I have recently bought a new fuel-injected model and am quite pleased with its overall performance. Well, that was until we messed about with the clocks and I am now driving back in the dark. I can only describe the headlight performance as useless. It sports a 35/35 bulb and I am looking for advice on how to improve it. Can I simply put in a bigger wattage bulb? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all, I just picked my first bike a week ago - a 1981 XS400 Special II. I knew the starter didn't work well when I bought it but I figured it might give me something to tinker with. The starter turns every time I press the starter button; there's no problem with the electrical wiring or solenoid. The starter doesn't, however, always engage and actually start the engine. Sometimes it just spins, other times it'll start to engage then drop out. But again, occasionally it engages and the engine fires right up, especially when the engine is warm. Since I'm not familiar with the interface between the starter and the rotor, I'd like to get in there and see what's …

hi new to the site so i apologise for any wrong doing and sorry if anyone thinks its rude for me to be asking questions so soon. i brought a ybr 07 to learn on but i brought it in the summer and ran into money troubles so it has been sat in the garden (under cover) since august. me and a friend uncovered the bike to change a front fork and he decided to give the bike a once over. now the battery was flat because i kept starting it like a little kid when i first got it so we use the kick start to start it now to begin with it idled slow which we just thought was because it was the first start in a while so we left it to warm up abit while we were doing this my friend l…

Hope you have all had a great Christmas. I haven't been on here for a while because I've just been too busy. Anyway, the other day I started my bike and the revs were really high because the cable was stuck inside the housing on the handlebars. I looked at it and it appears that a bit of plastic has snapped inside causing the head on the end of the cable not been able to grip. This has really pissed me off, If I can I want to sort it myself otherwise it's a trip to the garage again! I've now got no transport and it is really annoying. I am going to have a proper look at it today. Has anybody got suggestions? Also can someone give me an idea of the cost if I take it to a m…

Hello ! I have a 2010 Yamaha xt 125 and recently when riding home the bike burst into flames and burnt out alot of my wiring, I have replaced the wiring loom but there is one plug (the one that started the fire) that I cannot find the other side or wires for it to go into as it melted and fell off, it's a very important plug as without just this one connected there is no power to anything. I've been looking for two wires on the bike around the back of the engine that would have gone to this plug but on pulling the bike apart more saw that a lot was wrapped in chain so I assume has pulled it from whatever it was connected too, and cannot find anything, all the components …

Hello guys. My ybr fell over the other day. Rolled off the side stand. Landed on the left side, no real damage but the trip meter reset knob took a whack. Since then, the trip meter can be reset, but only clocks up to 7miles, then sticks. I've taken the speedo out to inspect the innards - but there doesn't seem a way to get it open. Is this a factory sealed unit? Or is there a way into this that I've missed? I use the trip meter as my fuel gauge, so its loss is a pain. Is buying a new unit the only option here? Your help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tony

Hello, Im trying to fix up a 1971 yamaha cs3 200 electric. The oiler isn't working so I am premixing the gasoline and running it as such at 1:32 ratio. I've gotten it running idling and revving just fine. When I go to accelerate though it bogs down as soon as I release the clutch no matter how much gas it is being given or high it is revved. Sometimes it will pull away for half a block or so until it bogs out. Im new to working with 2-strokes. If anyone has good links with information on them it would be appreciated. Thank you, Michael Osier

ok so i was able to get up to the house again today, and had some time to tinker with the bike. "rxs 100" i put a inline fule filter on there and adjusted the carb as best i could so it idles at about 1.3 "seemed to do that just fine and i left it just ticking over for a good 30 mins as i did other stuff" as its sorn I couldnt take it for a proper test. and i still havent re built the engine any way, All i have done so far is put on a new head. (using the old gasket. seems to be sealing well though) Any way. i have a prety long garden "not wide but long" so i took it up and down the garden a few times. "managed to get 10MPH! " obviously never managed to get in to 2nd.…

I need to replace my relay for my signal indicators. I pulled out the battery and it seems like it is attached to the casing that holds the battery. Based on that I think I need to remover the oil reservior (left side) to get to it but I can't seen to figure out how to remove it? There is one bolt at the top of the reservoir and I removed it but I am not sure what to do next? Can you help me? Please send advice to [email protected] Put RD400 in the subject line. I appreciate any help. Happy Holidays!! Garry

Hi, I had a problem with my Virago today. She started fine this morning but stopping at a set of lights (yes I do sometimes) the engine just cut out, managed to restart her but she seemed very reluctant to run smoothly unless th rev's were reasonably high and also there was an occansional misfire as if it was only run ning on 1 cylnder. Came out of work tonight and she just would not start and eventually called out Green Flag and the mechanic went over it and eventually got it running although it would not stay running for more than about 30 seconds. He put a meter on the b attery and said that the alternator was only putting out about 10 volts and that was the problem. …
