Hey folks, hope you're all well. I believe the head gasket is weeping on my divvy. I don't fancy attempting the job by myself and am wondering what an honest mechanic would charge for this repair. In east lothian, any recommendations for garages would be great. Cheers in advance!

Hi everyone, it's my first time using a forum. Recently bought a fzs 600 fazer 1998. I'm not that clued up on motorbikes so I apologies in advance if I write or ask a daft question. I'm having a problem with 3rd to 6th gear between 6 and 7000 rpm. When I'm in 3rd gear I can feather through 6 and 7000 rpm but the bike splutters and then seems to pull through. The higher the gear the worse it seems to be. From 6000 rpm when I full throttle 6th gear struggles to get past 7000 rpm at all. When the bike is in neutral the revs can be cranked up to high revs. no problem. Work that I have carried out on bike recently, as follows: New aftermarket downpipes, oil f…

Hey everyone. Recently I was riding my XT and I noticed that in 5th, and only 5th, it climbs through the revs nicely, but won't rev out like it does through all the other gears, if the back wheel is spinning in 5th, it revs out fine, but when it has any kind of load it refuses to go any faster. This happens at about 120-140KMPH. Could this have anything to do with the carb, or the second jet not starting like it should, or not getting enough air? or anything like that? Cheers, Thumper. EDIT: It is a single cylinder 4 stroke, single carb with the YDIS. EDIT2: I was taking a video on my phone to show you what I meant but I dropped it and it smashed(excellen…

Hello all, just wondered if anyone could help with this one. I have an xj600 pre diversion, 1985 parked up last week running fine no problems, been away all week so put trickle charger on to top up battery, went to start up turning fine but wouldnt fire. Took plug out no spark while turning engine but noticed it would spark if ignition turned on and off which made me think it could be the pick up coil so i tested that with an ohm meter and it is within the figures in haynes manual i have also tested and cleaned all the obvious connections for continuity. Do you think the cdi could have died all on its own over the week it was idle ? the other thing is the bike lives outsid…

Hi, I bought a 650 dragstar a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to join here for a while but have now been spurred on by it dying. Worked and ran fine for the first week and a half then last Wednesday, after riding it back from work I left it a couple of hours, definitely no lights or anything left on, and when I came to start it it just made a clicking sound and refused to start. RAC man came out and tested the battery and concluded the battery was knackered and needed replacing. I put a new (GS) battery in and it worked fine until this evening when exactly the same thing happening. I jump started it and then rode it about 15 miles, initially on the moto…

Hi all. I have a somewhat strange problem. Today my wife falled and warped the instrument cluster of her '07 YBR125 (made in China). As it was an apparently simple task, I checked the .pdf shop manuals I have and it said that the headlight should be removed first to remove the instrument cluster. Problem is: undoing the two headlight holding screws... the inner nuts falled inside. The manual didn't mention the need for first opening the headlight body (and I trusted the manual as it seems so precise in everything!) Therefore, after succeeding in straighting up the instrument cluster bracket, now I've the problem of re-screwing the headlight to its place. Problem: ther…

Hi I have recently purchased a yamaha ybr 125 2006 which has the square headlight with faring. The headlight beam is on the high side and full beam seems above the road. Does anyone know how to adjust the beam down on this model as there is nothing that covers this headlight in the haynes manual

Hi all, My bike (YBR125 2008) is due for it's first MOT, and I gave it a quick check over. One thing I did notice was oil seeping out of one of the fork seals, so I'm guessing I'll have to replace that before the MOT itself. Is this a job I could do myself? Or is it worth getting the local (!) bike shop to do it before doing the MOT itself? Bear in mind my access to tools has been limited, although could easily buy what is needed if it's easy to do. What would I need if I tackle this myself? For reference, I just serviced the back brake (seized due to dust) and also replaced chain and sprockets (quite easy IMO), so I'm not afraid of getting my hands dir…

Hi there, I was just wondering if there were any bike enthusiasts in Brisbane who might want to teach a young dog some new tricks? I have an '81 XS-250 RH which I've had for just over a year now. To say it has character is probably an understatement, but I'm enjoying getting my hands dirty and I'm learning as I go. I'd like to learn everything I can so if you've got some knowledge to pass on, drop me a line! MrBrady

Evening all. Just bought a 1983 DT125LC and love the thing as it takes me back to my long lost youth. Only issue I have with bike is that when running the lights go dim and bright intermittantly? Does anyone know the location of the frame earthing points on the bike? I think the wiring looms been 'got at' during it's life and I can remember buying one many moons ago but now they are NLA from Yamaha. If anyone could give me some pointers or know of a good loom for sale I'd really appreciate it. All the best Gary

Hi to everybody. I own a Yamaha XJ600S Diversion (1993), and I have a "major" problem with the carbs. The carbs are leaking and my mechanic told me that I should find a repair kit (x4). This search has proven more dificult that I'd ever imagined. The official Yamaha dealer is asking for TOO MUCH money, and I could'not find a repair kit on E-bay. Does anybody know where could I find some good quality aftermarket parts for my carbs?

Evening all. Im new here. I ride a WR125R with a few mods. Use it for green lanes and offroad playing. Im in desperate need of the front and rear wheel bearings. All i can find on the net is the front bearings, nothing for rear. Ive looked through endless google pages but can't find any part numbers or dimensions. So ANY help at all would be brilliant, could do with sorting it before saturdays outing. Cheers Paddy

hello i was looking for a gasket set for my 125 dragfar, i had noticed there is far too much in the variation of price, for example a full gasket set on ebay for 30 quid, or a full set elsewhere from 70 quid and so on, as i have never bought gaskets for bikes before i wondered what is the difference (besides price) ? are cheep gaskets more likely to fail ? is it a case of "buy cheap and buy twice"? is there a brand that is worth avoiding ? is there a brand that is worth going after for all the right reasons ????????????? please advise
