Would i be able to fit a dt 125 r engine into my dt 50 r frame. I would buy a 125, but i would prefer the fun and satisfaction of this (i pressume) complicated swap. I basically just need to know it fits before i go out and purchase my self a new engine.

Hi all, names Adam I own a wee SR 125 thats giving me some major headaches right about now. Owned her since last november, she died February this year and only got the cash and time to rebuild about 2 months ago. Cylinder has been rebored, new piston installed, other sundries etc; My problem now is, the bike has died again. Was riding home from work about a month ago, just come off a 2 mile stretch of road where I had the bike cruising at around 50mph (should also add at this point she was only 250 miles into being run in again after rebore) when the bike lost power, wound down gracefully and died. Thought hmm, thats odd, maybe I had run into reserve, so duly…

Hey guys n girls, Got couple of queries, ive got a 2000 yam fazer 600, the speedo is not working - have had a look and cant see if the cae actually detatches from the speedo drive at the front wheel, do i need to replace the whole thing??? The other thing is, when wheeling the bike, ive noticed an intermittent creek on rear wheel, only slight and feint, and checked its not coming from the chain....could it be wheel bearings? Only as i had an rs125 some years ago and the bearings went, causing a nice lock up on rear wheel! Cheers in advance for any advice etc! Jay

I have recently acquired a 1981 Yamaha Passola kickstart scooter and as soon as petrol was poured in it poured straight back out again through the float bowl overflow and up through the air vent. Assuming the floats weren't floating properly, I adjusted them, to no avail. Finally, I replaced the entire carb with a spare, only for exactly the same to be happening as soon as petrol was added...What to do?! Just to let you know what I have tried so far...upon advice from the original Haynes manual...I have checked/changed the pin and float for damage, cleaned the pins and carb, replaced air filter, removed and cleaned the exhaust. Also, when trying to kickstart,…

Hi all, Looking to change my clutch and check the shims on the thundercat this weekend... Is this the correct oil? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YZF600-R-THUNDERCAT-CASTROL-POWER1-OIL-AND-FILTER-KIT-/300574124316?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item45fb9d291c#ht_2017wt_1396 I've read a load of bad bits about putting the wrong oil in causing the wet clutch to slip? I really don't want that because its one of those things that just does my head in...... Also, I assume with the clutch removal the oil in the clutch chamber will come out, I'm going to buy new oil to replace it. When doing the shims, I assume I'm going to drain a few ml of oil out of the engine but no m…

Hi all, I have a little travel on the front brake before I get any pressure on the lever or front wheel, its nothing ridiculous that comes back to the bars but it does mean it can be a little grabby at times. The brake fluid is within the limits that it should be, could this just be pads being low? Another silly question by, Pie

Hi all, Picked me up my first big bike the other day and managed to negotiate myself a deal on it due it a slippy clutch between 5-7k revs. Second gear is fine (I made sure!) but in all gears when the engine gets up to speed the clutch slips so.... I've so far sourced friction plates and springs and the clutch cover gasket, is there any more I will need? It was serviced 700 miles ago so was hoping to re-use the drained all - bad idea? Also, I do have an online copy of the haynes manual, but as per usual it manages to make the ordeal sound like brain surgery! I work on my own SR125, have restored a mobylette and do all the work to my own car so I know my way ar…

Well as the winter approaches my '98 sr125 is making an all out bid to stop me from getting... well... Anywhere. It failed to do so however today, I did 5 miles to school and then, one whole more mile afterwards... Pushing it to Halfords near to where my dad works (he came and gave me a hand). To cut it short, my battery is fairly well buggered, it just doesn't hold enough charge, it'd be fine in summer it's just to cold for the poor thing, i'm not doing long enough journeys/ miles at the moment to get it really well warmed up and to get the battery charging properly (to add to this i usually have my lights on). Would a battery optimizer be a good plan? I've quite a…

Hi guys, I have recently passed my CBT and bought a new YBR125. I am no spring chicken and a bit of a wide load, so I find my rear view somewhat restricted. Has anybody found a work-around for this problem? replacement mirrors of extended stems etc? That will fit my bike. I have looked around the inter-webs and local motorbike shops but, as yet haven't found the solution. So I thought I'd come to the experts, one of you fine fellows, or fellesses must have the answer. Looking forward to your replies, Si.

Ok I am new on here and 18 mths ago purchased an XJ6N and proudly took my time running her in, the bike stands now at just under 5500 miles. I have to say it handles well but I have never been exactly bold over with the engine performance and have always thought it lacked grunt. After readying an MCN review on the bike which stated the throttle bodies have been reduced from 36mm to 32mm and being and old school mechanic it has been bugging me how to produce a cheap way to increase performance, when it use to be carburettors it was simple, put bigger carbs on but Fuel injection is not quite as simple, so I researched the subject (remember the xj6 is based upon the 05/0…
