Hi all' just done a carb rebuild on my 1986 FJ 1200 . New needle jets and needle seat o rings together with a full clean and float check. Ive replaced the petcock diaphram and thought i had done the job to stop the fuel leaking out the overflows but its still leaking out one overflow which is confusing me ...surely the diaphram should be stopping any flow to the carbs if the bikes not running seemingly working of the vacuum effect and the new o rings should also be stopping any fuel getting past . Only thing i thought is seats not sealing properly by some dirt from the tank but i fitted an inline fuel filter to stop this happening. Any ideas folks ...had the car…

Hi everybody, I'm new here, been a yamaha lover since my 1971 DT175 that I got in 1980. (still in my garage!) Anybody out there help me, I'm stumped. Just rebuilt my FZ600 after 10 years in pieces in the corner of the workshop (not the engine) Rides fine, starts, idles, pulls, perfect up to 5000. try to go over, coughs, severe hesitation, wont rev higher. Makes no difference if its low gear acceleration, or creeping up in top on the dual carriageway. Tank's been dipped/zinc plated, so no rust. petcock already rebuilt, checked out again all ok. Plugged the vacuum for the petcock, then ran it up with the tank off, big funnel full of petrol, air filters off. got he…

Hey there. New member. Just got this bike. Had a no fire on number four. Changed oil and put some small engine fuel treatment in tank. Went to start bike. Fired right up no problem then died. Pulled the line off the petcock, good flow. Pulled the tank but left fuel in the main fuel line Watched fuel level in line as bike cranked. Did not seem to be drawing any fuel. Has good spark. If i spray quick start into a carb bike will fire. What the hell have I done? Should I try compressed air into the main fuel inlet?

I have just fitted a beaded brake line on my rear brake, all was working fine before i did this but now i have no back brake. I have bleed it correctly and when pumped the brake works but after no more than a minuet it's back to no brake, at the moment i have a screw driver wedged in to keep the rear brake lever down over night to see if it will get rid of any air bubbles. Anyone got any tips on this matter, the bike is a 93 YZF 750r Thanks Mark

1982 XS400RJ, 30,000 miles with absolutely no horsepower. In the 1,000 miles I have owned it top speed was 45 MPH which was OK cause I didn't need to go any faster. Now I do. I had the engine out earlier this summer and here is what all I have done to/around it, with added info. After all that work the bike seems to have no more power than before. Compression is 135 and 140 PSI, new plugs, adjusted valves (way off), new fuel filter and lines (see thru), premium gas, cleaned carb and passages, spotless internals, diaphragms look great, changed both needle and seat assemblies (both old and new same float height setting), adjusted air screws and synched carbs, no poppi…

I am going to use some heat and plusgas before trying to remove the rest of the cylinder studs from a crankcase. I have never had to heat ali before so can I have some advice please? My questions are; Heat gun or blow torch? Heat the stud or the crankcase? How hot? Any gun/torch recommendations/techniques? The case is ali and I dont want to melt the casing. If all goes well I may also try to get the blind bearing out by the heat and slam dunk method. Ta.

  12. hey i seem to be doing a fair bit of travelling and find myself in need of the nav on my phone. the battery doesnt last that long though. would it be possible to add a charger to my bike to charge my phone while riding?? the bike is a ybr 125 any suggestions welcome

  13. Disclaimer; Anything you do is YOUR responsibility, not mine. Splitting 2 stoke crankcases is fairly simple. There are 2 main problems;you never know what the last owner did and; crankcase splitters are expensive and rarely used. Method Get the engine ready for splitting. While you are doing this get hold of the components you need to make the splitter. In my case; 2x 6M threaded rods and the old roof rack that was tucked down the back of the shed. Everything else you should have. The rods were about £8 from evilbay. Do some measuring, drilling and cutting until you get something like this Fit your new tool to the cra…

First just thought I'd say hi since this is my first post. Have been lurking around reading for a while but haven't posted yet, so hi everyone! 27yr old first time biker as of three or four months ago. I've got a YBR 125 custom 2009. Bought it second hand and luckily it did actually run . Everything seemed fine for the first few months. I then had a minor fall in some torrential rain which resulted in some expensive repairs (and lessons very much learnt!) but it's been running fine since. Then last week, it just failed to start... Turning the ignition would give anything between no power at all, to everything coming on (lights, dash, engine warning light…

Hi all, I recently purchased a 2002 SR 125 motorbike. It's my first solo bike as I have two rusian vintage bikes with sidecars a '58 Ural M62 which I have restored and a Dnepr K750 in pieces ready for assembly. My 2002 rear axle spindle is secured in place by a locknut. The earlier ones used a castle nut with split pin to secure. I aligned my rear wheel today and went to tighten up the locknut with a torque wrench. I had got a new nut as recommended in the haynes manual. There was no spring washer and I don't think there should be one. I noticed that the axle threads didn't protrude beyond the end of this locknut when fitted. It was explained t…

Hi, I have nabbed a little old Yamaha Chappy from the late '70's as far as I can muster. It has NO oil tank/pump and instead is running on oil/gas mix. In theory, I can see how this will work OK, but I am unsure of what mix ratio (oil/Gas) should be used. Can anybody give a good guess? Thanks, Ozarkkdrb Fixing up a little bike for the nieces!

  17. Hi Guys My first post! - I recently bought a brand new Yamaha YBR 125 from my local dealership. After about 150 miles the gear lever became "loose". I was a bit concerned that it had loosened so quickly and was worried about overtightening the bolt and screwing up my warranty,so I took it in to the dealership today. They have tightened up the bolt and there is less play but the shaft that the lever sits on still feels loose to me, ie, I can push the shaft in and out by millimetres with finger pressure. I sadly know nothing about motorbikes so don't want to p*ss the guys at the dealership off with my amateur suspicions so I am looking for some advice - sho…

Looking for a bit of help, just bought a DT175MX 1980 which looks to have the wrong swingarm, it has no rear footrests or mounting points, I need to replace the bushes but cant trace what bike it fits. I have bought a kit which has 2 nylon bushes and a single bush (tube) but mine has bronze inserts and two separate bushes that are a lot bigger in diameter. Any help from the experts would be appreciated as I can't afford to pull any more hair out!!!
