Good Afternoon, Whilst out for a ride in the English countryside I hit a deer which sprung across the road. The damage was minor - cracked fairings on the front, cracked mudguard, steering was out of place, and the chain was bent, some how. So, everything is now fixed and a new chain ordered. I have removed all the body parts from the chain and sprockets, luckily enough the bike is only a year old and bought from brand new, so sprockets themselves are perfect, just bloodied. My essential question is; I've spent the last remaining money on new bodywork ect, and cannot afford a massive garage bill to fit the new chain. How much should I expect a garage to charge …

Hi Guys I bought the thundercat that had been standing for a while so collected it without getting it running. Got it home put a new battery on and new battery in the accumen alarm but following all instructions couldn't get the alarm to de activate. So decided to take it off which turned into a nightmare so ended up buying another harness without alarm attached. Fitted the harness pretty easy tried to start it with stand up clutch pulled in and engine cut out switch turned off but nothing happens only the oil light and fuel light come on but that's it, and neutral light on dash. I have bridged the stand switch wires just in case that was faulty and changed the relays and…

I've just stripped and cleaned my petrol tap, and replaced the gaskets. The main fuel pipe up into the tank is very long reaching possibly halfway up the tank. It occurs to me that when I'm just below half a tank fuel wouldn't be 'going down the tube' so to speak. I've had instances of engine fade before now and swapped to reserve which cures the problem (it would appear). Should I cut it down so the bottom is level with the top of the reserve pipe? The bike is a Yamaha Dragstar 125 xvs.

Hi I have a Yamaha DTR 125 06, it runs well but when starting from cold it takes ages to fire. It's electric start so it's just turning over and over for ages until it fires and then starts. When hot it then starts a lot better. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance !

Hey Guys I have a 1980 DT175 (DT175MX to the chaps in the UK) Basically I'm working through restoring it and I'm looking to give the rear suspension a bit of a boost. Is anyone aware of a modern rear shock that will fit an old DT175 mono shock? Specifically an increase in ride height / travel would be useful. I have traweled on google for hours and I'm not really winning (other than a very expensive Wilber shock replacement). Thanks!

Hi I am new to the forum and could do with some help Please !!!!! A Friend recommended a mechanic to me for a service on my bike, it has had an intermittent starting problem which has been getting worse, due to me falling off a roof recently a friend rode the bike for me stalling it a few times pulling away not being used to it and it fired first time when we got to the mechanic it would not start he removed the data tool alarm and eventually tracked it down to dirty contacts on a multi plug. he has now told me that the brake lights are not working through either switch and it could be the ecu. I would appreciate any help on this if any one has prior knowl…

Hello again! I was just wondering where the best and most cost friendly place is that sells fairings and other parts for a Yamaha YBR. I am an hour from my local shop and so It's easier to fix the bike at home than take it to the shop.

  9. I just bought aftermarket horn for my yamaha sr125 to replace old, rusty, squeaking horn. I have two questions. If i connect it wrongly can i blow a fuse or it will be ok and i will only need to rotate the plug on the horn? And second question how to recognize earth and positive on the horn and on the wires? Picture of the horn attached.

went to see a raptor 350 2007, was in good condition and started and idled fine etc but it had been sitting for one year. when I went to buy it a week later (guy can't ride he's on dialysis) wouldn't idle properly and now it backfires and idles too fast and if i slow it down with the "idle screw" it slowly stalls out and the choke seems useless too if its on idles too fast if i move it a bit it turns off. My theory is when i turned it on the first time i went to check it out the dirty fuel ran through the carb etc and when i turned it on next time to bring it home it had got clogged due to me inspecting it the first time. sorry for lack of atv knowlcehe this is my f…

HI THERE I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A FABULOUS XS250 '78 WITH A 400 LUMP IN IT. IT RUNS WELL BUT WHEN MOT'D IT FAILED ON THE REAR DRUM BRAKE. THE CHAP SAID THE LINING MAY HAVE GONE SLIGHTLY OVAL AS IT HAS NOT BEEN USED FOR SOME YEARS. I WASN'T SURE ABOUT THIS SO TESTED IT AND SURE ENOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS AN INCH OF MOVEMENT UP AND DOWN DURING BRAKING. ON INSPECTION THE DRUM DOESN'T LOOK THAT BAD JUST A LITTLE RUST AND A VERY SMALL CRACK. WOULD IT BE SENSIBLE TO HAVE IT SKIMMED OR IS IT POSSIBLE TO RELINE AN ALLY WHEEL OR AM I MISSING SOMETHING ELSE?

Hello guys, I'm a new guy to bikes so please take it easy on me, long story short...Yamaha says my crank shaft is broken and to replace it with Labor and everything...it's gonna coast me the price of a secondhand 400 what I have the option to do now is to put a dragster 650 engine in which is gonna be the cheapest and most convenient solution to me. Now my question is will the 650 engine fit on the 400 frame? coz as far as I know everything else is the same. Please advise guys thanks allot - Ford

Hello, Can anyone identify this mystery object. Just been cleaning my 2007 Fazer 600 S2 and found this on the garage floor. I have previously removed both wheels and brake calipers (Front & rear) to change tyres. Alternatively it could be part of a treadmill I have just sold. Any Ideas???

Good evening! I was looking for some advice and help on a certain matter which is bothering me a lot. I recently drove into my car park which has a metal grid laid down to prevent weeds growing. I was traveling about 10-15mph when the bike end slipped and landed on it's side. Cosmetics were a cracked shield, foot lever and a mirror, nothing great, all replaceable. However, when I picked the bike up and walked it, I could feel the bike's steering felt crooked. Do you know what I can do to help it? I have someone come over and have a look - his results? Fine. He said he could pick up speed, go no handed, and it wouldn't pull ect.So why all over a sudden does it …

driving home from work today and I kept losing drive. like when I came off the accelerator the drive went on the bike almost instantly. and I started to hear an odd rattle. about 5 miles later the bike started choking. it soon cut out and I had to hold the clutch to coast to a safe spot to stop. when I managed to get it started again it sounded like the piston was battering off the casing. any ideas what this could be and if a novice like me could have a go at fixing it?
