Hi Guys, My youngest bro has bought himself a 1999 SR125 to run around on whilst at uni. When its warm it runs perfectly, no surging, no stalling, idles forever, hits 60-65mph etc. It can be an absolute mare to start in the morning though. I changed the battery, spark plug, oil change and checked the valve clearances. It seemed to help a little but is struggling to start again without a jump or bump. I should mention that it starts pretty quickly with a jump from a car battery (with car engine off). Hopefully he isnt just doing it wrong, I've explained the choke and that it needs to warm up etc to him, but it is his first bike. He is going to leave it w…

  4. The end to British Summer Time has hit me hard on my rural, completely unlit, narrow, leafy, muddy and very winding commute home. The dipped beam on my YBR250 is very poor. I'd say it gives enough view for about 30 or 40 mph without oncoming traffic. As soon as someone with the ultra white style lights many cars use comes the other way I'm effectively blind. I've tried to research additional lighting. Fog lights, Spot Lights, Driving lights, whatever. I need some but need some advice on where to find a good pair that won't break the bank or get people flashing their lights back at me (which clearly I don't need). As my bike is naked they could be frame mounted or fork…

(this is typed on my phone so spelling will be terrible!) Hi there, i currently got my hein gerike grips repaired and working. One thing i have noticed and find really is that they turn themselves off, even if they have only been on for 5 mins at 50%. Is this a safety feature or something to prevent them sapping battery life because i found they stayed on for about 30 kins on lowest setting 50% the entire time i was on the a34 with high revs. i have the grips with the two on off buttons(not sure of model) any help would be ace, thank you

  7. Hi Guys need suggestion what are the primary things I need to modify my YBR-125. Stock parts, maximum speed I can muster with it is 105Kph. I was thinking about changing size for front and end sprockets then transmission gears but additional information would be alot of help.

I'm guessing you can't run a battery eliminator (capacitor in place of a battery) on the XS400 as it has a field controlled generator? Maybe if the generator core holds enough magnetism to let it self generate like a dynamo, IE not need a battery to get the generator fired up? I remember mine not running with a knackered battery tho. If anyone has experience of this I'd be interested to know if the 400 will run batteryless.

If this is out of line or in the wrong section, please delete or move as apropriate. I have been struggling to source decent silencers for my 1983 XJ750RL. I eventually came across a web site, contacted them, very helpful, and recieved detailed drawings of available silencers. I matched mine, called him back and have ordered them £250 all in for the pair. if i am permitted the web site is www.brspecialtuning.co.uk If they're as good as they look I will be one very happy bunny. I have the pdf available if wanted by anyone.

Hi i've just bought a dt125r with a view to restoring/modifying it into asupermoto roady. could anyone let me know whether upside down forks from a yz model would fit? And would a larger engine from a yz just drop into the frame or would this require more than spanner work? any info would be appreciated thanks. (i'll upload photo's of my progress as i go)

was riding home at the maximum my bike can usually mangae, 50mph, on A roads from preston, the bike suddenly lost power, stayed at 40mph for about 5 minutes then just lost power and died. coasted to a stop. the cylinder head was smoking a bit... spent about 5-10 minutes trying to start it, check fuel, bump start it, etc... it started on a bump start, then managed another few miles then died again when i got on the B roads (slowed to 30mph this time, no matter what gear)... i had to push it until a guy (called Paul on an '09 R1) came to my assistance and took me pillion home. picked the bike up today, checked the spark (against cylinder head, it sparked), checked fuel,…

Hey Guys, I have a 2002 XV 125 Virago, had it about 6 weeks and been using it in all weathers. Decided today to give it a bit of a clean today and think some water has got into the fuses as some of the electrics have gone off (indicators, brake light, neutral/indicator lights on handlebars) but headlight and rear light ok. I don't mind changing the fuses myself, however I don't know where to find them, I have taken the side panels and under right one are 2 boxes, I think they're in one of these. So to the help bit, am I right in thinking one of these 2 boxes act as a fuse box? and if so, how do I access it to check the fuses? Also, as a bit of a side note, does…

Hi all, I am a newbie to this site. I was hoping that someone may be able to help me a problem that's been causing me to pull my hair out, and to be jonest I can't afford to lose any more! I bought a 2003 TW125 for my son. When we went to buy it, it would run and rev but not tick over, (at this point we should have walked away). The seller said it was probably a blocked slow running jet due to lack of use and that some carb cleaner in the fuel with a long run should sort it. Well we bought the bike and did that, but nothing changed? After checking for splits and air leaks on the inlet rubber, I removed the carb, stripped, cleaned and blew compressed air everywhere (it was…
