I know there is some people on here that have put a Honda based 140cc or 150cc engine into the bike. I just want to know if i could see some pictures of the engine mount modifications? I have a Honda 50cc auto engine, I want to put in my Yamaha Chappy that I got years ago. I now finally want to start the project (now I have the money).

Hi All, Anyone with more Yam expertise than me know of any other model bikes that has front forks that will fit in a 1990 XJ600 Pre Diversion? Or failing that what yokes I could get away with putting on the frameto house a set of new forks. The reason being, the forks that I have now a pitted like a bar-steward and the more I look into the re chroming idea, the my wallet recoils in fear. Cheers..

  3. Hi Guys, I'm new here but have found some really helpful things while I browsed over. I got my YBR last week, no problems, running like a charm. This is my first bike, and only really started riding the day before I got it. (CBT) The only problem I have right now is my headlight. When I got it, it was working, I've not dropped or crashed it but now, it won't work!!! When I turn the ignition on (Key to on position, NOT starting it) the parking light (Small bulb) comes on. When I start the bike (Elec start) the headlight is supposed to come one, but mine isn't! When I flick to high beam, nothing, no light on the dash to notify of it either. I have re…

I am replacing the left side cover (Magneto Cover) on my 76 DT175. The original was cracked. I found a replacement,(PN- 1X0-15411-00-00) but it does not have the vent on the top. instead there is a small drain at the bottom. The cover fits... but do I need one with the vent on the Top? Thanks...

Hi all, I introduced myself a while back and was trying to get a SR250 running again. Well, said bike is back together and running. My problem is, the damned thing will not start without some serious coaxing (hooking it up to an extra battery, pouring fuel straight into the head ect) I think the choke is not working,(If you pull it out once the bike is warm it doesn't make any difference, surely the bike should stall?) but when I removed it, it seems a simple thing that you just have to ensure that its not blocked. Am I missing something? If anybody knows how it works I would appreciate it. Failing that, the ignition timing may be out but there seems to be no adjustment i…

Put my new HEL brake hoses on yesterday, now I realise that when fitting the brake hose on to the rear master cylinder, you must loop it over, and back on to itself, bit like a scorpion tail, so to speak, instead of running straight to the caliper, but I've noticed a stiff wire guide sat underneath the battery holder plastic, at the rear, in the shape of a square about 1 1/2", is this a guide for the brake hose? I only ask as it's a pig to bleed at the best of times, and if I go ahead and fit it wrong then have to re-bleed I'll not be too chuffed, has anybody any idea about this? as I can't see owt in the manual regarding the fitting. Cheers ta Nev

Ok, so I have a 1990 xv535, that I bought used a week ago. Here is the issue, it seems to run rich, and I am only getting about 100mi out of a tank of gas. I ran seafoam through it, and changed the spark plugs, and it accelerates smoother now. One thing I did noticed when I changed the plugs is there was oil on the threads, and the end of the plugs was charred black. I know that the black on the plugs is from the bike running rich, but not sure why there would be oil on the thread of the plugs. I need help with both issues. I am worried that there is a major problem, and that's why there is oil on the plugs. Thanks for the help!

Does anyone have any experience using OEM carburetors from an FZ600 on a YX600 Radian? My understanding is they are both 52mm round slide, diaphragm carburetors, but are they completely interchangable? Aside from jetting, which I am doing anyway. Any insight would be appreciated. - Thanks!

Hi all, I have a Yamaha XJ600 and recently found that the rear brake was sticking, I removed the caliper to check it and one of the pistons has seized solid. Any suggestions on how to remove it? I've tried heating the caliper, penetrating oil and air pressure but nothing sems to work. Also if the piston does defy my efforts to remove and replace it, will a rear caliper from another model fit my bike or does it have to be for an xj600 (I think FJ, FZ and YX600 models are the same but not sure). Cheers Norton

Hi lads, just joined. I have a problem with my alarm/immobiliser that I'm hoping to get some help with. Last night I went to deactivate the immobiliser to head for a spin and it didn't work. I changed the battery in the fob and that did nothing. Rang a mechanic, he said the immobiliser is probably bust so to just take it out and that should enable the bike to start again. Has anyone removed an alarm/immobiliser from a 03 Fazer 600 before? If so, is there any chance I could get a step by step instruction on how to do it? Any help much appreciated, Mark.

Hello, I've just joined this forum and I hope that someone can help me out with some issues with a 1981 IT 125 that my 13 year old son just bought. When he bought it, it was running rough and was really hard to start. I took the carb off, cleaned it and replaced the needle valve assembly with a new one, next, I adjusted the air mixture screw in totally and out 1 3/4 turns, I also cleaned the petrol tank and mixed some 91 octane petrol with good quality oil (approx 32:1), I also put a new spark plug in. The bike fired right up and was running a lot better, but only with the choke on, when I try to put the choke off the engine revs crazy. I have tried to adjust the idle s…

Hi peeps I think the time has finally come where no amount of exhaust putty will hold the XJs' tatty old Motad Neta 4-1 exhaust system together... ive been looking around for replacements but have only been able to find the same Motad Neta system and a Predator 4-1 system personally, i like the look of 4-2 systems better but as of yet have been unable to find a 4-2 system for the pre diversion XJ, does anyone know where i can find one or if i could fabricate my won? the downpipes from the old Neta are still in good shape, its only the mild steel collector box that has gone rotten. cheers peeps, input appreciated as always - Foameh x

I am new to this forum although i have had Yams for years but most of my stuff is Brit iron ( my sign in name should be a clue ). I know not everyone has a lathe at home but most people know someone who has access to one. Regarding s/a bushes and similar bushes on frame work I allways use Delrin - an engineering plastic made by du pont. Whilst the initial cost may seem high of this material it far outstrips itself in the amount of time it lasts I recomend it to anyone. If anyone has the inclination to spoke their own wheels and has never had a go I can sen you a service/instruction sheet how to do it. Sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum but I just thought it…
