Hi folks, just introduced myself in the new members section. I have a knackered DT125LC 1982. I have the relevant Haynes manual and have stripped the bike and given everything a good clean. I have sourced a number of the parts required (am planning on using wemoto for many parts as they seem to stock some reasonably priced stuff). its needing the usual (gasket sets) and a new piston (1mm oversized) etc etc. However, having taken the subframe off, I need to replace the pivot bolt, the two bushes (the sleeves seem fine) and the dust seals that sit in the inside of the frame. I have tried sourcing them from several suppliers (wemoto, allballs, yambits, eba…

Hi all; Got a FJ1200 and whenever I go over a manhole cover that's dropped an inch or over a pothole (of which there are plenty round here) the front wheel bites right down and it feels like the rim on the front wheel is hitting the road and the whole front of the bike crashes down quite hard with a loud bang/clang, even with the tyre at right pressure. Someone else took my bike for a spin and he reckoned it was steering head bearings that needed doing. Does that sound right or is it something else? There's no wobble from the steering when going round corners etc. Timbo

Hi guys so as I'm not very technical or engineer minded I need some of your brains, As title suggests I have a xv125 virago and looking at lowering it by installing 8 inch rigid struts ( I've also heard the stories about the swingarm not being strong enough and other such things ) Obviously I know I need to shorten the kick stand, would anyone know by now much or if any other bikes are suitable, also would I have to play around with angle of front fork or will it be OK if I'm just lowering the back considerably.

Hi guys and girls first post here. This is a long one but I thought I should include as much information as possible, especially seeing as there are several other threads about this particular fault with varying degrees of success & failure... I acquired a 2012 YBR Custom recently, haven't been out on it much, but I am struggling with the fuel pump/warm weather issue that seems to be a common thing on these bikes.. I've replaced the pump itself, which included draining and cleaning the tank, and I thought bingo this works, but after being out on her for 10-15 minutes, when she gets warmed up fully, the engine begins to idle rough and will cut out at idle, there is…

I am a short lady who loves this bike (model SVX13CTFD), but it is uncomfortable for more than a couple hour ride because I have to reach for my hands to hit the handle bars. Neck issues if I ride longer. I am close to the blue ridge parkway and want to be able to ride more comfortably next spring. Any suggestions? The riser that looked like it would work is the Rox model 650342. I was told it is no longer made and that Rox is out of business (I was talking to Revolution Power Sports). My 2013 Yamaha Custom Deluxe Touring bike has the fairing and the handle bars go through the speedometer mount. I've added 2 inches to my seat, but still can't reach correctly. Any …

Hello, I recently bought my first bike, a 2010 YBR 125 with 3,000 miles on the clock, and bar some teething problems it's been great. I took it for its MOT shortly after getting it and had to have the fork seals replaced, as braking was akin to running into a wall holding one of those big yoga balls. There wasn't any oil on the forks when I had looked at it a couple of times, but the bloke pointed out that by this point it had probably all squeezed out given how bouncy it was (a quick emergency stop-type exercise in the car park saw the 'Yamaha' logo almost touch the top of the outer tube). The workshop pointed out a stone chip on the left inner tube and said that al…

Hi Have you got 1/2 hour to read this. Need some help please for my 1971 AT1 DT125. Only covered 3000 miles This has been a full nut and bolt restoration but starting at the beginning. Purchase the bike from USA as a non runner, The bike would not start, and had no compression so took the head off and found that the rings had picked up onto the piston etc. So the story starts Rebore, new piston and rings, checked timing new points, started on the button and ran well for five mins then stopped . Hmmm back firing could not start it,so stripped the carb again .bingo it started and ran for Five mins ,then stopped again. This time thought it …

I need to replace the throttle cable on my DT125LC1. Some suppliers list a "pull" only one. Can anyone give more detail on this ? The cable also needs to work the injection pump to vie a slave cable.

Hello Does anyone know if there are some written (or even better video) instructions on removing and refitting throttle cables for a 250 Virago? My throttle cables have pretty much seized and lubing them has had no effect. I have bought new cables on Ebay for a tenner (I think that is a bit of a punt at that price). I will new lube the new cables (assuming they fit). Much appreciated. Clive

Is there a way to lube your chain without your back wheel etc getting proper blathered in it? My back wheel, swing arm and even the tyre has got the lube all over it and it is a nightmare to get off. I thought about a scotch oiler or whatever they are called but people said they make a mess. I use a spray lube, WD40 Chain Lube at the minute. Not WD40 it is chain lube made by WD40 before any smart arses comment.

Hi all, A mate of mine has just bought a Virago 535 (don't know the year yet but I'll find out) and he thinks the indicators are flashing a bit fast. Is there an adjustment anywhere please? I've looked at some basic schematics and it looks like it's all done inside the relay unit. Thanks - Dave
