get it to start and never bothered to refuel it until today as I wouldn't be able to legally drive it without tax anyway. So today I finally got my tax disc and poured in some fuel from a fuel can, I used the electric start and it started with the second push, …

I would like to swap my clocks over to MPH fro KMH Is it a straight swap when i can lay my hands on some, or is it a change of speedo drive too? Can i dismantle the clock assembly and just swap the speedo mechanism. This is preferred so that i can keep the clock that is in the XJ900 console but not in the 600 console.

Recently bought a power valve servo, pulley housing, pulley and cables, so I can change my set up from a manually pinned non servo set up, to a servo run powervalve assembly, I noticed that one of the cables is just starting to fray at one end,and needs replacing, whilst looking through the parts list, so as to get the correct cable, as one is 220mm, and the other 240mm, noticed there is a difference in the two types of powervalve assemblies. Originally I was under the impression, I just had to take the cover off mine, replace that with the pulley housing, attach the pulley on to the end of the power valve, set up the cables to the power valve, put the end cover back on…

hey again, sorry to bug you all, i got my sr125 working, also got a new 16 tooth sprocket on the front, but it still won't go any faster than before. the rh panel did have holes drilled in, so i thought it may be running a bit lean. i was going along a straight, it was not accelerating past 50 so i covered one of the holes with my left hand and it started going faster (up to 62 before the corner came along). i covered the holes, and now it still doesn't go faster. annoying. it revs freely sometimes, but the rest of the time it feels like there's a limiter lower in the rev range that shouldn't be there. when it revs freely i'll get 30mph in 1st, 40mph in 2nd, then i'm us…

Can anyone help us with a problem on my son's 2005 DT125RE. There is no ignition spark at the spark plug when turning the engine over with the electric start and then a weak spark appears as the electric start is released. We tried a new spark plug, cap and ignition coil with no change. Further checking though the workshop manual and the source coil resistance should be around 300ohms but is giving a resistance of 32,600ohms! So that looks to be the poblem. We have tested from the plug on the wiring loom but there are no instructions in the workshop manual on how to access the coil - it looks to be located in the magneto. Can anyone tell us how to access t…

hi all and thankyou for reading... ive just bought a 50cc 2003 aerox that has been of the road since 2004. filled the header tank up which took barley anything, i thought as i was filling it the coolant would go through the pipes but it never just filled the tank. road it today and the temp light came on, all pipes are hot but water in the tank isnt hot at all. could the pump be nackerd or just an airlock? and is there a bleed valve on the head? PLEASE HELP!!

  15. hi guys i have a yamaha aerox 2003 100cc, the bike will only do 20mph at 6,000 revs.i have no idea why i have changed the rollers, belt clutch and carb. and it is still doing the same thing. the bike normally does 60mph.i have changed the exhaust to a viper exhauset tooo. please help thanks

  16. Hi everyone! Its been bugging me for a while now and hopefully this will get it sorted. My question is, does exhaust packing (the fiber glass stuff in the tail can) make any difference to performance, is it best to have it in or not and would an upjet or something be required if removed, or is it just purely a noise reducer?

  17. Hi guys, I've owned a 1984 yamaha srx250 for nearly 3 years. Had the top end rebuilt and a new piston put in when I first got it to get it on the street. 3 years later my garage got flooded with the bike inside. I actually have two and using the spare engine got it back on the road but the original engine had some bad vibration issues when it was last running. I'm planning to rebuild it completely, replace all the internal bearings, oil seals and gaskets. If anyone has any advice about where to source internal parts from and just general things about rebuilding that'd be great since this is my first rebuild. Cheers

hi folks, help needed just stripped and cleaned carbs after bike bn sitting for yrs starts great now, but petrol is coming out of overflow pipes is this down to float needle or what???

  20. I sure hope that everyone can voice their opinions about the topic at hand. My setup is as follows: Gearbox standard, front sprocket =15t and rear sprocket=47t. New carb with standard jetting and K&N air filter. Boyesens reeds. New OEM piston & rings. BR8EIX spark plug. Standard exhaust & tailpipe. The bike starts fine and rides with a lot of torque in lower gears. But when riding up to 5th gear, the revs pick up nicely and goes 8000+, yet when changing to 6th gear, the revs drop to 4500 with WOT and speed drops progressively as well. When in top gear going at WOT there seems to be a willingness to go faster but it feels like brakes is applied, going a…
